  1. Walker Valley vs Sweetwater last night. At the end of the third quarter, WV 53 Sweetwater 25. Starters play until about 5 minutes left in 4th quarter, maybe less. Let the kids on the bench play!! If the starters still need that much work this late in the season, we in trouble anyway.
  2. If a little bit more time was given to the bench people they have there now instead of just running them as a defensive/offensive scout team in practice only, they would be fine next year anyway. Their bench is not that bad if given an opportunity to play and stay on the floor for awhile. Nothing like game experience.
  3. How is Tiffany doing? Will she be back for either the district or regional tourney? Who has stepped into her spot for now? Hope you have a fast and full recovery and be back on the court completely healthy very soon!!!!!!!
  4. Mo Morris, Mo Morris, Mo Morris. Pound it inside until they stop it, which McMinn has not shown they could do. When Walker Valley breaks the press, by passing over the top and not dribble dribble dribble, attack and not circle circle around to set up to run a play, giving McMinn time to get back and set up. Make them pay!! I thought last game, subs made a different also, McMinn was fresher at the end. Mo Morris and less treys, more passes and less dribbling, more bench and fresher starters, Walker Valley by 2 in a killer thriller.
  5. Tnxtreme 16u AAU girls basketball team, Host team for the 16u National tourney to be held in Chattanooga, Tennessee in July, is looking for a strong point guard to run the show. Must be sound defensely, have strong ball handling skills, able to score and get the ball down the court. Tryouts March 7 @ Chattanooga State from 4pm - 6pm Email at : lakerhead_1999@yahoo.com or Pauljolley@aol.com
  6. Don't think it was so much sloppy as it was we fell in love with our many, many, many outside shots in the 1st half, that were not falling, and totally forgot about the big mismatch inside. Start of 2nd half, we went inside first few times down the court, scored, took control of game, then hit a few outside shots, game over. I thought our shots looked flat, a lot of short front rim misses, sometimes a sign of tired legs. Starters have played a lot of minutes in first 20 games, some unnecessary during blowouts. It's a long season, 30+ games with tournaments coming up. We need the starters to be fresh for the stretch run. I would like to see the young bench backups get a few more minutes when possible and give the top 5 some rest. I believe the bench players could definitely play even and maybe even beat some of the teams we face, when the starters are still on the floor.
  7. No need to apologize BCHStrack1. I respect your opinion and you have made some good points. I didn't take it no other way than a discussion. Good luck the rest of the year! Stay healthy! Hope to see you in the Mur..in March. I will be pulling for ya....AA Champs & AAA Champs in the same County...That would be awesome!!! But Cleveland and McMinn Central are lurking !!!! OH Yea....We gonna get you in the Corral next time....... Cya
  8. My mistake on the wording. I meant Bradley beat a "STRONG" team by 24 first Hall of fame game" vs Walker Valley beating a "weak" team by 24. I wonder who would win between those two.....the 24 point losing strong team or the 24 point losing weak team. You are right. Heidi could play at a higher level.... Harlowe is a good Coach, I agree, as well as Tucker, who also would get that same backing from coaches and players across the state. My point is that everyone has different opinions on what makes a good coach or better than average coach and its not always wins and losses and winning percentages or strength of schedule that determine it. I have enjoyed the discussion!!! Go Mustangs!!!!
  9. My thinking is clear. I don't think winning the Gold dictates who is the better Coach. A lot of bad coaches, have had everything fall in place at the right time and win it all, and a lot of good coaches have had everything go wrong at the wrong time and lose. My response was to the earlier post. Playing a strong team, losing by 24, Bradley's first Hall of Fame game vs Walker Valley playing a weak team, winning by 24, Walker Valley's first Hall of Fame game. I'm sure both Coaches knew from the start, what the final outcome was going to be to a certain degree. Both had their reasons for scheduling those games. For whatever reason they felt THEIR team needed that. That is not for me to question. So that, in my opinion, is not a basis for determining whose the best Coach. I might be one who put less emphasis on having that, as posted earlier, a Marine metality and more on other issues, then I might think Tucker is a better Coach. If I wanted the other, and a stronger schedule, then Harlow. So much noise is made about scheduling. I was just pointing out that neither Coach has won a banner since being at either school, playing strong or weak schedules. To say that the players at Walker Valley are good, but will never reach their potential is absurb. Example, Heidi Rominger is at Lee University playing, not just sitting and watching, and she played that same so-called weak schedule as those who are there now. As far as your baseball question, I don't follow it. I am not from this area originally, so I don't know either histories. To render a blind opinion is not me. Naw. I will let someone who knows them both do that. I'm sure that will stir a debate also. LOL
  10. Coach Harlow is a better coach than Tucker, weak schedules vs strong schedules, la de da, la de de, and a partridge in a pear tree. How many State Championships banners has Harlow won since he has been at Bradley vs Tucker at Walker Valley? I think it's nose to nose at 0 - 0. Playing strong teams - losing a lot and winning a few vs playing weak teams - winning a lot and losing a few. Both prepare you in different ways. Both coaches I am sure have their reasons for both. Bottom line is if you don't bring home the Gold from the Murf, whomever you have played during the regular season, weak or strong, are just wins and losses, something to talk and brag about about.
