  1. Maryvile will not be playing against Lebron James. The Maryville head coach had just talked with Lebron's school's AD about setting a date for the game and promised to call Maryville back, but soon after this phome call the AD got fired. The new AD that they hired did not want to fool with an extra game, especially with an out-of-state team such as Maryville. Sorry guys! (By the way, my source on this story is 100% reliable)

  2. It turns out that Maryville will not actually be playing against LeBron James this year. They were however only one phone call away from getting the opportuity to. Right after the Maryville head coach had talked with Lebron's school's athletic director, their AD got fired. The new AD they hired did not want to fool with an extra game, especially with an out-of-state team such as Maryville. I know everyone is as disappointed as I am to not get to witness this matchup between Humphrey and James.

  3. I don't know why people think this one's gonna be close. Everyone is underestimating the full ability of this year's Rebel team. They haven't played a full game yet so the stats aren't too impressive...yet. I agree that this one will be a decent game...at first. The starters will be forced to play 3 to 3 1/2 quarters to win 35-14.

  4. Once again, my prediction was nearly correct. 45-3....49-7....same thing. Yes I agree that Morristown West will be a war. Well, it will seem like one compared to the rest of the MHS games, but it will still be a 3 touchdown for the Rebels, 35-14.

  5. You're totally right. Carl and Chris will once again get about 250 yards combined in the 1st half and the 2nd and 3rd strings will keep it up in the 2nd half. Maryville 45-10.

By the way, who noticed how close my Alcoa prediction was?

  6. Maryville 52, Alcoa 17, and I'm being generous to Alcoa too because they will will probably score a couple TD's against our 2nd and 3rd strings in the 4th. Carl will have around 175 yards on 10-15 carries, and McCord may also be close to the century mark. Thompson will also have a good game behind the center showing no fear in his first varsity start. Sorry Alcoa, its not your year, or even your dceade.

Is Maryville playing any teams from other states or any tough teams during X-mas Tourneys or Thanksgiving? I really think that would help them, because teams like White Station play in some major tournaments like the arbys classic, which they won. You must remember East has Marcus Hammond, Hamilton has Courtney Bohannon, BTW has Andre Allen, Bartlett has Ben Frederick, Whitehaven has Josh Peppers...so every game they play is against a team that has a great player. Maryville should really play a tough schedule out side of the region to become familiar with different types of basketball and different styles. Do you guys agree?

I totally agree. Maryville just hasn't had many opportunities. They usually play in the Seymour Tournament at Thanksgiving, and last year they played over at Maryville College against some pretty good teams. But of course great competition always makes a team that much better.

  8. I can happily say that I was not born in a barn, and that yes Lee is gonna lead Maryville to a great season. I'm not sure what you mean about us graduating key post players, because our 2 starting posts from last season are both returning, Stout and Houser, along with Carl Stewart coming in as soon as football is over, which of course will be as soon as the state championship game is through. As far as JV players stepping up, the first guy that comes to mind is Andy Tipton. He is a 6'5 junior and can dunk it any way you want him to. Maryville will most likely have another successful season and will hopefully make it past regional semi-finals.

  9. The most ENTERTAINING game of the year would have to be the Maryville-Bearden game at Bearden. This game had absolutely everything. Winston dunked twice, and I believe Oliver even dunked on a breakaway. Maryville also had an 8-0 run in the span of 8 seconds. This game was also just another unbelieveable performace by Humphrey.

However, the BEST game would be the Bearden-Maplewood game in the state tournament. Maplewood led all the way but Bearden had a strong 4th quarter and ended with Kyle Cruze hitting a bank shot off an offensive rebound at the buzzer to send them to the semis.

  10. No question: Lee Humphrey. Not only do I think that Lee is the best guard in East Tennessee, but I would go as far as to say that he is the best guard in the state period. I happened to be shooting with him for about an hour after school today and I didn't see him miss a single shot for about a 20-minute period; and the shots he were shooting were easily 22-25 feet. He's really gonna be fun to watch this upcoming season.

  11. There's no way anyone in the state last year could have had better fans than Maryville at football or basketball games. Of course, whats the point of having great fans unless you're actually good at a sport. Well, haha, we're dominant in both. We're obviously gonna 3-peat in football, and Humphrey's gonna lead us to state in bball, where we should have belonged last year
