Let me help you out.....Congrats to: Taylor Reece (Brentwood Academy), Shanice Cason (Siegel), Caya Williams (Mt. Juliet), Isabell Harrison (Hillsboro), McKenzie Sells (Livingston Aca), Whitney Kyle (Jefferson County), Marjorie Butler (Knoxville Webb), Shacobia Barbee (Riverdale0, and also Kalena Lewis (CA), Ariel Massengel (IL), Rebecca Greenwell (KY).
I read articles from three different states. The ONLY names mentioned were Lewis, Massengel, and Greenwell. Maybe the team should just be the Flight.

I think if you look closely you will see that recruiting services are promoting this so that they can get the names of 100s, eventually 1000s, of 7th and 8th graders. They will then charge the parents fees over the next 5-6 years for helping their child find a scholarship.

I seriously doubt anything will change but it does seem like a good idea. For example Big Sandy has 350 students k-12 and in our region we have to go against Humboldt, Union City. Lake County and Trenton. I do not know their enrollment numbers but figure they are quite a big bigger than we are
I bet you remember the wins over those four schools more so than all of the other wins put together.

I agree except that LCHS did not ask for the suspensions. They reported an unsportsmanlike episode that happened as they are required to do as members of the TSSAA. The TSSAA decided the punishment and decided what SCHS (and LCHS) deserved.
-
Thanks for the kind words Binns. It's refreshing to see that someone with no ties to either school can see the importance of KEEPING STUDENTS IN THE STANDS.
..and PLAYERS OUT OF THE STANDS.
...and COACHES AWAY FROM CHEERLEADERS.
-
Everyone Shelbyville fan on here understands what I mean but you. I won't be at the region. I am not from your part of the state. But, the threat does fit you.
-
I have never seen any good come from a player going into the stands and sucker punching a fan, like Ron Artest did. either. Which assistant did shove the cheerleader, then?
So are you telling me by not commenting that the LCHS kid was indeed not acting like an angel? I don't even know if I know more than 1 assistant at SCHS now. And I have no clue what assistant coach shoved a cheerleader for LCHS, IF ANY.
Don't know how the kid was acting at the time. Like a teenager in the stands celebrating a big win, I guess. So, I guess he deserved the punch?

As much as you would like to think it is, this thread is not about you. I am glad you hold kids to a high standard. Lets hope your former school does, too.
It is OK for Andrews to punch a fan if he was antagonized. Sad statement on your part. Makes the rest of your comment invalid.
Dude, seriously, when did I ever say it was ok? I am just saying I am pretty sure that the LCHS kid was not being a perfect little angel. Find and quote my post where I said it was ok? Please do that. And I know this thread is not about me, but you my friend crossed that line and decided to bring me, my life, my occupation into it. I am cool with it, but you turned this tread around yourself. Think about that one.
I didn't out you. Someone else did. You just confirmed what they said. And, again, by saying the LCHS kid was not a perfect little angel you are condoning what Andrews did.

Furthermore:
"Member schools are responsible for the conduct of their own fans and students at every athletic contest, regardless of where it may be held.
"The coach and principal of each of the schools participating in an athletic contest shall file a report immediately with the state office if there is any unusual incident involving poor sportsmanship, during or following the game, on the part of players, coaches, school administrators, game officials or spectators."
Hopefully reports have been, or soon will be, filed by both schools.

To Randy Mc...Thanks for the support of your friends. We miss you here in Shelbyville. See you at tournament time! Still waiting along with others to the question. Where were the LCHS principal, assistant principal, and AD? I know!!! NOT THERE
http://tssaa.org/Handbook/handbook.pdf on Page 8
Section 8. All games shall be properly supervised to insure sportsmanlike contests. The host school shall be responsible for providing sufficient security to insure orderly conduct on the part of all spectators. Visiting teams shall be accompanied by the principal or someone designated by the principal.

SCHS needs to address where the students sections need to be and make a change.
LCHS needs their administration to show up and KEEP THEIR STUDENTS OFF OF THE FLOOR.
MAN UP AND ADMIT IT. WE ARE BOTH TO BLAME
The student body going on the floor had nothing to do with the fight. The students were already back in the stands when Andrews went INTO the stands and hit an LCHS student.
Yes, they did go onto the floor. They admit that. Have all along.