  11. Good luck to both teams!!! Walker Valley inside-outside vs Bradley outside. If Tiff scores under 20, Walker Valley got a very good shot. Foul trouble sitting any starters for a long period of time will be a factor for either team. I like the inside in the 4th quarter when the legs don't support the 3s as well. Walker Valley in a close one, by 3. As for the boys, unless Bradley has a major, major, major letdown after big win vs White Station, and i dont see Kent letting that happen, Bradley should win. Their cannons are way to big for Walker Valleys pistols. I would have to take the points from those peeps saying 40 or 50.......ya'll just getting a little carried away........
  12. Congrats on taking care of business so far this season, posting a 13 - 1 record, with your only blemish being a loss to McMinn Central, which you probably will see at least 3 more times this year, so you will get another shot at them. Stay focused and healthly. Good luck Tuesday @ Bradley !!!!!!
  13. HERE WE GO MUSTANGS, HERE WE GO !!!! ( CLAP, CLAP) HERE WE GO MUSTANGS, HERE WE GO !!!! ( STOMP, STOMP) Getting that student section fired up early !! That should be fun tonight too !! Walker Valley student section vs McMinn Central students. I hope that good sportmanship is showed no matter who wins and lets have a great game. HERE WE GO MUSTANGS, HERE WE GO !!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. If Walker Valley handles the full court press, with minimun turnovers and slows down the McMinn fast break so they have to go to half court sets, Walker Valley should win. Foul troubles for both teams favors WV bench. I think, scrore in mid 50s, Walker Valley wins, mid 60s and above, McMinn wins. Party starts early with JV girls @ 3:30, JV boys @ 4:30, to set the table for the main course.
  15. Did White Station win last night ? Score not posted.
  16. Walker Valley 60 Cleveland 55 Nice Win Ladies !!!!! Both Teams Played Hard
  17. Keep in mind that the 2004 16U AAU Girls National Tourney will be in Chattanooga, Tenn. Everyone will get a chance to see the girls talent pool up close from all over the U.S.
  18. Mindy Cox had a monster game against Meigs County last night. She don't get all the print and hype, like some of the over-rated players in this area do, but believe you me, shes a PLAYER. I don't see anyone stopping Cox or Morris inside. Rest of the match-ups, I don't see that much of a big advantage either way, maybe at point, Butler's size vs Wells quickness. Walker Valley in a close one .... +7
  19. Walker Valley @ Meigs County Tuesday night. Game predictions?
  20. I was just wondering. Thanks for the stats iamoz. Holly is a good player. Sometimes, you just have days like that, but she has to shoot for Cleveland to have a shot to win any game. Shot selection probably the biggest cause of low %.
  21. Cleveland beat Brentwood. Heard Holly Rogers took around 30 shots to get almost 30 points. Granted the game did go to OT, are those stats correct?
  22. Every teams' 5 or more subs, which practice against the starting five everyday, and make them better. How good are these players which make the stars stars!
  23. "Best players win games and championships.....Best politics write excuse speeches" "If there are not great values behind great victories, the victories are pointless" "Every person needs to have their moment in the sun, when they raise their arms in victory, knowing that on this day, at this hour, they were at their very best" "The view from the top is great, but don't miss the many scenic overlooks along the way" "Its hard to beat a person, who never gives up" "What matters is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog" MY Favorite: To Be the best, you have to beat the best!! To be the man, you got to beat the man! woooooo Ric Flair
  24. WOW......Is Angie starting at point? About time that young talent got on the floor and off the bench. Go girl !!! I'm pulling for you !!!
