  1. I was in the concourse because dunking has nothing to do with playing basketball.  It is indeed spetacular but a regular lay up get the same 2 points.

you know who says something like that?...someone who can't dunk, never could, and will never be able to. I'm sorry you hate the dunk so much, but it can be a huge advantage in a close game in terms of changing the momentum, not to mention that dunks are very entertaining to watch. Please, don't be a hater.

  2. How crazy is it that the top 4 in the AAA decathlon all live right there in the same city? Or at least in the same area. This does cost Houston a few points, probably about 5...getting 13 instead of 18.

Michael Ayers does not live in Memphis and he finished 4th. He's a freshman from Ravenwood (Brentwood), and if he keeps progressing the way he has been, Bingham's record won't last but a few years. Oh, and like Philipa, Lauren, and Molly, he also trains under Gary Kinder.

  3. I just have a couple things to add:

mysteryhurdler, if you are in fact a hurdler, then you should know that there is no jumping involved.

BHSfootball, you should probably learn to spell the word correctly before you start claiming that you are a decathlete (especially since you are calling people idoits and telling them that they need to learn how to spell on other threads).

Its a typo. He totally misused that word in what he wrote.

Don't get on me. What do you mean claim? I am a decathlete. I'm also pretty darn good at my other events. The crap posted in that other thread has nothing to do with this one and I'm done talking about it. Step off.

Nah, it's cool man...I just messing with ya...no worries

  5. i'm not.....that is seriously what he is hoping to jump

I'm not trying to put anyone down here, but a 14'6 vaulter who is hoping to jump 16'-17'!!! within the next month (I'm guessing he's wanting to reach this goal by state) is going crazy and needs to set more realistic goals.

  6. Philipa Davies of Brentwood Academy and Lauren Stewart of Brentwood High are the two best all-around females in the state. Check the marks if you doubt.

...and they attend school only about 1.5 miles apart from each other. Must be something in the air in Brentwood!

It's not in the air...it's in the coach. Gary Kinder, who was an Olympic decathlete in 1988, coaches (along with Philipa's dad, Brad Davies) both of them along many other of the state's top athletes.

  7. Lamarcus Coker from Atioch High is the best all around trackstar buddys no one can compare he runs a 4.29. im sure bingham aint puttin up numbers like dat

Coker is very fast...probably the fastest sprinter in TN (HS), but not even close to Bingham all around. Also, no one on here cares what is 40 time is...a fast 40 doesn't mean anything in track (outdoors).

  8. As much as I love Lamar Thompson at Bradley, I have to vote for Michael Bingham. He is good at everything. Bet he'll be worth more points to McCallie than Bumbi will to his team. Sounds like Bingham's hamstring problem may be ok.

Bingham could possibly score twice as many points as Bumbi.

  9. BGA's surface is very soft which makes it very slow...the same goes for MBA's track. The fastest high school tracks in TN that I've run on are McCallie and GPS. Two great places to jump are FRA (wind, wind, and more wind) and Kenwood (gotta love the ramp-like runway).

Also, I personally didn't like Briarcrest's track, mainly because their runway wasn't long enough for me and because of the puddled water in lane 1. However, the facilities around the track (ei. the "clubhouse") were amazing.

  10. MBA. Probably the nicest track in the state.

    No...way too slow.

They're really aren't any great high school tracks in TN (or pretty much anywhere else) because no one has mondo. If you want to run on a great track in middle TN, go run at the Great Eight.
