  1. Former Hancock County Superstar, Rocky "The Rock" Nichols is going to sign with Maryville College, TN for the upcoming basketball season. He finished his freshman year at a juco school in AL. He set out for one year and worked. But he will lace'm up one more time. He will join Matthew Collins, one of his former high teammates for Hancock County and they hope tomake a run at the DIII Title while under Head Coach Randy Lambert and ASST. Coach Spencer Beaty. He plans on finishing his career at Maryville.

  2. What do they have this season?  Just wondering.  They will have a tough game ahead of them on friday at Cosby.  This is probably one of the best if not the best A rivalry in the state.  GO EAGLES.

Hancock has a PG that likes to take it to the hole, he is very quick and athletic. He also can shoot outside and makes most of his points by steals and getting out in the open floor. Hancock is a small but very quick team. They look to score off of turnovers. Hancock has a all around team they play 10-12 players and all of them are capable of putting points on the board.

  3. What is wrong with Unaka right now I hear they are off to a disturbing start? Only scoring 15 points going late into the 3rd quarter being defeated by a mediocur Pickett County team and turning around the next night and losing to Clay County If im not mistaken. From what I am hearing they are nothing like last years team that won the class A state title.Whats the problem? I know they lost a big crop of talent from last years team but there is not that much talk about this years team as there has been in the past of the rest of the Unaka teams. We all know how hard it is to repeat winning back to back state championships just for the simple fact you have everyone gunning for you every night you step out on the hardwood.

Maybe it is just early in the season Unaka seems to play its best ball once tournament time rolls around they seemed to hit a hot streak last year and just never stopped from that point on.They should roll through there conference easy

because everyone knows region 1 A is not the best region in single A basketball playing teams like Cloudland, University High, North Greene, and Clinch, just dont seem to be the hardest way to advance to play a substate birth so you can count on them playing a substate game the question is can they make it a home game.

Both Rockwood,Cosby, and Oneida, are loaded this year Rockwood returning the very tough guard Elery Harvest.Cosby possibly having a twice as talented team comming back as last years with 6'5 post player Timmy Blakely. The Valentine kid is back as well and there new transfer out of Cocke County Dexter Manning who is supposed to be 10 times a better shooter than standout Kent Black from last year.

Unaka better get things together because once the cakewalk is over in region 1 they will be facing a whole lot better competition in the region 2 area and if it comes to playing Cosby at there place then I have a feeling that Unaka will struggle.Everyone knows how hard it is to get a win over the eagles Unaka barely pulled one out last year hitting a game winning 3 point shot at the buzzard as time expired.Being down 10 in the 4th quarter and coming back to advance to the state.

Im calling this one out right here so all you people can say I told you so Unaka will get upset in the substate against either Rockwood or Cosby.Unaka has nothing like the calibur of team they had last year and no depth coming of the bench.

Yeah that all anyone talks about now these days is how Unaka won Class A state title. I think it was fake because they got lucky with a couple of bad calls at Hancock in the region title game(only won by seven) or they would have been headed to Rockwood and probably would have gotten beat. The only reason why Hancock did not win was because those guy were one for themselves and did not care about the team. As long as they got their points they were happy. So that is enough about the stone creek rangers. That was pure luck that you guys won. You should have not even made it to the state turnm. So enough talk let's see how good you can ball!!!!!!!!! Prove that you earned the title and it was not fake and I will respect ya"ll.

  6. Did anyone see Hancock County's coach this year Clark Powers. This was the largest mistake that Hancock has made in many of years. He never coached these guys all he did was sit on the bench and worry about how bad those guys were making him look. I think Clarkie POO needs to go back and coach a team that needs no coaching cause Hancock had to much talent and to much experience to let it go to waste this year. So congrads. Hancock Boys and Clark Powers for you, go BACK HOME WHERE YOU BELONG. Oh wait a second which of the 40 schools is your home. Go Home Clark, Go home Clark!!!!!!!

  7. number 21 is their go to guy off the bench the kid can really fill it up from long range and the campbell kid can also these two guys are just sophmores and look to be to great player upcoming for the indians as far as the starters they depend on the three point shot their post players are big but all they are there for is rebounds and take up space the two post players don't average probably 4 or 5 points a game. Unaka tried to play a full court press but the great guards of hancock changed that very quickly.

  8. What does everybody think about the region 1a tour. being held at hancock. Also district 2A tour. at hancock. Do you think that if it is your turn to host the region and district that it should be played at your home floor. do you think that is a atvg. or disatvg. for the rest of the schools playing in it.

  9. The hancock girls are 1-3 and the boys are 2-0 not 2-3, the boys have not been beaten. And matt collins had 10pts and10 rebs. the belcher , greene ,and collins trio shut up the cosby eagles. It does matter if kevinhall didnt dress hancock still won.

  10. Hnacock County 2000-2001 season. They had Mike Matthews UT-C, Brad Seal LMU, Rocky Nichols MMI, Aaron Seal Milligian. They finished off the season with a record of 33-2. They were ranked #1 in state for 3 1/2 months. They were beaten in the Tennessee State Tourn. by Aloca. That was the first year that Aloca went single A. The next year they went double A and never made it out of their Dist.

  11. Does anyone think that Hancock will make it back to the state tournment after graduating eight senior. If not how far will they go? What teams do you think will be hard to beat? What will their record be when the season is over? Lets me know your opinion.
