Webb 10 Clinton 2
Webb 11 Campbell County 2
Webb started J.T. Blair pitching against Clinton. He struggled a little early and then settled down and pitched well, he struck out 3 or 4 batters and only allowed 2 hits. He was relieved in the 4th by Bo Johnson who got the first 3 batters he faced out. Webb hit the ball very well. Charlie Seivers hit a homerun.
Zach Gosselin started pitching against CC. He pitched well for the 1 1/3 innings he pitched. He struck out 3 batters. He was relieved by Patrick Kimmons who also pitched well and finished up the game. A bunch of spartans hit doubles in this game as Webb's hitting continued to roll. Brian Cronk hit a homerun.
There were a few walks, I don't think Nate had an at bat all night (hit by pitch once, walked twice) and we had another player walked twice, but it wasn't too bad. Mainly it was Errors that hurt them. We scored 12 runs in the 2nd or 3rd inning (and got through the entire batting order without an out being recorded). I think they are a better team than that. Webb did have something like 20 hits on the night.
Webb won 22-6. I don't know the names of the guys who pitched for Mo West but the guy who started pitching batted 4 and played 2nd after he was taken out, they used 3 pitcher (They had a scrimmage last night that Spencer pitched in). Nate Hall pitched 4 1/3 for Webb and gave up one run (HR by Matt Spencer). A.J. Kirby relieved Hall and surrendered 5 runs. Zach Gosselin and Kirby both hit homeruns for Webb.
Well, everybody hit the ball up and down the line up for Webb. Jordan Wormsley started the scrimmage and pitched 3 or 4 innings and gave up 3 runs. A.J. Kirby pitched next for 2 innings and gave up 1 run. J.T. Blair finished the game and gave up no runs. Brian Bibee and Patrick Kimmons had very good games offensively, both hitting doubles (Kimmons was about a foot low of being a homerun). One kid did hit a homerun for OR but I don't know who he was... he was the 5th batter or so.
The two teams started playing in the rain and finished when the clouds were finally gone. Webb won 12-9, but Powell didn't bat their last abat. Patrick Kimmons pitched 4 innings, giving up 6 runs and Nate Hall pitched 2, giving up 3 runs. It was a very sloppy game, most of the runs were scored on errors for both teams.
You never really can tell until about half way through April. We are returning 7 guys who started last year and only lost one pitcher from last years team.
