  1. It's all about the rivalry.  If Clarksville has a rivalry with Bradley Central, and they want to cheer when a Bradley Central wrestler loses,... . Gentlemen, the kitchen has just become a little hotter for the next Clarksville wrestler on the mat.  And, that's okay.

I'm guessing it is only the Clarksville people who cheer when an opponent of Bradley wins. From what I saw over the weekend, Clarksville cheered for Dickson, Rossview, Franklin, and many other schools who were close by their region. Seems like Bradley did the same for Cleveland. What is wrong with that? When you wrestle someone all season long there is nothing wrong to see good come to them as they win a match. True, middle Tennessee might not be a wrestling "dynasty", but they sure do help keep competition alive. Where would East Tennessee be without the rest of the state? If the people in Middle Tennessee choose to support each other, then so be it. Stop being so sensitive. It just makes you more determined to get out there and rub it in the face of those who cheer for your opponent. So, get over it.

  2. Well, I guess I can only speak for myself when it comes to the possibility of why Clarksville, or any other team, might want to cheer against Bradley instead of for them. Maybe you are correct when you talk about jealousy or dislike or whatever other word you use when you talk about Clarksville or any other team being for the opponents of Bradley. I think that it is fun every now and then for other teams to win. Keep in mind, THIS IS MY OPINION. It isn't much fun anymore when the same team wins time after time. It is fun when there is competition. I am saying that Bradley is an awesome team but I am also saying that competition is fun, if it is real competition. It is never fun to go somewhere and totally dominate a team so when you get super good teams like Bradley it is fun to help support the other team. Maybe it's because they don't have the crowd following that Bradley has (although it looked like Franklin had quite a few folks there.) It is fun for the other teams when rival schools help them in cheering. Maybe CHS supported Franklin because if they couldn't beat Bradley they were glad to cheer for someone who could. It is the nature of the beast, so to say, to want the top dog to fall. So, IN MY OPINION, if the champ for many years running had been Franklin, I would venture to say that the folks of CHS would be throwing their support behind any other team to beat Franklin. That is what I think. It is amazing though how things affect our perspective of situations. I sat at matside for matches of several different teams and listened to the people around me. There was a school (I would prefer to not mention the name of the school because it is not my intention to start something with them) who when their wrestler was pushing the opponent backwards out of the ring they shouted that the opponent was fleeing the mat. Then, when their guy was backiing out of the ring they yelled that the opponent was pushing their guy out of the ring. It is just amazing, isn't it how our perspective colors everything. B)

  3. I cannot imagine anyone in their right mind who would pass on a chance to wrestle at a State Duals match! I'm thinking if that person was a great and/or wonderful as he thinks he is then the college coaches would have been all over his butt by now. As a coach, it would be either that you wrestle duals or you don't wrestle at all. Even though this is also an individual sport, at this time, it is a team sport!

  4. Well, here we go again. I'm just waiting around to see who will wrestle who and when. Also can't wait to hear the whining that will go on when people think their team should have been in the top/bottom bracket with some other team than the one they were paired with. It will definitely be interesting!

  5. a few years ago my coach told our team, " walk quietly, but always carry a big stick" something along the lines of that

No offense, but ur coach just took teddy roosevelt's quote from a hundred years ago.  i always think it's funny when ppl come up with quotes that are actually straight outta a history book

I am pretty sure the coach wasn't claiming that quote as his own. Get real! I'm pretty sure also that no one else here in their right mind interpreted it that way, either.

  6. Region 7 duals will be at Mt. Juliet and individuals at Creekwood.

Duals will feature Clarksville, Rossview, Hendersonville, and Mt Juliet.

WOW! It is kinda sad to not see Kenwood there at the Regionals. It is a shock to me. I hope their coach being out sick most of the season had nothing to do with them not being at regionals. But, to give Rossview credit, they certainly have vastly improved over the previous years. Good luck to them!

  7. So, so sad that a girl considers it to be an okay thing to charge rape against someone for her own loose morals. We are talking about a young man's life, HIS LIFE, as opposed to her maybe getting in trouble for drinking and having sex. By the way, would she have even been in trouble of any kind if she hadn't opened her mouth ? This really, really aggravates me! I think for her falsehood she should suffer in some way - payback of attorney's fees, payback of bail money; and maybe even community service such as speaking at school about how/why it is wrong to charge someone falsely with rape!

  8. Sure, Rossview was pretty decent last year, but come one now! Do you really think that they stand a chance against Kenwood who locks & reloads every year? Or against Clarksville High, all in the same region? I really don't see that happening - not this year, or even in the next. Not to say that crap doesn't happen, but, I just really don't see it happening. I would speculate that you started this thread just to get stuff stirred up. Oh well.

  9. The 103 from Northwest that didn't make weight at the state tournament (.1 pounds) should be tough at 171 this year.  His coaches said he put a little weight on, but time in the gym could pay off.

Seriously, from NW guys to watch:

OK, You ARE joking, right? WOW! If that was true, wonder what that would do to the hydration test thing we got going on now? Do you reckon he could drop back down?

  10. OK, not to sound like a smarty or anything, but how on earth would be know? I mean, they are FRESHMEN! Other than something they might have done in middle school or AAU or something like that, how would we know? I think in a few months once kids come off of football and get into wrestling we will all have a pretty good idea of who the freshmen are. Right now since they are freshmen the coaches might not be 100% on who and how many freshmen will be coming out. We could, however, talk about returning wrestlers. How about that? thumb

  11. I would also say they have a little bit of ego. But, as some would say, I guess that goes with the territory. B)

They got Pat Simpson at head coach, Whit Dunning one of the best wrestlers in the nation, and the tradidtion of victory. What do yal think?
