  1. Its good that he is quitting.....how can you like him? Watch the program get better starting next year.
  2. Many of us last year took alot of abuse for trying to disclose Sequatchie Coach Bartley for the unqualified role model he has been over the years. Well word is that this will be his last year at this fine school and I for one am rejoicing. Let me clarify that I have no ties to Sequatchie County...not an ex-player.....no kids in the program........I just like touring the state and watching good baseball. To see Coach (?) Bartley yelling and cursing at his team year in and year out.......to see Coach (?) Bartley turn sure wins into losses with questionable decision making....to see Coach Bartley manerisms even off the field...............well, MANY, MANY parents, players and fans of yesterday and today are in celebration over the news. I don't know if the Sequatchie County principal woke up from the coma or if divine intervention took place, but this action will benefit the school and the athletic program.
  3. still looking for help....thanks in advance
  4. I see that a tournament is on Eastridge's schedule at the end of the year......Dave Pocius Invitational. Maybe someone here can tell me who besides Eastridge is in this tournament. I think this tornament is a great idea to lead teams into the playoffs. Given Eastridge's coach, maybe some Florida teams will come up and get crushed. Who is Dave Pocius anyway? sounds like someone with a physical handicap.
  5. Al Haas - Cleveland Doesn't throw that hard anymore....had a problem with his shoulder...but knows the game very well and most importantly knows how to get batters out. Bill Chambers - La Follette Watching him pitch, you would say "How does he get anybody out?" But his stuff is effective and seems to irritate his opponents. Drawback is that his mind seems to wander at times. George Boone - Gallatin Senior pitchers who probably knows his opponent better than any young pitcher I have ever seen. Scouts constantly....PICTURE this, your next pitcher in the stands, scouting how to get you out. By the way, his curve ball maybe the best in the state. Fran Pappasadro - Ripley They call him the "Brink's Truck" because he is a money pitcher. When the pressure is on, he's a bulldog. COVERS his position well...good fielding pitcher. There are other very good high school pitchers in the state. In travelling the state, these 4 stood out.
  6. In response to the gentleman from Hixson, we seem to have a difference of opinion on Mr. Coffman's abilities which is fine. We saw two different situations last year. I saw a team that was happy to lose, that had no heart. I loved to say Eastridge was a fundamentally sound and a discipline team but my nose would grow. Let me say once again that I have no connection to Eastridge...no son on the team.....not a disgruntled former player....I say what I see whether its positive or negative. As far as being too negative, I don't think I am.....why would I? What had to happen took place for the good of all of Eastridge, including the kids and the parents. I don't know the new coach but I would wager that his team will work hard and like you said before...be disciplined and know that the pitcher should cover first on a ground ball to the right side! The answer to your question about my problem with Hixson is that I have no problems at all. Quite simply, I have run into parents and supporters at the school that are not too happy with was is going on with the baseball program. I don't think its fair to the coach or anybody else to take this any farther. In response to the owl, who doesn't see in the day or night, I had no problem with you......UNTIL NOW. I didn't start anything, remember that. I don't know if your a 12 year old little leaguer or 70 year old retiree, but I guarantee, I have seen more and know more about quality baseball than you. Without knowing anything about the new Eastridge coach and his personal life, how can you make a judgement statement that he made a bad decision to come to Eastridge. Hixson fan, I'd like to be more positive but an owl keeps poking me, you know where. [Edited by 23sMom on 12-9-02 6:35P]
  7. For all those out there that think Coach Coffman got a raw deal, would you like him to coach your son's baseball team? Honestly answer this and I think this discussion about his qualification as a baseball coach will be over. I have no connection to Eastridge, I just enjoy high school baseball. From what I saw last year, Coffman didn't turn anything around except maybe his breakfast waffle. Eastridge was no threat to beat any decent team because of its preparation and attitude. Again I give the principal credit for making a change instead of toiling another year with an unsatisfactory condition. Maybe all those
  8. Bush league, I gave you the answer to your question days ago......maybe your too stupid to comprehend, so I will reiterate. Is it possible that a family just wants to relocate? Bushy, do you feel Chattanooga is such an awful place to live? Whether Eastridge wins 4 or 24 games this year, lets give the principal credit for wanting to change a LOSING program. I have watched Eastridge play for the last 4-5 years and one thing was consistent......the players LOSING attitude. Coffman didn't change this. If it was a close game, Eastridge was going to lose....not only that but the players would be smiling after the game.......this is a LOSING attitude that the Principal wants changed. Can't blame her, why continue on this way?
  9. I'm an impartial observer, who just likes good high school baseball, but it seems to me that alot of people (current players probably) out there are a little worried about what East Ridge might do this year. They been beaten to a pulp for so long, what happens this year if they upset you? How would you feel and would it ruin your season? I'm saying that my research points to an improved East Ridge team which certainly has alot less problems than say Hixson has. As far as Coach Craig trading Central Forida for Chattanooga, don't sell this area short for quality of living. Ever been to Central Florida? After taking off your Mickey Mouse hat, its not all that great, except for the sport of jai alai.
  10. Yes, Bolivar is a little town in West Tenn. Haven't been there in a long time. Regarding one Teddy Craig, East Ridge's new coach, I have done plenty of research on him. I feel like a private investigator. Coach Craig comes from Central Florida where he had a very successful program in a very competitive region. He is young and has a college playing background. I must admit, he is the main reason that I predict good things for East Ridge. Everyone on this board must come to the conclusion that East Ridge really has no history in baseball. The main cause: no leader, NO COACHING. If you saw one East Ridge game last year, you know that Coach Craig is replacing an idiot. Its a good situation for him.....all in all look how many games East Ridge won last year and you know this year they will be better coached. I've investigated the Hixson situation and see negative things inside that program so my prediction: East Ridge over Hixson. Is that a big surprise?
  11. I see East Ridge as the surprise team and Hixson as the major disapointment. Hixson too big for their overalls, gets knocked down a peg or two this year.
  12. I'll take the Eastridge Pioneers at 100:1 this year. New atmosphere at Eastridge...all losers have left the school. Some may end up at Hixson.
  13. I've been calling around and touring the state and I haven't found many schools where the enthusiasm is higher than at Eastridge. I know they been a cupcake for years but I really think this year might be different. I wouldn't count them as an easy win on the schedule. Now if they could only get somebody to use the lawnmower correctly and maybe add a clubhouse to that little-league type field they have.
