  1. I am sure who ever put the schedule together thought Stone would be a cream puff like they have been in the past.

Stone not necessarily a cream puff. played in district with alcoa cak kingston loudon - made playoffs in 2 of those years - record just not that great. went 5-5 two yrs ago. and had to play fulton in 1st rd.

  2. Until warren co gets rid of defeatist attitude they will never get over hump. - from what i've heard. they fumbled couple of kickoffs in a row, throw pick, punted into def line when they could have pinned them deep and then fumbled in overtime. sounds like to me they do things to beat themselves. part of defeatist attitude is blaming someone else!

  3. The community expects a winner but does not put forth the effort in building a winner. They are all stuck in th 80's and 90's and think Coach Medley is the only person capable of winning at LHS.

It is going to take an entire community effort, including accountability from the administration, staff, youth leagues, middle schools, parents, and the players.

Until Lebanon wakes up and joins the rest of the world in 2012, all the new families who move to Wilson County are going to move into WCHS and MJHS districts. If they choose not to, then they are going to have to rely on talent that only comes around once every 3-5 years. There have been very talented classes in LHS history, the problem is having two or 3 classes combine for a team, or to replace a large graduating class.

Right now there is no reason for a family to move to Lebanon over Mount Juliet, and there has been no reason for talented athletes not to accept scholarship at prestigious private schools. With Friendship going DII, it will be harder to keep kids in the school.

LHS needs a culture changer that is not afraid to go into the community and get support and hold parents and alumni accountable for their program. Right now, the community expects a winner before they are willing to show up and support the team. To me, that is putting the cart before the horse, but it will take a leader to prove to everyone that is what it will take.

And if I ever hear that it "takes a couple years to implement a high school offense" I might throw up. This is high school football. It's not complicated. Get the big guys to stand in the way of the other team's big guys and hand/throw the ball to the fastest kids. How ever they decide to it is up to them, but it's not rocket science and should not be over-complicated by some bogus "system".

I hope the people who make the decisions do their research on the candidates and not just play the name game or not just hire some Cumberland assistant or go after another a Medley disciple. There are talented motivated coaches out there with HC experience that would be willing to do what it takes to build a program, the administration will actually search for that person. Making another lazy hire will only set the program back farther than the previous hire did.

    Good Luck. Go Blue Devils.

but they do have to have big guys or especially fast guys. No X's or O's work without Jimmy's and Joes
  4. Children, children, let's try to limit the name calling. I think Polk's passing game is somewhere between smok's and PCP's evaluation. To smok's point though, I as a Polk fan, have often said if I was coaching against Polk I would make them beat me with a pass. Now, Sequoyah knew Polk was going to run since the QB was hobbled during the 2nd half, but Miller still couldn't be stopped (props to the O-Line)

On a side note, It speaks volumes to Polk's success when the only way folks can try to insult them is to say they never make it out of the 2nd round.

I'm with you -- wouldn't alot of people like to be one of the last 16 in their class every year!!!
  5. Am I reading tssaa site correctly that proposed districts will be put out soon on website. realize this isn't final but what is being proposed to board. I know that on fifteenth is when board will finalize districts - but is says on 25th staff will prepare proposed disctricts and will be sent to board and then to schools and put on site.

  6. I would think they would want to be with la and york with whom they have a long stsnding rivalry in basketball. Staying in the central time zone makes travel a lot easier for the other sports too.

why do you assume cumb. co would go west. really doesn't matter where you request tssaa does what they want to. Stone requested to go west 4 yrs ago with york livingston etc because of time zone and look where they are. If they move up and you move down what makes you think you would just not switch districts. Stone currently has 6 teams in the district, they will not move you guys into a district with 7 or 8 teams and leave the other one with 5 if stone moves up. just my take on things.

  7. Will things change there anytime soon. Wasn't too long ago, that they had a solid team.

things will not change anytime soon. been at about 7 yrs since jets been any good. 2 coaches there that were very demanding but people didn't like that. both went to playoffs but still given hard time. one of them coaching at elem. school now and parents are mad cause he makes them work hard and be at prac.

  8. Easy guys. Blueangel51 is actually a former jet who still has ties there. (hence the name Blueangel) you know the jets and they have a Navy Blue Angel plane outside their school. You're right he is a football fan but please don't take him as a stone fan. He's probably right, stone not ready to be in top tier of district just yet, but trying to get better just like everyone else. Look for them to be physical and sound maybe not as athletic as CAK. Cak tries to win the way they think best and stone tries to win the way they think best. Neither is necessarily right or wrong just different philosophies. Good luck to both- play clean and hard and both do what you do best.

  9. They have only had a varsity team for 2 years and haven't fared very well. I don't know what they have coming back. I think their region schedule is Alcoa, kingston, Scott, CAK, and loudon (order?) Thier reg is still pretty tough for them. Them and Scott are the only 2 4A teams, but the 3A people are pretty good. Not sure who they have as non-region other than CCHS. Who are the new coaches and new everything you are talking about.
