  1. bumbi had a good race, strang had a great race. i think andrew would tell you banging his knee and the cold he was fighting that week had nothing to do with it. everyone is allowed to have an average day every now and then. just wait till nationals though. there will be alot of factors working in his favor, and i think we could be in for something really special.

  2. espn2 was there Monday. it'll be on saturday at 10:30...right when everyone is racing...i wouldn't be surprised if it's just a local thing though. espn2 usually allots time on sat. mornings for local shows. they did the same thing for david harrison a couple years ago and it was just broadcast in the middle tn area.

  3. kenwoodrun, my coach told me that MBA just got a brand new timing system and this was the reason for the delays. the new system produces basically instantaneous results but takes quite a while to get set up, etc. the old system was able to get things moving more quickly but the results took alot longer.

  4. a few things i have to say about this:

    1. as has already been said, coach harper is a great coach, and an even better person. total class act and the most humble person ive ever met. with all hes accomplished in running i dont see how he doesnt tell everyone he meets how good he was. yet its like pulling teeth to get him to talk about himself. simply put, outside of my family, he's the greatest man ive ever met and someone i look up to a great deal. what i wouldnt give to have another year running for him! (and marshall smith...in my opinion, the 2 best coaches in TN).

    2. like nathan said, some things coach pruitt says need to be taken with a grain of salt. when i first started running i thought he was really obnoxious and rude, but as you go on, you just start to understand his humor (wes, you should know this). when i first read his statements in the paper i laughed because i knew the tone in which he probly said them. but at the same time i knew people would make a big fuss about them. bottom line, coach pruitt's a good guy and runs a great program. i would bet money that he was totally kidding in what he said.

    3. coach pruitt is not a stupid guy. he can read meet results. BA beat MBA at midsouth, and again the very next week at doug hall, and again the next week (by a very large margin, so i hear) in a three way meet. by this point if he actually thought BA was winning because of luck, he would be stupid. again i say, coach pruitt is not stupid. he was joking!

sorry this was so long, but i thought i'd add my thoughts. see yall in memphis at state. peace

  5. thanks westopher....bumbi will definitely more than make up for my points though (i did score 23 i think my junior year but im trying to forget about last season) along with Ross and the others. another big loss which has gone overlooked is 2 of the top 4 or 5 hurdlers in div 2, jonathan gore and RL hesson. with that said, BA still looks strong and has filled some gaps which had plagued us during my days (ie field events)

just curious, who are you trailrunner?

  6. i think you also have to consider the possibility of the 3200 and 800 records being broken. if dusty can run 4:10 or so, he should be able to challenge 9:10 and 1:51. also, the 3200 record was set by a guy whose pr on steeplechase was (i believe) 15:02. dusty broke 15 and bumbalough ran 15:06, so i think the 3200 has to be considered in jeopardy as well.

  7. originaldeuce, you may know more about the politics of football, but i was still right about everything i said. the fact is he went from an NFL offensive coordinator to a high school coordinator...explain that. must be because hes such a good coach, right? and dont say anything about tampa having a winning season the year he was fired. tampa's offense has never had anything to do with any success they've had.

  8. for the record, original ######, steckel did not lose his job...he left. look it up. he did lose his job in tampa bay but thats because hes a sorry offensive coordinator. his departure from the titans was voluntary. and he did not lead the titans to the super bowl. jeff fischer and gregg williams' defense carried that team.

  9. but ask yourself, where does peyton manning go to workout when hes in nashville? when i was at BA he was there more than a couple times to work out. also, i've heard BA's weightroom is now worth 2 million bucks. this according to a somewhat reliable source, so dont quote me. i have yet to see it. i also agree that having a nice weightroom is overrated. its a luxury, true. but as long as its heavy it'll get the job done.

  10. maybe im wrong but i havent seen anything about this on this board. please, im asking politely, lets try and keep dyestat stuff on dyestat and off here. this board is still uncorrupted by that crap on dyestat. theres just way too many people with personal issues against other people and alot of former competitors with some bitterness, etc. on that site. i enjoy this site because everyone gets along. lets keep it that way. take it to the thread thats already on dyestat.

  11. actually vandy was going to host the entire spring fling (all sports) on its campus. i mean, how often have and of you track guys gotten to watch a friend play soccer, or a girlfriend play softball at state? how awesome would it have been to have all 5 sports on one college campus. hows that for atmosphere!! too bad it didnt work out. forget chattanooga's drive. what about knoxville? bristol? and johnson city? pushing 8 hours probably. i'm not sure but i believe the track will be hosted by briarcrest. dont quote me on that though.
