1. Can anyone tell me the four girls teams that will be heading to state in A-AA next week to compete? I believe all of the matches have been completed, but if the TSSAA website keeps up its record they wont update for at least several days

  2. Sacrifice????...can you honestly think that any public school parent/student can relate to $7,000.

How about your neighborhood schools....you would identify what I mean as being "zoned".....exactly how does DL's boundaries work???.......yeah...right

You act like respect from your teammates is only "special" to you and DL.

I didn't say that respect is special to DL. I've seen a number of other teams that show the same sort of unity on the field with the same sort of results. The bottom line is this, its hard to beat a bunch of guys who are playing their hearts out with their buddies. Lipscomb is one of those teams, not the only one, but one of them.

BTW, you still haven't explained why paying for school makes someone a better football player.

  3. Congrats to Lexington on a fine season ...they did things this year the old-fashioned way.

UGHHHH....the multiplier reeks.......and the beast is still loose. I tried to tell the Lexington folks what they were up against.......well.....now it's time to see how DL can upgrade their schedule to include more "multiplier schools" that are more challenging to their level. While I did post this week....I feel for the Lexington community. The idea of pitting towns and small cities against private ...er...I mean.... institutions of "higher" learning is downright disgusting. A community gets behind a group of "homegrown" kids from "ALL" walks of life and gets pitted against someone who has 7,000 reasons to be playing together with someone else who has 7,000 reasons to play alongside them......what justice is there????

DL has a very good team...I have said that all along......c'mon Ronnie Carter be realistic and "boot"all of the multipliers into their own league.......

You're right bulldog, the fact that somebody's family is able to afford (often at great sacrifice) a private school automatically makes their child a better football player. Take a look at Lipscomb's roster; compare size and speed to almost anybody they play against. Lipscomb will come up short every time.

Lipscomb's secret doesn't have anything to do with money. The true difference is that these kids are willing to line up and do whatever they have to do for their teammates on every play of the game. It's about heart, bulldog. As a former player, I can tell you that I knew every other guy on that field in the purple and gold was going to be laying his body on the line every play for the team. That's something money can't buy -- true respect for and from your teammates.

Go on and say what you like bulldog. The fact of the matter is Lipscomb is a group of classy young men who play their hearts out every Friday night. You can't fault guys like that for winning.

  4. ...If you're in the jungle, you will be the only one there. You will also be the only one there with negative trick points. Minus 4 trick points.

Mark, I hate to see a fellow CoachT-er sit for more than a half a day with negative trick points, so I've decided to do something about it. I'm awarding you 5 trick points for letting me and a friend in the other day to get a lift in.

    Net trick points = +1.

Also, I'm taking 5 trick points away from vandy1 for not participating in the thread in over 36 hours. Even when you get burned, you must still come back for more. Some people are merely there for the entertainment of others.

  5. Where is the East Tennessee Football Expert?

Word has it he's been a little too busy in the classroom to make it to the boards. Maybe you can catch him in your "web" and pull him back to the keyboard for some R&R.

Now for what we're really worried about, the scoring:

    - Chuck will no doubt tell at least one player that he has been benched by Coach Mac for the week, automatic 10 trick points to MC.

    - If the Tigers can keep Binkley from making any tackle on a single drive, they will be awarded 3 trick points.

    - The Tigers will earn 2 trick points for each Ford Hillin overthrow during the game.

    - If the Tigers can manage to get "Welcome to the Jungle" played over the PA system at any point in the game, they will be awarded 5 trick points (Bonus 20 points if it is played 3 or more consecutive times at least an hour before gametime.)

    - If the Tigers manage to have gametime moved once the team has already arrived, they will be awarded 8 trick points.

    - If Coach Weber trys to "pull one over" on someone at any point during the game, the Tigers will be awarded 5 trick points.

    - If Coach Taylor says "If it's too good to be true..." on the sidelines at any time during the game, the Tigers will be awarded 5 trick points.

    - If Coach Temple is caught drawing up plays for next year's middle school season at any time with 2 hours of gametime, the Tigers will be awarded 5 trick points.

