  1. I agree, however, there is nothing that players can do when it comes to the coaches and how much time they put in it. And again, I want to make it clear that most coaches at South Fulton go above and beyond their call of duty. But, as a player, complaining about what the coaches are doing is nothing but a cyclical argument that will never be resolved. I was simply saying that as a player, if you don't like what the coach is doing, bust your butt and make it obvious that things should be different. Develop yourself so no fingers can be pointed at you. It is a nasty situation and if you don't pull positive out of it, then you'll never be better
  2. I am in school at MTSU and plan on graduating next December with a political science & psychology degree, unless I do a few internships, one in D.C. and one in Nashville. After that I'm headed off to law school. I will be back in town this weekend. I'm not real sure who you are?
  3. I graduated from South Fulton and was fortunate enough to play on some pretty talented teams. Here is my assessment and I'll carefully word this in order to keep it respectable. South Fulton, especially before the reclassification, had an unusual amount of talent for a small single A school. This goes for football, basketball, and baseball. And not unlike other small schools, there was no way to field a team that is loaded with talent from top to bottom year in and year out. Because of that, a coach should have a game plan that capitalizes on his team's strengths and does not expose their weaknesses. In the aforementioned sports, especially football and basketball, South Fulton has used the same schemes and plays for as long as I can remember. Football, sweep, kick, scissors, belly pass, fullback dive, double pass. If it is a big game, there will most likely be a reverse ran on a kick-off return. Basketball, although this is not a basketball board, was a simple motion offense against a man defense and a 2 man motion offense with baseline roller to combat a zone. No South Fulton Head Coach stresses the importance of weight training and conditioning, especially in the off season, with the exception of small spurts of circuit training for a period during school. South Fulton athletics has long ridden the coattails of superior talent to achieve their success. If I am not mistaken, Coach Wood has a losing record for his career. I will not get in the whole basketball debacle. Am I a player who had bad experiences with the coaches? Far from it. I personally have no qualms stemming from sports when it comes to either man. That is just my view on things from both inside and outside the locker room. I wish South Fulton sports the best of luck. To the players who read this, get hungry and remember the taste in your mouth. If losing like this doesn't bother you, quit. If it does, don't blame anyone but yourself. If coach doesn't make you lift, do it on your own. If you mess up in film and you see it, work on it on your on. Just because the coaches aren't around doesn't mean you can't practice and make yourself better. Players lace up for practice and game days. Athletes stay laced up and don't confine themselves to only team practices to get better. It’s a long road, ride it out. Take your hits, get up, and line back up and do it again. You will never win unless you want to, and a lot of your attitudes and work ethics are sickening to many former players. If this offends you, chances are I'm talking to you. Again, lace them up and get better. I promise you that there is nothing better than raising a trophy, knowing you did it yourself and the work paid off.
  4. I posted this in another thread about Obion County. It fits a little better in this thread however: In starting, I have no personal interest concerning Obion County Central. It is not my intention to run the program into the dirt nor is it to chastise the administration, however, the politics that is the Obion County system is absolutely absurd and its pinnacle is in Troy. It has turned into a death trap for coaches and the political atmosphere that exist has taken a precedence over winning basketball games. This does not condone a 'win at all cost' attitude, however, where is the coach's backing? From Coach Shanks, to Coach Whitby, to whoever else one may name, why to me anyway, does it seem they are almost victims of a system? Seemingly, for whatever reason, a coach at OCCHS is destined to fail, even if he wins ball games and does it the correct way. At Central it seems coaches and referees are blamed for losing and players are praised for winning. The accusations are inexcusable, however, in my opinion, there was no malicious intent. Basketball is a sport, and a fairly rough sport. In my four years of high school ball I broke 3 bones and had a few concussions, all but one injury was suffered at practice. Charge drills, diving on the ball drills, and low-post contact drills are fun. Things happen, and its a shame that the sensitive society throughout America has finally made its way to all of Obion County.
  5. I think that Jones, assuming that he is cleared from all charges, should countersue. Defamation of character or slander could be a pressed issue. I think the only way to stop all of this is to get an administration (concerning botht the school and county) with a strong enough back bone to stand up to some of these parents and special intrest groups who meet wherever or whenever to discuss Jimmy's playing time and mood swings as of late. I hope that if Jones is reinstated, that he will not give anyone person in Troy the satisfaction of him leaving.

  7. congratulations to both teams on a great year- now, i would like to hear some J.B. opinions about union city. and yes, i know thanksgiving is over and most people are still full from left overs and all of that, but anybody have room left to eat some words?
  8. Maybe the weather will call for lots of snow, possibly allowing the TSSAA to postpone the game so J.B.'s mystical season may continue a little longer.
  9. However, I was not calling you ignorant, only accusing your post to be.
  10. Sorry, some people may assume your grammer mixed in with your spelling could be directly proportional to your knowledge.
  11. Yea buddy, take a walk through Union City's halls and then ask yourself is it a private school. In case radio happend to be out over that way, a little while ago there was this idea of reclassification. That is what lead Union City to drop down to single A, and McKenzie and a few others. NEWSFLASH...haha- no, Union City nor I nor anybody else is trying to scare anyone- I have seen JB play, and Union City is atleast a 2 touchdown better team.
  12. That has to be one of the most ignorant posts that I have read. You may be right that no one cares who Union City has played, however, to say that a loss can not help you more than a win is laughable. I would rather lose to a Westview or Milan type team who were both consistently ranked in the top five of 2A than beat up on Halls and Cannon Co. Records do not reflect which team is better. I'm not worried at all about JB. I really feel that they will be completely over matched and the only thing that is going to happen will be gripes about Union City's enrollment and how they should still be in 2A and all of that. Tissues anyone?
  13. I could not agree with you any more about your statement regarding heart and how it wins games, or fails to. Heart may play a role in deciding a close game between two equal opponents. However, to say that heart can completely make up for being out matched is absolutely ridiculous. 99 out of 100 times the team that is bigger, faster, and stronger will win the game, especially at the high school level, and even more at the single A level, where players tend to be more "unpolished." A big heart gets you through practice in the heat, and through an injury during a game. All of these may indirectly affect your success as a player and a team, but as far as heart winning a game by itself, it is not going to happen. However, as far as the gold football looking good next to the basketballs, i dunno about all of that, I'm just glad to see gold back in Obion County. And from experience, it is possibly the greatest feeling one will ever experience. I honestly wish the best for both teams, I just can not see JB beating UC. And if I am wrong, I will be back on here, although I rarely post, to admit it.
  14. You must have forgotten that Union City players don't post on here
