Yes , Tony is a great coach and does deserve a head coaching job. It's true we don't know him as well as you guys do. We are just kinda funny at Powell , we like our own boy's. Thats not to say someone else would'nt do a good job. I would much rather Tony have the job than Hardegree but to tell ya truth I didn't think he was ever in the real running. I don't think that they just hiring Hardegree to hope he moves on and let Matt have it when he's more qualified. The principle has her bases covered, she's gonna hire the guy thats been a head coach thats ran a good clean program. It's less of a gamble for her and believe me there is outside pressure. HTV , go ahead and jump in , it's ok. Speak you're peace . You are being way to quite. Don't you agree that the job is Hardegree's ? Come on , get off the fence !!!!!!! We always count on you . We were hoping to know by Thursday, that could still happen. I'm afraid things don't look good for the "LOWE'' fans. There is no question that Hardegree will do a good job and we all wish him the best. He is qualified. My concern with him is 1. He's a west Tn. guy and after his son has left U.T. what will he want to do then ? 2. In 3 years if things are not going well will he head back west leaving us to do this again ? How commited is he to building a program so far away from his real home. It's hard to ride out the storm if there's no roots holding you here and building a good program takes a while. Maybe he'll come in like Jack Henderson did and fit right into the community , shaking hands and kissing babies . I hope thats the case. Matt will get his chance , if not this time maybe next . I'm still pulling for him . Anything could happen but I'll really be suprised now if he gets it. The signs are just not there. "THE HILL" has a lot of pull around Tennessee. Anyway. It's the 12th hour. We shall see.

Dear Denise It took a little longer than I expected to find out EXACTLY who you were. I hope Karen is doing well, I miss seeing her around. I was disappointed to say the least that you were the one bashing Matt. I don't think any of the Lowe's would bash Kelly. By the way is he still coaching ? I hope he's doing well also. As I was growing up in Powell the "robpride and Mr. Butch" that I knew, taught me a lot. Taught me that WORK was a true "FOUR" letter word. What happened to my childhood heroes ? Have they finally grown up ? Is there really not a "NEVERLAND". OMG. Come on Robbie, HTV will take good care of you , go with him. Take Butch with you guys . AAAAAHHHHHHHH, I thought that was you. Heard any true stories on Jimmy Ogle recently ? Daryl said he still heard from ya from time to time. I left you a message before your big Maryville game last year. Hope Beth's doing well. I had'nt been on here in about a year then I got back on to see how things were going at Powell. Guess you know I'm pulling for Matt hard. I heard they were down to three and all of them are pretty good. G.Q. withdrew his name from Valdosta so it looks like there's no relief in sight for us over in Blount county. Are you coming back to Knoxville ? I'm thinking of a different shade of red "beep-beep" can you believe it . LOL.

HTV , YOU SUPRISED ME ON THIS ONE . I didn't think even you would know about it. Matt is very worried and I don't blame him . Don't give any hints at all. Remember what community the A.D. is from . He's confided in a few old friends. I know you feel as I do and I don't want this to get out.Stop by the office and see me sometime.

I was told you were Gary Sheppard's son. You were cracking on me. To me this would be a lot easier if everyone used their own names. Seemed you wanted to take sides with that little moron but if you were not and you were just messing thats ok. I'm sorry. Everyone that knows me knows I'm a baby when someone does not agree with me. You really didn't get in on it much but my feathers were ruffled by that little idiot. You and I are ok and if you are Gary's son tell him I said "hey".

As far as Traditions go in super midgets in the early 80's Farragut had some good teams. Middle 80's thru 94 or 5 Powell had the best teams but Central ran a close second. "Joel gets mad when I say that" but in all fairness we had outside influence. Halls had some good ones every now and again but only when Big Tom Burnette was coaching. Tom Burnette was the best Middle School coach I've ever seen. Skip Nichols at Central was the second best coach. In the late 90's John Paul at Central was about unbeatable until Tom Burnette got back into it. 1.POWELL 2.CENTRAL 3.HALLS 4.FARRAGUT I KNOW THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF GOOD TEAMS. Just year in and year out thats MY picks.

Phil I don't know if he applied or not. He's a Halls boy and I know at one time he wanted to get back in the Knoxville area. Someone said he'd been in Lousiana but I think that was years ago. I know he applied for the Lenoir City job at one time. He asked about being an assistant at Central but that was somewhere around 99. He's a very nice guy but I guess we will have to ask HTV if he applied.

I 'll give everyone a rest on Matt Lowe. I'll leave it as we do disagree. On the super midget program , I don't know how they did this year. I do know that in the past couple of years they have dropped out of the Knoxville league. I thought that was a bad mistake. Playing Claxton and Jacksboro and teams like that will not get the kids ready to play in this region. I know they still play a few of the local teams but it's not the same. The super midgets do not go to football camp anymore . That hurts. All the things that were done years ago to build that super midget program seem to have fell by the wayside. The feeder program is one of the most important things you have to deal with as a high school coach. When the feeder program slacks the high school will feel the effects. When the feeder program is very successful the high school will feel the effects. Powell High HAS dropped the ball on their feeder program. I know that problem is being addressed. I don't know the super midget coach , dont even know his name. I hope he's not a dad just making sure his kid gets to play. I'd really like to see that program be successful.

I have kinda lost touch with him. I don't see Gary or Ellie much anymore. I'm sure anyone that goes to Callahan Road Baptist can tell you.