    - If Coach Stewart begins jumping on the sidelines at any point during the game, the Tigers will be awarded 5 trick points.

    - If Coach Tillman is found racking weights in the weight room anytime within 2 hours of gametime, the Tigers will be awarded 5 trick points.

    - If Coach Mac makes any statement on the sidelines that cannot be understood by 3 or more people, the Tigers will be awarded 5 trick points.

    - If Marshall County causes the game clock to stop at any point during the 4th quarter when the rules do not call for it to be stopped, they will be awarded 50 trick points.

Disclaimer: Trick points are not in any way related to the points on the scoreboard. Everything here is made up and the points do not matter.

Bomb Squad: Fa, la, la, la...la, la, la...la- The twins can't wait to meet you under the mistletoe.

Oh, He's gettin' nuttin' for Christmas

    Billy and Chuck are mad.

    He's getting nuttin' for Christmas

'Cause he ain't been nuttin' but bad.

Chuck told me that Mac has benched you for attempting to put mistletoe on the boards, vandy1. Looks like the show will need a new reporter, I nominate BombSquad

  7. ... Where the treetops glisten, and children listen to hear cowbells in the snow.

Professor Gaither has inspired me: I will attempt what some might consider impossible, others improbable, and still others preposterous... My goal for the week is simply to use Christmas carols in all of my posts. So here's to the 'Stangs Thumpety Thump Thump, Thumpety Thump Thumping the Bobcats.

With Christmas fast approaching and BombSquad on the subject, I feel I have to ask the age-old question. What's your favorite christmas carol?

    28 - 7 Mustangs

  8. so what does dl have this year?

    825730907

    On offense, look for:

    1 Quarterback

    2 Running Backs

    5 Linemen

1 Tight End (should probably just be counted as a lineman, not like he'll catch anything)

    1 Wingback

    1 Split End

    And defense:

    2 Safeties

    2 Corners

    2 Outside Linebackers

    1 Middle Linebacker

1 "Stud" (an End for the uninitiated)

    2 Defensive Ends

    1 Defensive Tackle

That's 11 on both sides. Pretty standard. The real question is more about how these guys are going to play. I think they'll take it up a notch from last week.

    DL - 13

  9. So who wins the contest for knowing the most about Ohio?

    825726788

I'm awarding 3,000 trick points to vandy1 for his knowledge of schools in Ohio. I can only hope that one day he'll know as much about the local schools as he does about the ones 300+ miles away.

  10. Once again.....another useless Lipscomb thread.

Heaven for bid you talk about football, players to watch, game strategies, stats, history or even the game itself.

I suggest Coacht lock this one and add to your total. You guys must have the record for locked threads and wasted drive space.

What a shame that a few Lipscomb fans give the rest such a bad reputation.

    Good luck to both teams.

    825726623

Well, we now have some solid strategies on the table. I haven't seen anything about the lines yet though, so I'll make a few contributions there since I don't think the game on Friday is a 7-on-7 passing competition. I'm don't really know what to expect from Greenbrier, but having been one of the most intelligent linemen in DL history, I have a pretty good idea about what the Mustang coaches will be saying this week.

For the offensive line, I'm expecting some decent play. I expect the center to put the ball between his legs on a regular basis. You should expect to see the line as a whole getting in the way of the Bobcats. Should the Mustangs decide to pass, I think the line's number one goal will be to keep the Bobcat defenders away from quarterback Clay Smith. If given the opportunity, I think the Lipscomb blockers may even knock down an opposing player just to make sure the 'Brier knows they mean business.

As for the defensive line, I expect them to get in the backfield and try to mess some things up back there. If the man carrying the ball happens to run by them, don't be surprised if they reach out and tackle him. Expect to see lots of swim-moves and spin-moves as the Mustang line looks for the pigskin. Should someone lose control of the ball, expect the Lipscomb D-line to try to pick it up and score.

