  1. This message is to Twhoops who was quoted as saying the homegrown boys from Bradley beat the Memphis dream team. This comment will correct your ignorance. J.P Prince and Colin Cunningham have attended White Station since the seventh grade. Courtney Pigram has been at White Station for four years and wasn't recruited by Tippett, but simply played freshman J.V. and finally became a starter his 12th grade year. John Ball was an excellent student at Belleue junior high who decided to attend White Station for academics and he signed with Dartmouth an ivy league school. Taylor Scall attended White Station for academics and signed with Yale another ivy league school. Reiley Ervin attended White Station for academics and actually has an offer on the table from Harvard another ivy league school.. J.P Prince has already qualified and has a 3.4 gpa. Colin Cunningaham's gpa is approaching 4.0 which might lend him provided he improves a scholarship from an ivy league school. So is your comment really about recruiting. White Station high school for many Memphians who want to succeed is a way of life. Tippett simply is a great coach. If Tippett had the luxury of recruiting players then maybe he would have had more talent to play against Bradley Central, your homegrown boys as you say.
  2. Bradley has a great game and wins by 5 White Station doens't play to Coach Tippett's liking and loses by 5. Tippett would prefer to win with passing and good shot selection instead of long range shooting from Pilgram but this loss will allow Tippett to shot why White Station proves naysayers wrong. The people who respond about White Station n some of the message board post are only on the bandwagon and speaking on WSHS record. But the Bradley Central fans have been quiet for a reason, they were apprehensive about losing to White Statiopn again. But rest assure Bradley confidence will remain high and White Station will go back to Memphis and battle Ridgeway and get ready for the region and hopefull the Sub-State and another run at the state title. If White Station gets to the championship game they know how to finish it.
  3. Congratulations to Bradley Central for becoming the champions of the prestigous Arby's classic and earning a win over the White Station Spartans. This is great for Bradley Central and even better for the White Station Spartans. Being the best team in the state doesn' mean that you won't ever lose because sometimes you have your days and Bradley is a very good team. But make no mistake Coach Tippet actually expected for this team to take a loss before Christams and what better time than on a trip where many saw White Station domininate opponents before being ousted by Bradley. Coach Tippett is the master of motivating and adjusting to situations and this only motivates his players to get in the gym and work harder. Tippett now doens't have to tell his team they could be beat but, because now they have been beat. Over the last 4 years Tippet has lost only 2 games in Memphis and his other losses came in out of town tournaments so this is only the beginning. If Coach T could only get his most talented player J.P. Prince to work harder in practice and in his off time on his jump shot this kid would be great. Not looking at the score I imagine that Courtney Pigram didn't have agreat shooting day and the White Station offense centers around penetrating and kicking to a streaky yet deadly shooter like Pilgram. Now Coling Cunningham, Taylor Schall, John Ball, Riley Ervin, and especially Prince must get in the gym and do waht makes them consistantly the best team around practice hard and play as a team. If White Station meets Bradley again then it will be when it really counts with all the marbles on the line not just for a holiday tournament title.
  4. Jamont Gordon needs to come to Memphis and play against a team like White Station that plays defense who specializes in shutting guys down and more importantly bringing fans egos down about their star players. White Station has shut down such stars as Julius Hodge, Sebastian Telfair, Shawne Williams. Not taking anything away from the numbers that Jamont Gordon is putting up, but guys like Jamont and Corey Brewer are playing aginst lesser competition. But one thing I can say about Gordon is he's a tremendous player and is doing what he's supposed to be doing.
  5. Courtney Pigram a 6'0 guard at White Station without a doubt has to be the top shooter in the state after averaging 6 threes per game and almost 23 points per game in his first three contest.
  6. Charles Hampton at Bishop Byrne is about 6'1 and has to be one of the top dunkers in the state. J.P. Prince 6'6 1/2 at White Station will also catch lobs, catch balls off the rim and give you some big time highlight reel dunks.
  7. J.P. Prince out of White Station is developing into a big time scoring threat at White Station and is capable of leading the city in blocks and steals from the point guard position. At the jamboree against Raleigh Egypt Prince dominated the game with blocks and a nasty behind the back reverse dunk on a defender. Prince is known for his length but what separates him from other wing's his size is his ability to pass the ball and run a team. Prince's ability to break his defender down off the dribble is what makes him special. Regardless of what many scouts will tell you about the talent Delk twins, Tyler Smith, or Jamont Gordon, J.P. Prince is a special kid that was born to play in big games and must be talented if at 6'6 1/2 he started at point over Reiley Ervin. The best thing about Prince is his upside and the fact he will continue to grow and is just a kid who won't be 17 until July and unlike Tyler Smith or others doesn't have to worry about scoring because of his natural poing guard skills. Prince's size at his position will make him a big-time mismatch at the college level for most point guards. Prince has played pg since he was young and enjoyed a 7 inch growth spurt over 2 years.
