I have a 35-70 f2.8 which works well under the basket with my back to the wall.
No flash?

Not trying to sway you either way, but I've read bad things on the internet about Sigma. If you purchase it and something goes wrong (which from what I've read, something will go wrong), be prepared for absolutely no customer service. This is just what I've read more than once.

It's horrible for baseball. No zoom at all. Get the 200 mm prime at f/ 2.8 for $650.
Has anyone used the 85 f/1.8 for baseball? My 70-300 isn't fast enough for night games, but I'm afraid the 85 won't be long enough. Can't afford the 70-200 f/2.8 for a hobby / part-time newspaper and not sure the 2.8 would be fast enough for night games anyway, though the 2 stops improvement would be better than what I have now. -
This has turned into a huge discussion about believers and non-believers of God. I can tell you just about all of the people on Loretto's roster attend church every Sunday, including the coach himself. Any other time, every one of those boys would be in church. It was a personal decision for those who wished to play, and I do respect their decisions, playing or not playing.
I think this thread needs to be locked because no one is going to agree on the topic, and it appears to me some of you are putting down the Loretto community not thinking alot of our players don't go to church or aren't right with God. Thanks for reading!!!

Me too. Notice the keyword "used". lol I've checked into these and brand new it costs at best $1,700.00. That is the best of the best though...

He had successful surgery two days ago, but he's still not out of the woods. Thank you for all the prayers so far from Loretto!

QUOTE(coacht @ Mar 7 2007 - 07:18 AM) 826403176[/snapback]Only sportspix.com can sell photos of the state tournament so visit that site to find photos of the game. We will be adding pics to our regular Photo Gallery, though.
Did not know that.

This is the greatest idea ever, coacht and iamoz! When do you think this will be open and available to the public to add photos?

If Page Loses and Loretto beats Marshall County what is the tie breaker?
that would put loretto either 5 or 6. i don't understand how the tie breaker would work
The teams split in the regular season, so coin flip.

Did you get the camera yet? Saw some pictures of yours in the paper.
Yes, I've taken pictures of 4 games so far, and have started my own small action photo selling service where I just go to the parents and ask them to buy. I sell them for $.50 and at $.22 to get them printed, I'm making enough to print more while giving the girls and boys some laughs. I'm starting to add some photos I've sold in the photo galleries. So far, I'm VERY pleased with the results.
I talked to the guy from playeractionphotos.com and he uses the same exact lens we have coacht . That makes me really feel like we made the right choice because he sells his photos for $4.00 for a 4x6.

Here is what The Times Daily has, which is what the offical score keeper for the game calls in:
Clint Wright scored 13 points and pulled down 14 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to lead Loretto (7-11) past Giles County.
Colin Stout also scored 13, and Zach McDonald followed with 12.

they all turned out very well!

For Sports:
Don't use the sports setting unless you're outside. Put the camera on manual setting, where you can adjust the different settings. Set your ISO to 800, set your aperature as low of a number as it will go, set the white balance to tugsten light, and set the shutter speed to 320. If the court is well lit, go up to 500.
If you're outside, the sports setting will work great.
Hope this helps, and if you have anymore questions, just ask

CoachT - Glad to see you got yours in! I can't wait to get my camera in. I can't wait to see some action shots too! That picture looks great.

I feel he will make a guest appearance later on today.

That's awesome coacht! I know a little bit about how all that works by my camera I have now has all the customizable controls on it, but I have a feeling it will take alot of playing around with it to get the right settings. Maybe we can get together at a ball game and we can both learn.

I ordered the Canon Rebel XTI today with the 85 mm lens. I hope this will be the great camera and lens I've read about.

Loretto won 1 out of 2 games in this tournament. It was a two game and done tourney where each team only played two games. Madison County defeated Loretto while Loretto defeated Columbia, Alabama. Don't have scores, sorry. By the way, the Madison County player is 7'0'' and is a transfer student from Africa.

This lens looks very good, however is the zoom good, and does it maintain enough f/ to get the picturewhen zoomed in at its maximum?
