Here is a list of Mr. Football winners over the past decade

1999 Back - Ingle Martin/MBA Lineman - Tate Rich/MBA
2000 Back - Ingle Martin/MBA Lineman - Moses Osemwegie/MBA
2001 Back - Justin Mosby/CBHS Lineman - Keppy Baucom/McCallie
2002 Back - Ryan Moore/McCallie Lineman - King Dunlap/BA

2005 Back - B.J. Coleman/McCallie Lineman - Jacques McClendon/Baylor
2006 Back - B.J. Coleman/MCCallie Lineman - John Stokes
That settles it for me. A lot less BA and more McCallie! On the other hand, you know how all the voters have it in for BA, so they've allowed their well documented (at least on this venue) prejudices against that bastion of academic excellence to color their selection process.

I cast my vote last night. To aid my fading memory, I used the statistical archives at the TN Super Prep site. I'll spread the discussion to this site and put my team here:
QB - Ingle Martin, MBA
RB - David Holbert, BA
RB - Ian Bass, BA
WR - J.D. Lawhorn, MUS
WR - Lee Hilt, McCallie
TE - Tom Santi, MBA
OL - Corey Mills, CBHS
OL - Josh Willoughby, BA
OL - Scott Wells, BA
OL - Jacques McClendon, Baylor
OL - King Dunlap, BA
K - John Vaughn, BA
DL- Jerry Vanderpool, BA
DL- Taylor Bourgeouis, BA
DL- Mason George, MUS
DL- Jason Hall, McCallie
LB- Moses Osemwegie, MBA
LB- Jake Slaughter, BA
LB- Keppy Baucom, McCallie
DB- Dominique Morris, MBA
DB- Tyree Ford, BA
DB- Tyler Griffin, BA
P- Kody Bliss, BA
Coach - Carlton Flatt, BA
Looks like you used Auburn's (or the 13th grade as they say at BA) roster to compile your list.
-
Just a short drive down I75 to Chattanooga. Baylor and McCallie would be happy to fill the holes in KC's schedule.
-
-
My perspective is limited to the BA/McC game. If Ford and White aren't all county something, you've got a bunch of future Heisman winners and D1 players in front of them. I guess BA has 8 on the first and second teams and 10 would be perceived as excessive by several Williamson county teams. Too bad, those kids can play and probably deserve recogniton. The McCallie players and fans would nominate them.
-
You need to let some Ooltewah fans know since several of them started a rumor before the BA/McC game that Potter (or Porter as announced by the announcer Sat. night) is going to BA. Actually I was asked by some McCallie fans if we were passing the hat to increase his salary to keep him at McCallie. Could be but I don't think BA would attract him.

Here's what the guy who coached against Martin and Walker, ""Coleman is the best quarterback I’ve ever coached against. He’s the best I’ve seen." - Carlton Flatt.
Ok! Ok! I'll rephrase it "From a coach who has seen a lot of very good QB's...
-
Kind of makes you want to see more DII football, doesn't it? Coleman is very good, no doubt. Of the more recent DII QB's, I think Ingle Martin and Benji Walker were a bit better at the high school level, but Coleman is definitely in that class.

Coach Flatt said that Coleman was the best QB he has seen in the past 10 years.
According to the paper this morning this was the quote, "Coleman is the best quarterback I’ve ever coached against. He’s the best I’ve seen." I believe Flatt has seen a few good QB's

Thanks and bring a crowd.

I love folks jumping to conclusions. Not EVERYONE at R'dale is hating on McCallie. In fact there are a few of us pulling for them to win it all and will be at MTSU Saturday night rooting for them, that is unless y'all do not want us there.
Both teams might look back at the end of this year and agree it was the most important game ('cept for the championship game) of the year. Personally, I appreciate R'dale looking for competition, something several local teams avoid.
Now to BA. Yeah, it's difficult to beat a good team twice in the same year. Last time McCallie did was 2001. This team is marginally better than that one although both are two of the best in school history. BA's 2001 team had 3 or 4 (maybe 5) D-1 players who are still playing. Several are still playing at BA's 13th grade - Auburn. McCallie put together a great drive at the end of the game to win (see "The Drive" at McCallie's website).
Who's going to win? Pick whatever football cliche you want. The team with the fewest mistakes, the team that wants it most, etc.

These Temple strings are like wrecks on the Olgiati: you don't want to watch but morbid curiosity gets the best of you.
TT by two TD's. That's 12 points because apparently TT can't find a kicker. Surely with the passle of athletes you've got, someone can kick an extra point. Isn't there a girl soccer player you can dress out?

