  1. Willie Kemp is a super pg but I don't know if he's better than Prince at this point in his career. Prince can distribute like Kemp, Kemp might have the edge in outside shooting. However, J.P. has the ability to finish above the rim and gets to the rack at will similar to Kemp. Willie Kemp has yet to make a big splash on the national scene but this could be his summer coming up.
  2. In a narrow 64-62 loss to the Ridgeway RoadRunners, White Station senior J.P. Prince poured in 27 points on 7-9 shooting from beyond the arc (that's right 7-9 from trey land) to go along with 11 rebounds and a vicious tomahawk dunk over Ridgeway pg. Jordan Mincy. Prince still needs to fine tune his point of his release on his jump shot, but he seems to be more comfortable shooting the ball from the outside and seems to love playing before a packed house. If Prince continues to shoot like he did against Ridgeway and if either 6'6 wg Colin Cunningham or 6'4 soph DeAndre Bynum can step thier game up White Station could be a dangerous team in the postseason. J.P. Prince is looking more like the best player in AAA basketball these days.
  3. Gomab I don't think you're a White Station fan. To be the champs you got to beat the champs. Can White Station be overrated if they've been dubbed a team growing around a star? White Station is a good team but could be much better The Spartans star is in an offense that is holding him back. Coach William Warren hasn't developed a killer instinct. Their have been several stetches in several games where J.P. hasn't been in the game to help put the nail in the coffin. Prince gets his 20 to 25 a night on sheer talent. J.P. is probably averaging less than 24 minutes a game, but he's a point per minute guy. If he's playing major minutes he's going to give you 30 points a night and as many assists as you want. More minutes translate into more production. It's time for Coach to take the clamps off of Prince and just let him fly. Does anyone affiliated with the White Station program or whose attended a White Staion game agree that J.P. hasn't been unleashed.
  4. This post is to place emphasis on J.P. Prince being the best player in the state of Tennessee. First we take a look at Prince's weaknesses according to the Gomab( and others, and the word on the street). 1) Prince's questionable outside shot 2) Prince's supposed lack of ability to play the point 3) Prince's undefined role as a PG or Wing Forward. Tyler Smith is now ahead of J.P. in your mind because his jump shot is improving but will GoMab please address Tyler's ability to create shots and plays for his teammates with his own dribble. J.P.'s jump shot seems to be improving in your mind GOMAB because your previous post stated J.P. couldn't shoot a lick, but has now been reduced saying J.P'.s jumpshot is questionable. Next, how in the world GOMAB question J.P.'s ability to play the point or debate whether he's a pg or wing forward help your argument that Reginald Delk and Tyler Smith are better than J.P considering J.P. is widely considered a top 5 point guard nationall after battling against the nations's top guards for the past three years of his career. Regardless of position Prince is a basketball player. Gomab, The topic at hand is the best player in the state of Tennessee not the best position player, because if that were the case then the gap between Prince and the next best pg in the class is widening. J.P. might be the only player in the state has the quickness, athleticism, size, length, and talent to guard Willie Kemp or all of the same attributes to guard the state's top junior in Thaddeous Young as has been proven in several head-to-head matchups. Remember J.P. played the point in AAU in a backcourt that featured Willie Kemp, a phenomomal pg in his own right. J.P will be able to play 3 positions on offense in college as well as defend those same positions. He's a winner and Delk is a runner-up. This is not opinion only fact based upon wins and losses. J.P. Prince is such a great penetrator and makes the game of basketball look so easy that he gets knocked for going to the basket at will. If a guy is able to stop him from driving during this season he's showing the ability to keep defenders honest with his jumpshot which is evident by the fact he's shooting over 50 % from the field. J.P. is capable of highlight reel dunks off of his right or left foot which makes him very lethal in the open floor or half court game. Regind Delk can definitely knock down the three and according to Gomab is improving his ability to drive to the basket but when you put J.P.'s 6'11 Tayshun Prince-like wingpspan in front of his face, that shot will adjust a bit. Whereas Prince will drive on Delk or anyone else in this nation and dish if he has. When Gomab makes a trip to Memphis, Tennessee to see J.P. he can start talking about J.P. Considering Jackson is right down the road it's not hard to see the Delk twins, so drive about an hour and a half past Jackson to Memphis so you don't have to quote secondary sources to validate Reginald Delk or Tyler Smith's superiority over Prince. One thing is for certain J.P. has much work to do to seperate himself from the rest of the pack, and there is no reason to believe that the work will not be done.