From a guy who doesn't know what "I am done on here" means.
-
I think they confused you with the SCHS principal. Or, maybe it was an insinuation you made about LCHS students' intelligence.
Who was the assistant coach who shoved the cheerleader? I think there are two and I want to make sure the wrong one is not accused.
My comments were to say that I am sure the LCHS student wasn't totally innocent in this situation, saying nothing about the student's (apostrophe before the s) intelligence.
The apostrophe was to represent more than one student since, because you do not know the student in question, it was a general characterization of all LCHS students.
Hate to see you go.
-
It is also SCHS School administrators bright idea to have their locker room beside the opposing student section
Don't even think about complaining at the Region tourney when you students are forced to sit upstairs.
I'm not sure that you can sell general admission tickets and force anyone to sit anywhere they choose not to sit.
-
So, if the assist coach indeed did put his hands on this cheerleader, and it was indeed unwanted (not arguing that point) and IF that put her in fear, then this would qualify as assault. What if she was bumped or nudged, maybe an elbow or a hip....just showing how technical these legal things are. Next time I am in the line at the concession stand I will probably be assaulted....
Randy I thought that you and I might be able to have an itelligent debate..guess not....You win ..Us poor white trash rednecks over here in Lawrence County have been put in our place......next I'm sure your gonna blame us for the bad economy and the war in Iraq...
Someone care to show me where I said anyone from Lawrence Co was a poor white trash redneck?

What makes anyone think the TSSAA will do anything???? I believe there was a incident last year at the State Tourney where player hit a cheerleader while swinging at someone else......nothing happened!!!
To the people involved in this 27 page topic, I understand you are upset. But Randymc was right, most people don't give a .....squat!! Including the TSSAA. If anything it will increase turn out for the district tourney and make them more money!!!!
The TSSAA has been a disappointment many times. The kid last year (he intentionally hit a girl but she was not a cheerleader) was announced as Mr. Basketball two days later!
-
It might be a good idea for Shelbyville to sit out Andrews for the Tullahoma and some following games. I'm sure the TSSAA would look more favorable at any penalties handed out to Andrews if the school took it upon themselves to give some kind of punishment to Andrews. I know most colleges serve some kind of punishment themselves in those situations.
I agree but SCHS may see that as an admission of guilt and we do not know yet if they accept responsibility for their portion of what happened or not. Seemingly the one absolute of this entire event is that Andrews went into the stands and hit a student from Lawrence County.

Sometimes an injury resulting from a blow to the head will not show up immeadiately. Vision loss , hearing loss , headaches , . you can bet the parents of the young man that was attacked will consider this. My daughter was right beside the atttack. The young man was held down by 3 other S,ville players while Bigmac with fries beat the crap out of him.
uh huh. 4 Shelbyville players vs. one poor non threatening LCHS student, probably looking for a place to study calculus. I am sure there were SCHS students injured too. I am questioning Coach Thomas' (supposed) assault......and, I actually am a betting man, and I will bet nothing comes out of this more than a few suspensions. Problem is without a tape, it's just all he said she said. I wish we had one.
Listen to yourself, randymc. I hope you aren't a teacher. You are defending a kid who assaulted another kid.
-
randymc: since you like to refer to Oakland, what happens if an OHS player hit a Siegel fan Friday night and it was not self-defense? What do Coach King and Mr. Vaughn do when he shows up at school tomorrow, if they haven't already? (I bet Mr. Vaughn wouldn't have called the Siegel fans "white trash", either.)
-
First, this is not the NCAA. Second, if the TSSAA has a punishment in place for going on the court after a game then LCHS should pay it.
Now, what should the punishment for assault(s) be that SCHS needs to step up and take responsibility for?
-
College teams get a hefty fine if their crowds rush the courts, and there is a reason for this....
People go to jail for years and pay hefty fines for assault and there is a reason for this..... So, what is your point?
-
Okay, i think its about time to stop with this Kevin Thomas shoving a cheerleader. If Kevin Thomas were to shove a cheerleader like all of you obviously saw and have proof of, coach Thomas would be in jail for assaulting a minor. I live in Shelbyville and Coach Kevin Thomas is not in jail. So before one of you try to blame it on an adult shoving a minor, think about what you are saying.
It is early, Jeff. She may want it to be over instead of pressing charges. And, maybe it wasn't Thomas. Maybe it was his assistant. Who would that have been?