OK ... update on this thread.
There is a distinct possibility that there will be an all-private final in 1A and 3A. There is also a distinct possibility that 1 of the 2 finalist in 2A will be private too.
There will be a lot of stink if 5 out of the 6 finalists in those classes are privates.
Also ... the innuendo has started. Lewis County's coach (Bobby Sharp) made the following statement in the Tennessean:
“They have no business being in 2A this year. They are good enough to be in 5A.”
The article can be found on CoachT's homepage and here:

Must have seen Alcoa play McCallie the last two years. But I'm thinking they needed to move to SEC.

being 5'8 at runningback isn't a bad thing, Barry Sanders was 5'8, Tiki Barber isn't much taller, there are alot of smaller backs that play at very high levels. Look at Warrick Dunn for instance. You also have to take into consideration he is 14 years old and has about 4 more years to grow
Good points all but he's probably maxed out vertically. His game against McC was more than impressive but I'm saying it's tough to get the attention of Division 1 A or AA at 5'8". By the way Barry Sanders was less than 5'8". Late in the 4th quarter your guy got hit several times in the backfield and still managed a gain. McC was fortunate CB started self distructing and Coleman was able to get on the field. Otherwise, McC's basketball team would be practicing a full strength a week earlier.

jus to close dis argument. 1. mccalie turned down gerald riggs, 2. one ooltwhas best players is a former blue tornado. NOW, im not sayin ooltwah dooin anything wrong, but that could look ajus the same as mcc. plus ooltwah is free.
good luck to owls i think i probly b @ red bank friday and go to the boro sat, but good luck 2 yall.
And this was edited!!!

The game, at least the first half, bore resemblence to the R'dale game. CB controlled the ball with long drives. Seems like they had over 200 yds in the 1rst half to 70 for McCallie but were ahead by 3 at the half.

Your opinion is noted..but not necessary correct. I will not be so arrogant as you to go there. But the fact is BJ Coleman is a tremendous QB with tons of skills. UT sees it and I wish him well as a UT fan myself. Fact is Kevin Cooper is a temendous fullback with tons of skills as well. UT is see it and so does Unapproved Website who ranks him 5th at his position in the country. I don't think I saw a similar ranking for BJ at his position. QB's usually get the attention on awards and that may be the case again this year. But to say Cooper is 2nd to Coleman is absurd. I will not even say Coleman is 2nd to Cooper. They are both incredibly talented.
This is like fishing. I throw out the line and a Red Raider bites - more like shooting fish in a barrel.

McCallie will be playing their 4th game at Finley this year... Why is that?
Everyone on this board who has any sense knows McCallie and Baylor wouldn't whoop Ooltewah or Red Bank. They would be great games but any one of those teams could beat the other one on any given night. DII schools are in a different league because they are private schools who can go out of state and around the state to get kids to come to their school. Thats why they are in a different league. Thats why they have the best athletes around the state who later goes on to the bigger colleges. Public schools has to play with whatever is living in their zone. Ooltewah can't bring kids in from around the state and ssoutheast to play for them. Whatever Hunter and Ooltewah Middle gives them is what they have to go with. DII schools also has a lot more money than us public schools. McCallie can afford to pay for an ex-TN weight coach while public schools are stuck with whatever the principal hires. Go look at facilities. Go into the Ooltewah weight room and look at how old and crappy their equipment is and then go to McCallie or Baylor and look how much money they put into those things. There are a lot of differences why DII team are in a different league and why they produce better players. They can afford better everything for their students. After saying all that, I do hope McCallie, Baylor, Temple and Red Bank win tomorrow night. That will represent Chattanooga well. Good luck to all teams and I'll see you guys Friday Night!
Look at McCallie's starters. the vast majority are home grown. If you could have picked BJ and Joel as skinny short 6th graders to be stars as seniors you'd have needed a crystal ball. Now, you may have point with Walter. Although home grown, folks used to ask if he was one of the coaches when he was in the 8th.

Second to who?
You mean "Second to whom? Coleman of course.

I'm serious. Speaking in the third person is a sign of early onset dementia. Speaking in the third person over 400+ posts about one's bowel movements is grounds for commitment. Speaking alternately about eating and bowel movements within the same sentence is grounds for homicide.
UNCfan13 says TT by 14.
-
you gotta watch uncfan13. He says that Cooper is the second best back in town. He may mean that BJ is the best back and Cooper is the second best back. Or he may mean Scruggs is the best-better than Cooper.
If he is saying BJ is the best back and Cooper is the second best back, it would make for a good argument. If he is saying Scruggs is better than Cooper, he's just trying to get a rise out of the Baylor fans.
Which is it uncfan13?
Good question! The point is, Baylor asks a lot from Cooper. Against inferior teams (at least 9 of them) it worked. Against BA and McC, he was worn down by the fourth. Cooper is an outstanding back but going both ways against BA and McC is a lot to ask.
-
No way will Cooper wear out. He gets 200 yards and will help Baylor grind out a victory and upset.
The past is prelude to the future. Look at his stats in both the McC and BA games. He's playing both ways. Against Franklin County, Central, etc it doesn't matter. Against BA and McC, he carried 2 and 3 tacklers every running play and then played good defense. McC adjusted for him and he tired. He's an excellent back - at least the second best in Chatt.
McCallie vs. Brentwood Academy
in Class 5A & Class 6A

I just read several of the posts regarding the Ravenwood Smyrna after game activity. Sad. I've been on hand for more BA McCallie games than I care to count. I've only seen the best displays of sportsmanship - tight game or blowout.
