  1. A thread about top sophomores and there is no mention about Northeast's Dawn Evans? WOW!!!
  2. It seems like this topic has gotten a little heated. I think that in fairness to everone involved it is some good high school coaches who do alot for their kids as well as some AAU guys that do the same. It is also coaches who don't do anything for a kid at all. Coaches like Al Cooper, Ted Young, Kevin Tuck, Tom Weeks, and Brad Frayser really have always supported the AAU program and were real easy goes to work with. It's no wonder why those are the teams always battling for the district. There top players are playing high level ball all summer as well as being coached well during the season. It shouldn't be about who gets the credit for sending the kid to school. However you can't overlook the importance of AAU ball for a kids exposure. While people like gogovs cry and boo hoo when someone else helps a kid they couldn't help. They should be pushing kids toward opportunities where they can get a free education.
  3. I don't know you either jumpshot! Sounds like we have that in common.
  4. Ksgovols you are right in major AAU programs where a team is sponsored by a shoe company the AAU coaches do get taken care of. As any human being should be that is working hard or performing a service for someone. However prep schools and AAU are night quite in the same boat. And there are only a handful of teams that get sponsorship from a shoe company.
  5. HAHAHA!!! I promised to deliver Drake to who? I don't care what you think my problem is as I have never been one to worry about what people have to say. As far as Drake goes I am the coach at MT. Zion Drake plays at Northeast. Mt. Zion is one of the top athletic schools in the nation. If I am a legend in my own mind schedule us and get in line for a 50 to 0 butt whooping. Never had a problem with Coach K haven't spoke to him since the day after 2003 civitan bowl. But if you would like we have two assistant coaches positions open that pay $45,000 each plus excellent benefits package and you don't have to teach. I'm in Clarksville visiting Drake as a matter of fact. SO you can stop hiding behind the computer at any time, and meet with me to get your feelings out in the open. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings in any way. I apologize!!! thumb
  6. Gomab, Just look at kids like Dorrell Wright, Brandon Rush, Andrey Blatche, Shawn Williams the 5th year turned these kids into pro prospects. ksgovols and gogovs: the priority should be to get a kid into school free. Not have him labor for you for 4 years and then bounce from a Walmart job, to Pizza Hut or have to take out a 50,000 dollar loan to go to college that he will work the rest of his life for to pay back.
  7. HAHAHA!!!! How many kids have you sent D1? If you have a personal issue you know how to reach me. And if the kid wants to go D1, which none of your kids are doing and they contact a prep school coach then he should take them if they fit his program. Get your facts straight K or Clay or whoever you are. This is me I don't hide behind screen names. However you are talking about football and everyone else it talking basketball.
  8. The high school coach is the one who has the most power overall in this whole situation. If the high school coached worked hard to get his players into school than AAU coaches and prep school coaches would be less needed. But often times it is the AAU coach not the high school coach who gets a kid noticed and into school. Just because you have a degree in math and are a high school coach working in the school system doesn't mean you have the kids best interest at heart either. As far as prep schools playing high schools they are only allowed to play high schools if they are a part of their state association. Oak Hill is a member of the Virginia State Association they just don't play for the state championship. Same with IMG, Dematha, and many others.
  9. Gomab this is a very touchy subject with alot of people. Although I am around kids like Brandon Rush everyday and other 5th year guys my feelings are mixed as well. I do think that prep school is a great alternative to juco ball. I do not think that 18 and 19 year olds should be able to play 17 under AAU ball. Such was the case last year with several kids. These kids are at prep schools where there are 10 students to a classroom. It makes it much easier for them to learn and be taught. Some kids are there because doing high school they never played on a national stage and got to be exposed to the nation's top coaches. It all just boils down to opinion. But since most top tier teams have now started staying clear of AAU ball and are just playing in travel tournaments guys who are as old as 20 are playing on the circuit and that's not right either depending on who you ask. I'm all for a kid getting the extra year for more exposure, but kids do need to play with their age groups for summer ball.
  10. Drake Reed stinks!!! He is terrible in the post. The only reason he scores is because at Northeast where they play 6 home games a year he gets all the calls. Believe me I have seen all this kids games for years he is terribly overrated. I have no idea why he is going Division 1. Just luck I guess!!!
  11. What Drake Reed number 1!!! You've got to be kidding me!!! That's such a joke!!! Get somebody at number 1 that can play!!!
  12. Uh ohhhhhhhh!!! The boys are back at it for another B-ball season. Gomab is right Stansbury wanted the Delk boys pretty bad. You guys are getting it heated up already. I'll be back in town for the jamboree Thursday. Hope to see you all there. I don't know who will win Mr. basketball but I do know this: Richard and Reginald Delk will be the best set of twins in Jackson, TN. Cory Pflieger is the best player in Dickson County. And Drake beat me in a game of Madden Football last week. Well good luck this season everyone. Crossup it's chilly here on the east coast baby!!! Gomab2 I got something for ya give me a call on the celly baby!