  5. Thaddeous Young might not be better than Brandon Wright but both have big time game. Thad is a wing and Brandon Wright is a post player. I don't know if they're is a more efficient player in high school basketball than Thaddeous and Brandon certaintly is one of the best shot blockers in recent memory. People seem to forget that Thad is almost 6'9 and Brandon Wright is about 6'10 and they probably weigh about the same. Only time will tell who is the better player. I believe Thaddeous has produced better number over his career than Wright 26pts 15reb and 6 blocks but Wright's number can't be far behind.
  6. A game that was expected to be a contest turned into an early rout when Arizona signee J.P. Prince decided to takeover. Prince brought the houses down when he wrapped the ball behind his back and turned it into a reverse two hand slam that was so spectacular the referee called a technical because he choked on his whistle. Another highlight reel dunk this time one handed in the face of a Cordova defender capped the night off. This kid does things on the basketball floor that most 6'7 guys dream of, it just happens Prince is a guard and the best senior in the state of Tennessee.
  7. There must be some force within this website that still believes that a nationally ranked top 25 player is still not the best player in the state. J.P. Prince started out as a top 10 guy entering his sophomore year when he was about 6'3 1/2 and by his senior year he's grown to 6'7 and surpassed everyone else in the state who was ranked ahead of him except Reginal Delk so this season will be no different. Prince is averaging over 30 points per game and close to a triple double. It will be great to see a potential Parade All-American take Mr. Basketball but remain ranked behind a Delk who's talented but also is mentored by whoever makes these rankings. Prince will see him in March.
  8. There must be some force within this website that still believes that a nationally ranked top 25 player is still not the best player in the state. J.P. 9. The point totals that Delk scored in an individual matchup doesn't mean a hill beans in a losing effort. It's easy to score points when you're down a bunch and your team revolves around only you and your brother, but J.P.'s AAU revolved around him making everone around him better and learn to share the ball and consequently his team finished 2nd in the nation. The Delk's lost to Prince in the State AAU championship and AAA title game, enough said. Prince is a top 25 guy and certainly the best pg in the South. Lay it down GOMAB or Prince will make you eat your words. If there was a way to track previous comments I told you months ago exactly what would happen and it happened.
  10. Through 2 games White Station's J.P. Prince a 6'7 guard is averaging almost 35 points a game. Though it's early in the season Prince looks to be the front runner in the race for Mr.basketball in AAA along with the Delk twins and Tyler Smith. Prince who's considered one of the nations top playmakers has been forced to show the rest of the state his expanded offenseive reportoire and he's practically dunking the ball every time he touches it. Prince is also the first player from the state of Tennessee to sign with the University of Arizona.
  11. The YOMCA 17-and-under squad might be one of the most talented AAU teams ever assembled. When you look at the squad for what they are worth they are loaded. J.P. Prince 6'6 is now proving he is indeed one of the nation's point guards and he might be the best passer in the nation. 6'8 Pierre Niles is a man child and is the one of the most imposing physical force in the nation. 6'9 Thaddeous Young not only is a great student but an exceptional athlete who could have a long pro career ahead of him. 6'8 wing forward Shawne Williams is back to his old form running, jumping, dunking, and shooting the cover off of the basketball. The talent in the city of Memphis is just unbelievable. The University of Memphis is rumored to have a strong hold on each of these players I've listed. Memphis basketball is unrivaled in the state.
  12. the Nike Camp runs July 6-10 and J.P. Prince The Delk Twins, Jamont Gordon, Roseaun Cromwell, Pierre Niles and company will be in attendance. Is there any word on Tyler Smith who I believe broke his hand a few weeks ago. By the time he gets healthy his top spot in the state might be gone. Prince recently has been offered by Arizona and Texas after a good showing at the NBA camp that left coaches believing that a 6'7 kid could indeed run their college program at the point guard. Not taking anything away from Richard Delk and his top 4 ranking among pg's, but I don't think Richard Delk is as good a passer, ball handler, or distributor as Prince though he is a better shooter. If you look at www.theinsidershoops.com Jamont Gordon and Tyler Smith are ranked in the top 30. Prince is ranked 54 and Reginald Delk is ranked in the late 90's now this is nationally not statewide. So with personal feelings else aside J.P. Prince is a better prospect than the Delk Twins and should be right behind Smith and Gordon but like always he will just continue to display skills that are unmatched around the nation.
