  1. Regardless of who made the call, Robert Gilmore pitched and threw masterfully. I think he gave up two hits in his five innings of work. Rockwood clinched 2nd place in the regular season by defeating Warburg 16-0. Morgan started for the Bulldogs and went a couple of innings, he was throwing hard today, but we were hitting the ball well. Robert Gilmore hit a home run down the line. John T. Armes came in relief in the 3rd (I think, don't hold me to it). McCreary hit a homer to right center. Wartburg used another pitcher but I do not know his name. The Tigers' bats were very sharp today, hopefully we can carry that over to next week when we play Catholic, Cumberland Co., Rhea Co., and Oliver Springs. Go Tigers!
  2. Rockwood defeated Kingston 15-14. Kingston ended the game by striking out with the tying run on third base. Rockwood committed 13 errors and let Kingston back in the ballgame. Kingston played a solid game and took advantage of our mistakes. Dan Chandler and Corey Payne threw a heck of a game for Rockwood. Freshman Marcus Whitaker got the start at DH and had a great day. He went 4 for 5 I think with a homerun and a double off the wall.
  3. Rockwood drops a 4-2 decision tonight. Harriman got some clutch hits in the first two innings. Rockwood couldn't get runners on base when we hit. Eble pitched a good game for Harriman, Seth Robinson also pitched excellent. We travel to Kingston tomorrow for a 5:30 game time.
  4. ask_me, Mike will stay graduate from Rockwood (by the way, he has 2 more years after this one, he is just a sophomore). He is looking forward to playing his last two years of basketball and baseball. Where you get this stuff I don't know, and I think it is very humorous. disgustedfan, thank you very much for the compliment. I really do appreciate it. Hack, you're right, it was a great game. I do hope the region game is just as good, I just hope it's the championship game so we don't have to eliminate each other. Everybody come down to Rockwood tomorrow for the Harriman game. It can't be as bad as last time... lol I think we will be ready this time and play as a team and play loose and have fun. Should be a great game, everybody show up to support us even if ya don't like us. Go Tigers!
  5. Yes. I have signed with Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama. By the way, RHS fans, the Oliver Springs game will be made up this Thursday. I am not sure of the time yet, I will post when I know.
  6. I kind of agree with STATEment and LCborn. Both make solid points, but if I lean WAY towards STATEment's point of view. I go to Rockwood. We have an enrollment of about 390 students. If we had twice the number of students that we have now, I guarantee we would have a better baseball team. We have about 11 players that get regular playing time. Of those 11, 6 play multiple sports. We have 5 players on the team this year that played all 3 major sports this year, and all three of those sports overlap (football went a couple rounds into the playoffs, basketball went to state). If we had twice the number of students in the school, many of these players would specialize a little bit more. Some students at small schools play multiple sports because they have nothing better to do, or because they play just for fun (there is nothing wrong with that). But at Farragut, I doubt anybody plays baseball just for fun. I'm sure that everybody on the roster wants to win and get better so that they can contribute more than they do now or to play at the next level. When you have that kind of dedication, you will have better players. Farragut produces multiple players every year that play college ball, smaller schools rarely produce even 1 player per year. Some schools don't ever produce any.
  7. Rockwood beats DeKalb County 3-1 this afternoon. Very good game, fun to play in and to watch. Robert Gilmore threw a heck of a game, complete game, not many hits allowed either. We played together as a team very well today, probably the best we have this year. DeKalb County is a solid team, good luck to them the rest of the year. Go Tigers!
  8. Rockwood played a double header today against Greenback and Cookeville. Rockwood beat Greenback 2-1 on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 7th inning. Cookeville beat Rockwood 9-4. Rockwood didn't hit too well either game. We played great defense overall in the Greenback game, but, we gave Cookeville WAY TOO MANY free bases by error. Seth Robinson pitched a great game against Greenback. Dan Chandler started against Cookeville, he had a rough time getting people out on balls not hit hard. Cookeville did not hit him very hard at all. Michael Gilmore came in relief and did an excellent job.
  9. Rockwood beat Sunbright. I can't remember the exact score, but it was something like 25-0. Who did Harriman even play tonight?
  10. Apparently, there has been a team drop out of the Rockwood Invitational Tournament this morning. Is anybody interested in filling the spot? If you think you might be interested post or call Coach David Lane at Rockwood High School today before 2:30 at the number (865) 354-0882
  11. Gilmore pitched again for Rockwood and Coalfield used about 5 guys. Coalfield made some errors, but nothing that cost them the game. They had 3 hits I think.
  12. Rockwood beats Coalfield 14 or 15 to nothing. The field does have a sprinkler system. It is actually a very good system, it's just not used very often due to east Tennessee's tendency to rain every other day. The best players playing is a very difficult thing sometimes. In my first 3 years at Rockwood, there has been about 9 players that are game ready at a time each year. This year, we have about 13. It is a good problem to have. Coach Lane does his best to get everybody that can contribute enough at bats and playing time to always have his best on the field.
  13. CYJacket, the umpire quote was in referral to the Webb game. The umpires were consistant in the Harriman game. Anyways... it rained some this morning, but not very hard. The field was not covered because it needed some rain on it, it was very dry. Should be in great condition now.
  14. ???, what are you on Harriman with? Harriman beat Rockwood 10-0 and the next day Rockwood beat Kingston 1-0.
  15. The OS game will be rescheduled, but it hasn't been set yet.
  16. Rockwood wins 1-0. Mills threw a good game, but not as good as Seth Robinson. Our bats were still quiet, but our defense actually showed up today. We played more as a team. We are finally looking like we are starting to gel as a team. If we keep working hard we will be ready for anybody. Go Tigers!
  17. NOLE, Chris Kirkland threw a 1.78 at a Perfect Game Showcase. It was an accurate time, not inflated (or in this case deflated) and was timed by professionals. "Believe it or not..."
  18. He is a good defensive catcher with a good arm. Good pop times and keeps the ball in front of him pretty well. He also moves well behind the dish. Hitting: he has good wheels (he is the leadoff hitter). Ryan also can hit with some power (he hit one out against us in Lookout Valley). He is a very good player.
  19. Big game today. Let's hear a few more predictions before the game gets started.
  20. Rockwood pitchers had a hard time finding the strike zone (I had a hard time understanding where the umpire thought it was). Webb, hit the ball well. We did not hit well. Pretty much, not a good game.
  21. kingbrian, I have no clue, I just copied and pasted what was on WBIR.com
  22. This is from WBIR.com: "Three young people were killed and three others were injured Tuesday night in a two-vehicle accident in Blount County. Police say that 18-year-old Bradley Sonner of Seymour lost control of his 1999 Volkswagon on a curve on Wildwood Road. The car hit a 1993 GMC pickup truck, causing both vehicles to spin. Sonner and two passengers, 21-year-old Trevor Horner of Maryville and 22-year-old Michael DeLuca of Rockwood were killed. The driver of the truck was treated at the scene and released. The three other passengers in the truck were taken to Blount Memorial Hospital and are listed in stable but serious condition." It hits close to home because one passenger was from Rockwood and the driver was friend and former teammate of mine. Keep them and their families in your prayers if you will.
  23. I checked on WBIR.com to see about the article. I couldn't believe that I knew the player. I just talked to him not too long ago. My prayers are with their families and the Seymour baseball family.
  24. rkwd2, Mr. Reed has finished tallying the stats and will post them on ihigh soon. Tiger fans, the game with Harriman has been moved to this Friday at 5:30. The Oliver Springs game scheduled for Friday has been cancelled and we hope to make that game up at a later date. We travel to Webb on Thursday, hopefully we will see ya there.