On players to watch: If I were HARD like you, I'd make sure to keep an eye on whoever has the ball. Be careful though, I've known coaches to be sneaky and try to make you think one person has the ball when someone else really has it.

For game strategies, call me crazy, but I'd expect the Mustangs to attempt to score more points than the Bobcats. The Bobcats aren't stupid though, they know what the Mustangs game plan looks like, and I expect to see them put a few points of their own up.

COACHHARD, hope this has given you some insight into what to expect from this game. If you really want some history, I'd suggest checking your local library. I hear they have some great books, probably all the history you'd want. Let me suggest the early Roman Republic as a good starting place. Hail Caesar!

  11. get a life 14th grade

    825726328

Now that's originality at its finest. 10,000 trick points to Baseball17. Congratulations, this moves you into first place in trick points for the 2005 season on CoachT and makes you the front-runner for rookie of the year. I'm glad that you used the first post of your CoachT life in such a meaningless way. If you're going to call people out, get a little credibility first. All this aside, thanks for playing.

  12. (cough*cough*) You forgot to capitalize the word, "English"........

    825723690

Oh Grammar Czar, allow me to remind you that everyone makes mistakes, take your use of *'s for instance. Proper usage is one on each side of the verb. If you are going to use them, use them correctly.

  13. Except for you, Bomb.  Your special overflo parkin' spot's located at Travis Price Park in Sprangfield, just a short jaunt to the north.  So don't miss the publicly-funded yeller short bus.  Oh, yeah, and remember, the park closes at 10...for outta-towners!

    825723634

"Yeller short bus"... Let's hope your team plays football better than you use the english ( *cough* *cough* ) language.

Anyway, I expect a close game, Mustangs win by 3 on a field goal in the 3rd quarter

  14. FYI Lipscomb is not a Catholic school. and bomb squad we like our cougar meat RAW RAW RAW!!!!

    825433750

Ahh yes.. the infamous cougar meat. I heard that consumption was limited at the last game due to decisions by the powers-that-be. Any word yet on whether the administration is going to once again allow full-scale feasting?

  15. There is a Powell Construction Company crane and a truck load of steel beams in the picninc area behind stadium this morning.  The foreman said the steel was left over from the TDOT project at I-40 and White Bridge Road.  Bo Wilkerson had requested that the supports to the press box be tripled.  Only half of the steel will be used at Lipscomb.  Mr. Wilkerson had instructed them to head to Dover this afternoon to reinforce the Stewart County pressbox for some activity there next Friday night.  I asked who was paying for all of this and he said the total bill was being paid by someone named "Big Tex".

    825372479

Although the Powell Construction Company was forced to move their equipment out of the picnic area early this afternoon (several members of the Gold Sock Gang raised cane about some tailgate which was supposed to be later this evening) , I've heard that a new construction crew will be available late this afternoon for the improvements. Tex's supervisor Chuck Ross is planning on being there to personally oversee the modifications to the press box, assuming his chauffeur Mr. Temple doesn't have another mental error. Bo doesn't seem to think the project will be completed in time, as I just saw an order go through for one of the MacCadams - signature series deer stands.

Also, just read in the Pony Express that Stewart County's pressbox no longer needs improvement; apparently it was carried away by mosquitos. Lipscomb initially made an offer to have the game moved to the Reese Smith Athletic Complex, but the offer was withdrawn because Jimmy Blare, one of the Lipscomb coaches, had already reserved the field for practicing his Power Ranger skills in preparation for the upcoming tryouts.

  16. Rogers is not a better athlete than sikes. Sike ran a 4.50 at Oklahoma Camp. I know sikes is stronger than him and if you throw it up there he'll come down with it. Sikes put up 216 yards on Riverdale. What has Rogers done lately.

    825337030

Lets see here.. my math skills aren't what they used to be, but I think that a 4.4 is faster than a 4.5. If Lipscomb sat around and threw the ball up to Rogers 1 out of every 3 plays, I guarantee you he'd come home with many more than 216 yards. When Sikes signs with UT, we'll give him his props, but for now, lets leave this thread to the faster Rogers.
