  1. Just to let you know Mr.Roper, RBS will not be competing in the Class A tournament this year. They are skipping that as they have already received an "at large" bid to the NCAA Tournament where they will play for the National Championship. I fully expect them to beat the University of Tn in the Championship game by atleast 25 maybe more unless they have an off night? :P

Good to see you back Devil !! :thumb:

  2. Ah...but force is NEVER a factor on kicks going into R's end zone, since these are always a touchback. And we all know that a kick is a kick until it ends, and it doesn't end until it becomes dead by rule or it is possessed by R. So even if there is a muff, bat, or kick you still have a touchback. But if there is an illegal bat or kick, you still have a penalty. The PSK spot is R's 20...but since the foul occured behind the basic spot, you penalize from the spot of the foul, half the distance to the goal. If the kick was at the 1-yard-line, half the distance, R's ball, 1st and 10 at the 1/2-yard line.

Bigwes has to wear a white hat on Friday nights ! :thumb:

  3. So the best thing to do is if the ball is going to end up inside the twenty is for the recieving team to hit it or kick it into the end zone so they will get the ball on the 20yrd line.

Not exactly, if you will notice in my answer I said the force that put the ball in the endzone was the kick. If team B intentionally kicks or bats the ball we have a penalty (illegal batting) and if the ball ends up in the end zone and the force that put it there was B's illegal bat or kick.......we now have a safety.

  4. So let me get this straight. If the kicking team recovers a muffed punt on the 1 yard line, its their ball on the one yard line. But if it goes one more yard into the endzone, its a touchback, and the OTHER team gets it back out on the 20??? Boy, thats messed up.

    You are correct sir !

  5. Since we are talking rules....let me throw this scenario out to the group. I am intrested to see what kind of response we get from fans and coaches (officials please hold your comments until we can get some feedback from the rest of the forum).

    Here is the play.

Team A has the ball 4th and 10 from the 50 yard line. Team A decides to punt. Team A's kicker booms a kick. B3 calls for a fair catch at his own 5 yard line. B3 muffs the punt (never posesses it) and the ball rolls into the endzone where team A recovers. What do you got ?

It is first and ten for team B at the 20 yard line as this is a touchback. The "kick" never ended and since the kick was the force that put the ball into the endzone....we have a touchback.

  7. Both should have been automatic first downs. Penalty marked off from the end of the run.

There are only five automatic first downs in high school football. They are as follows

    1. Roughing the passer

    2. Roughing the snapper (scrimmage kick situation)

    3. Roughing the holder (For attempted field goals or PAT's)

    4. Roughing the kicker

    5. Defenisve pass interference

None of the scenarios mentioned by daman_daman are automatic first downs.

  8. Your facemask play should have been 2nd down and 5 (as the infraction occured during the play).

Your UC penalty was administered correctly as it was a "dead ball" hence the play was already over.

  9. It seems coaches ego's and the "win at all costs" mentality has ruined youth sports. We are supposed to be giving them an opportunity to learn and enjoy thier experience.

I witnessed the worst display of sportsmanship I have ever witnessed this season at a Jr Pro football game. I won't go into the specifics...but it was BAD !

  10. I think in the second half at the 2 minute mark the fouls were 10+ on FRA and 2 on York.

These were two very good teams playing pretty good basketball--let the kids decide these games.

If the ref calls it equal IMO it was the type game that someone was going to win on a buzzer beater.

If this isnt whining...I don't know what is.

Ever think the fouls are 10-2 because your team was more aggressive ?

Man to man full court right...?

You said your self that York was in a zone most of the game.

Most teams that play zone tend not to foul as much as a team that is playing helter skelter all over the court.

FRA had a nice run this year....I applaud them for their effort. York has a very strong team and I expect them to be playing for the Gold on Saturday.

Don't come in here and not give YAI the respect this team deserves by starting this 'whining stuff'.

    YOU GOT BEAT !!!
