  1. So...you're advocating "if ya ain't got nothing good to say, don't say nothing"?

The most valuable aspect of this forum is that it allows anyone to say anything, which means that you will read thoughtful criticism and mindless criticism, thoughtful praise and mindless praise. To advocate nothing but praise is just as bad as advocating nothing but criticism. As time goes on, the wackos (that spout nothing but mindless praise or criticism) will be marginalized, new ones will rise to take their place, and the rest of us will plug on.

Anyone that takes exception to anything specific that's been said concerning the LCHS football program should address it. Non-specific disagreement doesn't add to the dialogue.

I am fully behind Coach Thompson and his staff! I am also FULLY behind his calls and the players! Coach Thompson is a successful football coach and knows more about football than pretty much everybody on this website. Espically you that bash him. Once again I say if you do not support Lincoln County then, STAY AWAY!!! We do not need you!!! I am sure you were all excited when we beat Riverdale...all was good, everybody was behind LC and everything...then we lose...you would think the world has ended!!! I hate losing as bad as anybody, but when it does happen...I STICK WITH THEM!!!! Lincoln County will be fine without you fickle fans, we will win another championship and when it happens I am sure you will be there yelling and clapping just like you had been a fan all along. Again, I say STAY AWAY. GO FALCONS!!!!!

It is not the coaches fault. The play calling was not a problem! The coaches do not fumble the ball or drop a pass do they??? Nor do the coaches snap the ball over the QB's head. One of Robert Neyland's game maxim's says: The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win. Well...Cookeville won didn't they???

So you're saying the Falcons don't have the talent required?

Yeah, some mistakes were made, but for every mistake you list as being the reason they lost I can show you probably two mistakes the coaches made, and we'll both be benefiting from hindsight...the players made mistakes against Oakland, but the coaching made up for it....coaching didn't make up for the mistakes last night.

  3. The coaches are mainly at fault...last week against Oakland the Patriots came on strong with their passing and rushing game and ran over us, until the coaches made adjustments and we shut them down. If a team doesn't get better as the game progresses, then either the team has no talent (not the case here) or the coaches aren't doing the right things.

Cookeville ran roughshod over the left side of our defensive line all night long. That ain't the players' fault.

The coaches can light a huge fire on the team during weekly practice, but the coaches can NOT play for the team on Friday nights. Yes, the game last night was disappointing for all Falcon fans, but it definitely was not at the fault of the coaches. In my opinion, not only were some bad calls made, but there were also some errors committed by the Falcon football players (not coaches). They are a young team that has massive room for growth.

  4. Oakland was given two of their touchdowns...score should have been 24-7.

Also, I think the coaches did a really good job...the Falcons got better as the game progressed, both on offense and defense. The fumbles gave Oakland those two touchdowns.

Keep it up...I like it like that! :D:D:)

You hit the nail on the head. Franklin Co. wanted it more. Lincoln Co. was flat. Congradulations to Franklin Co. The FC coaches and players did a lot better job getting ready to PLAY.<

hmmmmm what a difference a week makes!wheres all the people that were asking riverdale who? after last weeks game.guess we will hear oh we had to come back on saturday night again like we did the franklin game. well guess what franklin county had the same problem to face but they were motivated and wanted to win.difference in this game? i say it again coaching or should i say lack of it.congrats franklin co good job!

Definitely coaching...I'm sure we'll hear the lame attempt for an excuse that had we finished the game last night we would have won...well, maybe, but getting beat 21-0 in the second half says alot more about the coach's failure to keep the Falcons up.

The team ain't a team all the time...it would be nice if the coach would fix that sometime between now and the end of the season. :D

this is what is wrong with our sports programs in the state. I am sure the coach didn't mean to hurt anyone. The parents of this child need to allow the son to be coached and to know that not everything is going to go his way. I am a junior high football coach and I believe that the reason alot of our children are the way they are is because parents will not allow there children to handle controversy on their own. Parents always wants to blame someone else for their childs mistake please you people in that county let this rest cause it is setting a bad precedent for the kids of that county

Are you saying that it was ok for him to throw a helmet because he was mad? This is a case of a grown man acting like a child. All the kid did was get hit in the head and get stiches, because his coach was mad! This situation is not setting a bad precident for the kids, it's setting a bad precident for the coach. Its just a very unfourtunate situation that should never have happened. I mean, if he just had to throw a helmet, he could have at least looked where he was throwing it first.

He was not mad, it was a planned act that coaches across the country do from time to time to fire up their team! I guess you would have to have experienced these things to understand! It is like being an actor in a play and someone getting hurt while doing a stunt! It is the same thing! This was not motivated by anger! The best way I can describe it is imagine you are sitting in a class and there is a planned activity that goes wrong. No one planned for the activity to go wrong, it just did and someone got hurt. that is all this was! Coaches are always looking for ways to motivate their teams and this has been an accepted method for many years. Maybe it isn't a great idea, but it is one that many coaches still use! Do coaches, yell at their teams, YES THEY DO! Can it be an effective method, YES IT CAN! Is it the best method, THAT DEPENDS UPON THE TEAM! Football is the closest thing to being in the ARMED SERVICES you can have in high school apart from ROTC. You experience the full gamete in football!

If that coach had shown enough concern for the kid to let the assistants take over in the second half while the coach made sure the kid was taken care of, NONE of this would be happening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who Care's ? It's the weakest region in the state, so does it even deserve a champion ? It's time for Louie to leave.

He seems to have enough worshippers that he could stay a long time, even with mediocre performance every year. LCFalcon5n5, are you hearing alot of grumbling?

  8. You can say whatever you want about the event, but if I was watching my kid play football and he didn't return for the second half and nobody told me anything I would be livid. It seems to me that the coach could have eased this situation by showing enough concern for the kid to leave the team to his assistants for the second half while he made sure the kid was taken care of. It's easy to find reasons to either support the coach or condemn him for throwing the helmet, but by walking away from it he showed EXTREMELY bad judgement.