  13. J.p. Prince can matchup from the 1-4 position with anyone in the state. Thaddeous Young however will end up being the best player coming out of Memphis since Penny Hardaway because he's long ,quick, efficient and he might not be through growing at 6'9. Tyler Smith will have trouble guarding J.P. of the dribble unless he's an all world defender becuase Prince can get to the whole and pass at will.
  14. How did J.P. Prince and company look in the MTSU team camp from what I hear they played well?
  15. The Delk twins together might be better than one J.P Prince, but neither individually are as good as Prince. Prince is ranked #45 in the nation according to and is playing well at the NBA Players Top 50 Camp in Virginia as we speak. Tyler Smith, Reginald Delk, and Richard Delk, nor Jamont Gordon can do wait JP can do on a basketball court. You might not have seen Prince in a while but his jump shots improving as he's been making the outside shot over the summer. Prince can break down any player in the state and do whatever he wants with them. If you can't can steal the basketball from him, you can't stop him. Anyone who tries to steal Prince's ball ends up on the ground the latest victim of a viscous crossover. This kid blocks shots standing still. Prince's basketball IQ is just higher than the rest of the bunch (thank's to the fact he's always played the point), and he's much longer and has more potential than the Delk twins. Prince plays with top caliber players all year and the Delk's team's aren't as good. Prince average 15 points 5 rebounds and 6 assist on a team that was putting up big time numbers. He should average 20 points 10 rebounds 8 assist in his sleep this season. The talent is just oozing out of this kid and he's just beginning to assert himself and he's always been a winner. Prince has 3 state titles under his belt and he's going for #4. The rest of this summer is going to force everyone to stop denying who is the best player in that state because you can't deny the truth and none of the state of Tennessee wants to see 6'7 190lb pg J.P. Prince on a basketball floor. He plays in Memphis where the best basketball is played in Tennessee. But remember he's 16 and the legend is just growing. Once the summer is over the question won't be is J.P. Prince the state's top player but how high should he be ranked in the top 25 nationally.
  16. Once the summer is over it might be time to change your rising seniors ranking list. Tyler Smith is still steady at the #1 slot but Jamont Gordon and J.P. Prince are right on his tail. The summer Prince is having so far is distancing himself from the Delk Twins because Prince is clearly taller, longer, and more talented and he's able to run his team better. Next year's Mr. Basketball race in AAA might be tought to decide on. Class of 2005 player rankings 1. Tyler Smith 6'7 SF Giles County 2. J.P. Prince 6'7 PG White Station 3. Jamont Gordon 6'3 SG Glencliff 4.Reginald Delk 6'5 SG Jackson Northside 5.Richard Delk 6'4 PG Jackson Northside
  17. Willie Kemp is playing as well and is a big-time prospect out of Jackson.
  18. The YOMCA 17 and under squad will be preparing for a national title run afer picking up 6'7 pg J.P Prince and 6'9 prep school bound All- American Shawne Williams and 6'8 Joseph Watkins of Hamilton. Add those three to the already talented front line of 6'10 Wayne Chism, 6'9 Thaddeous Young, and 6'7 Pierre Niles and the Y is preparing for yet another National title run. The Y will be in New Orleans this weekend for a tournament.
  19. According to the insiderhoops.com J.P. Prince is now 6'7 and weighs 185 lbs. and is listed as the number 9 point guard prospect in the nation. Prince is also the biggest point guard prospect in he nation. After averaging 15 points six rebounds and 5 assists as a junior Prince is preparing for a big-time senior season. Prince's list of college choices has been narrowed down to 5. Stanford, Kentucky, Memphis, Mississippi State, and North Carolina State make up that list. J.P. will attend the Nike All-American Camp in mid-June and then will prepare to take his skills to the NBA Players Association Top 100 camp. The best thing about this kid besides his unbelievable upside and ability to break down guys at will off of the dribble, is that he's still only 16 years old and might not be through growing being that his mother is almost 6 feet tall and father is almost 6'6. He will enter college similar to the way Vincent Yarborough entered Tennessee as a young freshman. Scout's are saying Prince is one of the better ball handlers and distributors in the nation, and for a guy his size Scout's love his vision on the basketball floor and have compared him to a combination of Lamar Odom, Shan Livingston, and Tashuyn Prince who happens to be his cousin.. Prince is a big-time shot blocker and could lead the city in assist and steals as well. Prince recently filled the stat sheet against the nation's top point guard Mario Chalmers in a recent Tournament in Houston while playing for Memphis Pump N' Run with an all-around 14 point, 8 rebound, 6 assist, 3 block, 3 steal effort. Prince has the ability to guard every position on the floor in high school despite his frame which he makes up for with a 6'11 wingspan. The sky is the limit for this kid who happens to sport a 3.4 gpa. Prince probably will be suiting up for the Memphis YOMCA 17's this summer so their is a possibility that some of the state's top rising seniors such as Jamont Gordon and Tyler Smith might have to see him even though Prince will be running his team from the point position.
