  1. Well AE Roadrunners is batting a thousand. He picks against Maryville and Maryville wins again. Even when we were down by 10 in the 4th quarter, I knew with AE picking against us, we would still win. That was our charm, AE Roadrunners picking against us. AE Roadrunners needs to go to Vegas and people just need to pick the opposite of him and they'll win. AE Roadrunners all of Maryville is laughing at you. Also maryvillewho we're laughing at you too. Go Rebs.

  2. This will be a very interesting game. Both teams have played 4 common opponents. Central beat William Blount 14-0, Carter 46-6, West 38-13, and Halls 15-0. Maryville beat William Blount 31-10, Carter 35-0, West 38-7, and Halls 35-0. As was mentioned earlier Maryville has had injury problems this season. This will not be an excuse though. It is the time of the season that you pull together and just tighten it up a little more. Maryville has been a little flat the last 2 games and haven't played well since the 2nd half of the Powell game. But this is a big game and it's time put it all together and get ready for the playoff run.

Central has been placing signs on the Maryville campus about what they're going to do to Maryville Friday night. Central fans have been on websites saying that Cassen was going to show Carl up. As a Maryville fan I say thanks. Just give us a little more incentive. Central is good and I know they are particularly good on defense. They have good athletes and good coaching.

I noticed, according to the AP poll, it will be #1 against #2. This is the second time for Maryville to play in a #1 and #2 game this season. So all the hype will be there. My guess is 21-14 Maryville. Go Rebs.

  3. This is a game that will determine were both teams are at this late in the season. Central will come in ready to go. Helton and his staff do a great job. Central plays hard, has some very good athletes, and are fundamentally sound.

Maryville enters the game slightly banged up. Plus this game will be a good indication of were we're at since the Morristown West game. Have we improved? Will Thompson play with poise? Will Maryville want it as bad as Central? Can Maryville handle all of Central's pressure and eight in the box? Will the "Black Swarm" reappear on Friday night and contain both the Jacksons, Martin, Young, and frustrate Zach Helton?

This should be a very interesting game, where all the talking will be done on the field. Noticed AE Roadrunners chimed in on this one. AE Roadrunners always pulls against MHS. He always picks against us. AE Roadrunners also said earlier in the season we better look out for Knox West. I don't have anything bad to say about A-E. Stevens does a good job over there. Plus Boorelly is always interesting to read. Boo knows his stuff.

Execution will be the key Friday night. Can Maryville recapture the form shown against Morristown West? Anyway looking for a good game. A game were a lot of questions will be answered. Go Rebs.

  4. I thought this was probably our worst game of the year. West is o.k., but we sure let them hang around too long. Thompson seemed to stuggle with the crown in the field, as everything he threw to the sidelines was usually too high. I posed a question earlier in the season about either getting better of worse. Are we getting complacent? I'm not sure we're playing as well as we did earlier in the season. We seem to be playing with no emotion. Additionally, I don't seem to understand our play calling in the red zone. Too many passes imo. I'll guarantee you that Central will come to town ready to play and we better be ready at the beginning of the game, not when the 2nd half starts. Central has by far the best D we have seen this year and a lot of athletes all over the field. Has this team gotten satisfied with winning back to back state titles? We'll find out next Friday night. It's a crucial game for home field and I would bet we play Central twice and would hate to lose and have to play them at Central in the playoffs. Now let's get a little fire in our tails and take care of business. And that goes for us fans too. Go Rebs.

  5. Halls will have a tough time moving the ball on Central imo. They bring 8 in the box almost every down and Halls will have to throw some to have a chance. Halls' QB was not very impressive earlier in the season, so I think this spells trouble for them. Halls is tough and will hang tough for a while, but I think Central has too much for them this year. Central 28-6. Go Rebs.

  6. This will be an interesting game. I've seen Mo-Town West and read quite a lot about Greeneville. Greeneville seems to have a good passing game and good all-around team. West has a good team. Southerland, Lawson, and Shockley are very good. I don't know will win this game, but I kind of like the depth that West has, plus it's being played in Morristown. But on the other hand, I could see how Greeneville could win this game, since Maryville exposed some of West's weaknesses. Should be a good one to see. Go Rebs.

  7. That is good news insider. We dodged a bullet there. By the way, did I tell you of a place where you can get two ole fish for 99 cents. lol. Let's show those West Rebels who the REAL Rebels are. For this week the motto is: Go RED Rebs.

