A feel-good personal story for Christmas time: my very active, very independent 83-year-old mom has been dealing well with the loss of her center vision (macular degeneration) except for two things- not being able to drive or cross-stitch. We had tried everything we know to help her see well enough to sew (driving is not realistic, of course). (Continued)

January 17th: Germany-bound once again.

You wonder how many Marc Marianni's there are around the country. "...who walked-on the University of Montana's team and earned a scholarship in his junior year". If Fisher had not seen him play personally while he was watching his son play he would have never been invited to the Titans' camp or anywhere else. How many guys like him get overlooked, especially at the high school level by college coaches?

Headed for the Boro today to see Katie and watch a little Lady Raiders bball.

We eat pretty good around here but tonight was great: Schnitzel Wiener Art (pork schnitzel) and spaetzle (wide noodles) covered with mushroom sauce. It was wunderbar (wonderful)!

Cold front just went through. Dropped 10 degrees, felt like. Very nice.

I get a phone call and walk outside to talk. The score is 16-7 Philly. I come back in and it is 20-19 Titans. So, as a true fan, I did the right thing. I went back outside. Final score Titans 37- Philadelphis 19.

Went to Loretto to Pete's Meat Market under the guise of getting meat when really I went for the peanut brittle. Passed a guy hitchhiking just north of Loretto on the opposite (northbound) side of the road and did a double take. When I went back by later he was walking on the southbound side of the road and, yep, he was carrying his jacket, a backpack, and a chainsaw. Wonder why no one had picked him up.

We're home. Loved every moment we spent in Charleston, can't wait until we go again, reconnected with a good friend, but as always am glad to be home. ..and am tired.

That was probably the worst job of coaching by both coaching staffs that I have ever seen at the end of a football game. Tough loss for UT.

Katie is doing well today and test results are normal! Going home sometime today.

Really nice rain this morning but still 70. Ready for the cool down.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. First time I ever drove 260 miles roundtrip for supper but it was great company and worth it...one time. Most likely never again.

Took a few 100 pics today at the APSU-MTSU game along side my daughter Katie who works for goblueraiders.com some now. Really enjoyed it.

I don't understand major league players who come to bat in the ninth after three walks have filled the bases and then swing at three straight pitches.

A normal game night: Listening to two games on internet keeping volume muted on one at a time, watching a game on internet, watching a game on computer using video TV, and receiving texts and emails. Love it.

Eight days until the long-awaited third American tour of granddaughter Isabella Elaine Thompson-Renz and her entourage (Philipp and Brynn). Can't wait.