  20. Remember my statement to Bradley fans here in Tennessee which basically summed up your season in a nutshell. When all the dust setled and everyone was brought down off of their pedistal and realized White Station was #1 the bulk of the posts ceased. You celebrated at the Arby's Classic but forgot to put your jock stra[ on in the State and that's just the way it happens. With Tippett retiring the door might be open for future state title matchups for Bradley Central. With the talent being better in Memphis more so than any other city or region, East Tennessans must satisfy themselves with facing each other but ending up shortin both AA and AAA baskteball for a number of years. If Prince and company return to the State next year they'll be waiting and ready.
  21. This is for MG; Some guy from Dyersburg had a face full after J.P. dunked on him. It was all over the news. We call it a poster down here. Dyersburg got spanked and playing within 15 points is not a moral victory. Small town, big town, you still have to play the game.
  22. Remember that Reginald Delk will have to meet up with White Station and the most talented junior 6'7 J.P. Prince. Notice I said talented because he's a young junior at 16 years old and he's still maturing as a player.
  23. Despite mant detractors who said J.P Prince couldn't shoot his shooting has improved over the season and he's even started to consistently make the outside shots he takes, but he takes good shots not bad ones. Prince's ability to direct a team and play defense on ball and guard just about anyone on the floor makes him as valuable as any junior in the state. The kid can go out and get 5 blocks, 10 assists, or 5 steals, and not worry about scoring. He's just that versatile. Prince is now 6'7 and has grown an 1' 1/2 since the season began. If Prince's only weakness was supposed to be work ethic on defense and shooting he might be starting to shake those off. His dominating postseason performances on both ends against Hamilton, Fairley, Ridgeway, and Dyersburg will be remebered in the hearts of White Station fans. I'm waiting on a possible Jackson Northside White Station game. It would be interesting to see Reginald Delk operate against a defender much longer than him who is just as athletic.
  24. Bradley Central had a big celebration after beating the mighty Spartans in the finals of the Arby's classic this past weekend, because they are not used to winning the big games. I guarantee you fans that if White Station had won they would not have been jumping up and down as if they had won the state title. They would have taken the trophy and smiled and went back to Memphis. Had White Station won, there wouldn't have been 3 seperate headlines on coach.t regarding their third straight defeat of Bradley Central. Rest assure Bradley fans Courtney Pilgram won't miss those open threes again, and Reiley Ervin won't miss the from end of a one and one again, and that Prince will find a way to get it done besides great passes and blocked shots. The Spartans will be in better shape the next time they run off from Bradley in the first quarter, and just as in past years will keep the fans relatively quiet. Their won't be a team in the semi-finals of the state with as much talent as the team from Puerto Rico with a 7'3 big man that many don't realize is a future pro or a 7'0 beside that is being recruited by the likes of UCLA. So celebrate and bask in this victory because if these two teams meet again expect an all out war. Hope to see the rematch of what it feels like to avenge what a paper quoted as "Sweet Revenge" for Bradley Central.
  25. Tyler Smith is avery good athlete blessed with the ability to shoot it from the outside, but in order to be considered one of the top in the nation or even the best in your class you have to be able to create your own shot off the dribble. Tyler can't do that right now which probably goes back to his work ethic. Being physically stronger than most on the high school level will change once he enters college, and if you can't get a shoot from anywhere on the floor off the dribble you aren't a star but maybe just a good player on the college level. So for now Tyler Smith is probably the most advanced of the juniors and deserves his #1 ranking, but being #1 means that guys are knocking at your door to take your spot.
