I would like to take a moment to put to rest all the rumors surronding the Beech High School softball coaching position. As of today no one has been interviewed for the position. The Beech Lady Bucs softball team will host its 2nd annual Beech Bash Middle School Softball Tournament on March 26-27, 2010. We will accept the first 20 teams and each team is guaranteed 4 games. SPORTS WAREHOUSE CATHOLIC CLASSIC hosted by Owensboro Catholic on Friday and Saturday April 30th and May 1st, 2010. All Games played at Fisher Park home of the 2009 KHSSA State tournament. The tournament will have 20 teams playing in five pools of four and then a blind draw single elimination tournament. Each team will be guaranteed four games. Entry fee is $250.00. The Greenwood High School Lady Gators from Bowling Green, Kentucky will be hosting their second annual "Kentucky-Tennessee Fastpitch Border Battle" on Friday and Saturday April 23rd and 24th, 2010. We would like to have 12 teams from Kentucky and 12 teams from Tennessee. Games will be played at Buchanon Park and the WKU Intramural Fields in Bowling Green. A special thanks to all the coaches, players, umpires, and softball fans that came out yesterday to Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville to take part in the 13th annual Beech Buccaneer Play Day. Over 1200 people came through the park yesterday to watch the 12 hours of great softball on 10 fields and the weather was absolutely awesome. Thank you mother nature. I hope that everyone enjoyed their time and we look forward to doing it again next year. Good Luck to everyone on their season as we begin for real tomorrow. A special thanks to Chick Crandell and his staff for having the park and fields in top notch condition as always and Dave LeMarbre director of the Hendersvonville Parks and UIC for the play day for helping run such a smooth operation. Mercy is Louisville Mercy Academy out of Louisville, Kentucky. They are a very good team with a good tradition in softball. We are excited to have them come down to the play day this year. Also we are excited about Allen County - Scottsville from Scottsville, Kentucky. They also have a solid squad and should have a chance to be in the KHSAA state playoffs come late May. Beech High School Softball would like to extend an invitation to area Middle School teams to participate in our Innagural Middle School Tournament on Friday March 20 and Saturday March 21 at Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville, TN. This tournament is limited to the first 16 teams. The format will be a four game guarantee (3 in pool play and 1 in single elimination tournament.) The entry fee for the tournament is $175. Coaches, The 13th annual Beech Buccaneer Play Day has been scheduled for Saturday March 7th, 2009 at Drakes Creek Softball Complex in Hendersonville, Tennessee. The rain out date will be Sunday March 8th. This is a week later than last year but the TSSAA calendar has moved the Girls Basketball District, Regional, Sectional, and State Tournaments back a week this year. I know that Monday March 9th is opening day for softball so you may want to leave that open for practice/rest if you come to the play day this year. The format will be the same as usual with each team getting 4 games for a fee of $150. If you wish to play less than or more that 4 games we will work with you on that. This always fills up fast so reserve your spot today even if you have to mail the entry fee later.