  8. Hakim's Warrick final block in the closing seconds of the Kansas v.s Syracuse game was similar ro many blocks I've seen J.P. Prince accomplish. At this age Prince is only 2 inches shorter and is giving away 2 inches in wingspan to the 6'8 Warrick who has a 7'0 foot wingspan. Prince is very athletic as Warrick and blocks shoots and creates havoc with his wingspan like Warrick. Prince is flat out the best ball-handler for his size in the nation in his class. Prince is set to explode on the scene at this summer's Nike All-American camp. Prince is 6'6 1/2 and weighs 170 and is 15 years old. Prince is a combination of a slasher like a Keith Langford, a passer like Lebron James, and a condor on defense like Hakim Warrick. I would not be so high on the kid unless I as well as others in Memphis believ this kid is something special and can't imagine that they are too many other gifter kids that come along like Prince. If all the fans of Tyler Smith don't do anything else next season you should all make a trip down to White Station High to be witness to a legend in the making at White Station. A kid that stands tall over the rest like Penny, and rises to the occasion in big games with big time blocks, alley oop dunks, no look passes, and sound and steady leadership from the point guard position. This kid has the potential to be a first round pick in 4 years with hard work and dedication. Lofty expectations for a former 5'10 eighth grade point guard who has grown 8 inches in two years and continues to improve.
  9. J.P Prince of White Station High is 6'6 and has more potential than all of the prospects on the sophomore list. He's no where threw growing his father being 6'7 and his mother 6'0. He has big time tatooed on his forehead. Prince has the wingspan of a 6'11 player. He can handle it with the best, pass, score with ease, and he has an unbelievable knack for altering and bloacking shots as well as filling the passing lines for big-time breakaway dunks, and best of all he has point guard instincts.
  10. Memphis Hamilton whic is traditionally a Memphis powerhouse a who is home to maybe the state's top junior 6'9 wing forward Shawne Williams and one of the better senior's in the state in 6'8 wing forward Courtney Bohannan has now added arguably the 2nd best point guard in Memphis behind Andre Allen in 5'10 senior Mario Lusk out of Manassas. Lusk who averaged closed to 20 points and 10 assist as a junior played for the Memphis Yomca aau squad and attended the nike all-american in Indianapolis over the summer seems to be happy with his transfer. Lusk is a very dynamic point guard with lightning quickness,a Harlem Globetrotter type handle of the rock including a devestating hesitation crossover step back which sends many defenders to the ground is also adept at shooting the deep three as well as the ability to hit the mid range jumper also has the abilty to blow past a defender and finish above the rim. Adding Lusk to the plethora of talent at Hamilton only sures up their backcourt with 5'10 combo guard Dustin Richmond who will retrun this season from a broken wrist.
  11. For all the people on this site who feel you have one of the better teams in your area feel good, because remember it's in your area. Desptie losing 7 seniors from the 2002 state title team White Station who won the state last year returns two of the state's top seniors in 6'3 220 lb. Tennessee commit Dan Bradshaw who was an all state selection and 6'2 sharp-shooter Travis Strong who was the spartans leading scorer. 6'2 senior Leon Pattman scored big baskets in the state title game against Science Hill. 6'1 senior Quinten Marion and 6'3 senior Curtis Gatewood played signifigant minutes last year. Now this is where it get's interesting. Now this is where it get's interesting. In the junior class 6'3 Jonathan Ball is one of the better players in his class in the state and started on the Yomca squad that finsished 7th at the 16 and under nationals also speedy 5'9 pg Reily Ervins will lead the second squad at point along with 6'7 transfer Taylor (forget his last name) out of Arkansas might be the key to the middle for White Station. 6'3 leaper Staurt Lott should earn some minutes on the post. Now the sophomore class at White Station is really loaded despite the loss of 6'4 shooting guard Michael Rice to Ridgeway. 6'5 pg J.P. Prince heads the class and colud go down as one of the greats to ever to come through White Station. Also 6'5 left handed swing man Colin Cunningham can really shoot the rock and 6'5 post player Nick Moody has great touch around the basket. Also White Station is grooming a giant for Memphis basketball standards in 6'6 240 pound freshman Chris Williams who is only 13 years old but already wears a size 18 shoe and has huge yet soft hands around the basket. White Station's record over the past three years is something like 96-8 including 32-4 in 2000 and 34-2 record in 2002. All that combined with 2 time AAA coach of the year Terry Tippet could spell 3 state titles in 4 years for Coach Terry Tippet. So all the East Tennessee teams should start working hard for 2nd.
  12. No offense Try but there is no way in the world that Jordan Mincy a legit 5'9 1/2 point guard is better than J.p. Prince a 6'5 pg. J.p and Jordan have had battles in their neighborhood community center and everytime J.P. has really given it to Jordan even though Mincy is an excellent passer and floor general. Prince is just a good as ball handle and has a tremendous wingspan whic gives opponents on defense with his shot blocking ability. They both play in the CBl competitive basketball league in Memphis where many of the Memphis Area basketball players play on Sunday evenings. asked around and you'll find out that Prince has had battles with som of the bigger names in Memphis including Josh Peppers.Prince actually could be ranked as the top in Memphis from the 1 through 3 position depending on where he plays at White Station. Mincy will be transferring to Ridgeway but just for his luck he won't be eligible until the postseason. Top pg's 1.J.P Prince 6'5 White Station High 2.Jordan Mincy 5'10 Ridgeway H.s 3. Rico Seay 5'11 Raleigh Egypt
  13. J.P. Prince out of Memphis White Station is going to be the #1 soph in the state by seasons end. He's 6'5 and still growing possess a 6'10 wingspan is left-handed and best of all he plays the point. He runs the floor block shots plays above the rim, in the passing lanes and averaged over 25 points 10 rebounds 10 assists and around 4 blocks for and undefeated freshman squad. Note the varsity squad at White Station was loaded and won the state title themselves. I'll put him up against any of the East Tennessee players ranked ahead of him and he didn't play AAU this summer, but he will be with the Memphis YOMCA next year.he top sophomore in the state resides in Memphis