  8. Philster good points, but when you're playing on a field like that setting your feet to make a throw is nearly impossible. The 1st pick that was thrown was caused, I believe, because Cade slipped when he planted to throw, had to regather himself, and the ball was late and as a result intercepted. I have more a problem when we get down close and try to throw it in. Case in point W.B. game and again last night. I know we are unpredictable and appreciate that, but I think sometimes we get too cute and blow scoring opportunities by doing that. Had we scored there, maybe Chris would have not been in the game to get injured. Not to be critical of the staff, just something to think about. I wouldn't trade our staff for anyones. Let's hope for the best with Chris. If it is broken, then maybe he can still play some. I remember Ricky Maples in the late '70's played about half the season with a big cast on. So who knows. Go Rebs.

  9. Talked to someone after the game and he said McCord "may" have fractured his arm. Now to the game, MHS was sloppy, almost as sloppy as the field. That was the worst playing surface I have seen since we played Mountain City in the early '80's. At least Mountain City would throw a little saw dust on the mud. Looking back maybe we should have ran the ball more, instead of throwing on the goal-line and giving up picks and put the game away earlier. Then maybe McCord wouldn't have been on the field at that point in the game anyway. I think these weeks when school is out gets the kids out of sync and out of their routine. Now let's get healthy and beat West. One at a time. Go Rebs.

  10. I hope Greenback does well. They will probably have match-up problems when and if they play Cloudland. The Cherokees do a lot of things well on offense and they have a secret weapon on the sidelines. When they unleash "Charlie" watch out. "Charlie" is anxious to bust somebody. Go Cherokees and Go Rebs.

  11. Bandit, go 40 east to exit 398 (Straw Plains Pike). Take that exit. At the end of the ramp turn left go under the interstate and follow Straw Plains Pike till you get to Asheville Hwy (Hwy 70). Go straight across Asheville Hwy. Once you are on the other side of Asheville Hwy. go to Carter School Road, I believe it's the first right after you cross the highway. Turn right on Carter School Road and the field is on the right, just a short distance after you turn right. Might want to get there early, the seating on the visitors side is very small. In '98 we had more people on Carter's home side than they did. Go Rebs.

  12. Rebelron that was a nice cut'n'paste. Kudos to the Powell radio people for their unbiased post. Jacob Holt is a Chris Doering (former FL receiver) or Larry Seivers. He just makes plays on both sides of the ball. Big, strong, tall, reliable, and GREAT hands. Just not a burner, but a FOOTBALL PLAYER. Very much the opposite of what UT likes in a player like Leonard Scott, with hands of stone. Additionally, I just heard Coach White on the radio say that Hodge has a high ankle sprain. Rebelron tell "the insider" we missed him and I expect him to be at Carter Friday nite. Go Rebs.

  13. First of all, Milligan is a heck of a player and Powell has a good team. They took advantage of Maryville turnovers and lead 21-7.

Then Maryville's depth showed up and they went off and scored the final 42 points of the game. Carl and Chris ran like possessed men in the 2nd half. Cade threw the ball well. Gaskin and Holt stepped up for a banged up Merrit and played well. On the downside, Hodge and Large got banged up, but Raulston and Killebrew stepped up for Hodge and Headrick, Wallace, and Browning came on for Large. Depth is a great thing.

Now to the Blount county officials. They were pathetic, in a word. Powell's left tackle moved early almost every play and they were flagged once when the game was already decided. Russell Clement was tackled while running as pass pattern in the 2nd quarter and nothing was called. Then in the 4th quarter an interference call was made on MHS. It was called by the same guy who consistently hammers Maryville at every turn. We always look for him. We always get the shaft when he's on the crew. He always stays on the visitors side, side judge, and it's the same thing every game. There are too many sour grapes for this guy to be officiating a MHS game. He hates MHS and it shows everytime he calls one of our games. Thank goodness we're hittin' road next week. Maybe we'll get a square deal. Just because you're good is no reason to rob kids. Those kids deserve better. And I'm tired of it. Go Rebs.

  14. Baa Baa Baa I'm a Red and Black Sheep. And proud of it. Redbyrd who is you're team? Who are you a sheep for? I'll bet money Maryville has OWNED your team Redbyrd. I'm waiting to hear, looking at your zip code, I'd say someone in Knoxville. Plus I've got news for you. Maryville may have had their best freshman team ever last year, so just get used to it, there's more of the same on the way. Now come on tell us who your team is. I'm waiting. Go Rebs.
