  1. I have taken at least three drug tests in my lifetime ... all for starting jobs... I never felt like my rights were violated. (passed all of them)

Maybe I'm missing something... what's so bad about asking athletes or students to pee in a cup a couple times a year?

Or do you want to wait for one to overdose and then blame the school for not being pro-active?

  2. So your telling me the scholarships go like this for example, Lets say my town has horrible roads & their is little money to fix it. So when the police give a ticket to someone from town thats speeding, they take the money and give to a town thats better instead of using the money to fix the roads?

no... they go something like this... if your basketball coach gets ejected from a game and has to pay a 250 dollar fine, the TSSAA takes that money raised and rewards the kids to the schools that did not have any fines. All your school has to do is follow the rules. It's an incentive program.

  3. What kind of scholarships? I would have to think that the money if used on scholarship would have to go back to school where it came from. If not the scholarships could be used on anyone. I don't see how you could take money from one school & use it on a student from another.

TSSAA takes money from schools fined and awards it to schools that have not been fined through the A.F. Bridges Sportsmanship award...

It's a way of taking from those that do wrong and give back to those that do it right.

  4. I know this game doesn't mean anything as far as the standings but with WC only winning by 2 points the last time they met can Hendersonville upset the kitty-kats? Maybe so with Jenkins out, could be their second loss in a week. What do you think?

What all-star nominees were you talking about? the McDonald's All-Am nominees are just for seniors I believe... Jenkins is a junior.

  5. SO I GUESS THAT SINCE A PARENT SEEN THE "BITE" THAT IT MEANS THAT HE BIT HIM. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:lol::huh::lol::huh: IF YOU ONLY HAVE BITE MARKS FOR THE TOP SET OF TEETH I GUESS THAT IS NOT A BITE IS IT??? DONT GET ON HERE AND SAY STUFF THAT ISNT TRUE OR GET OFF THIS THREAD!!!

Again, if the school had proof in a video tape, it could have appealed to the TSSAA. He wouldn't have wrestled during the weekend likely, but if cleared could wrestle this weekend.

  6. Did the wrestler indicate he was bitten, or did the ref take the mohers word. I hat eit for the young man, that is soemthing that I would doubt any wrestler of his caliber would do. I have been bitten once by a Fulton kid and when it is intentional, it is obvious. I had purple blue and red marks with 4 sets of teeth imprints. refs should be able tot ell the difference. I was not there but it sounds like a tough situation. I do not know if TSSAA overturns those things or not. Keep us posted.

The kid did get bit. I spoke with the trainer that saw the teeth marks. A person in the stands said they saw it happen. Not saying it wasn't accidental, but it did happen.

School can appeal it I believe and if they have evidence that indicates no one was bitten, they should be able to get it overturned. Of course they should have done this early in the week and not as the region tourney seeding is taking place since the kid won't be able to participate.

  7. What happened to Springfield?

Well, they graduated a strong class last year including the bulk of their line, a good linebacker, speedy defensive backfield and a tough running back.

Two of their best defensive players -- including last year's region defensive player of the year -- never made the team for either grades or disciplinary actions.

They lose perhaps their best athlete on the team to a broken ankle.

I think at one point they had a lineman at QB to finish a game.

They have some good athletes that have taken a while to realize the team concept and stink it up for the team when they get nicked up.

They change their offense from wing-T to I-formation.

They lose several assistants and aren't able to fill the staff till later than one would have liked.

Offutt is a good coach. He's an even better person. Remember, Springfield was on probation this year due to the incident with Maplewood. He had to lay the foundation of a disciplinarian that wasn't going to take anything from any player.

Give him some time. I hear his JV team had a pretty good year. Maybe things will get better.

    GOOD LUCK COACH OFFUTT

  8. Didn't Cheatham make the playoffs last year?

And isn't the reason why they went down is because since Sycamore has opened their student population has decreased... which would allow the team to drop down?

Schools just don't drop down because they can't win. If they don't have the kids, they should be allowed to drop down.

  9. Antioch looked very strong in the work day. They've got a huge fullback, speed at wr, good RB and a QB with a good arm.

Blackman's still working on some things... but numbers are down.

Springfield's No. 8 Hudson didn't play. Their QB looked good at times. Still looking for that o-line to gel, but I'm sure they'll find a way. Offutt is doing a fine job this year I think. He's taking care of some business getting team ready for a tough season.

Statman, e-mail me when you get a chance.

  10. I don't know if there are any more of a deserving bunch of girls and coaching staff than this group of girls, Coach Head and the rest of the gang in the dugout.

A lot of people didn't give them a lot of credit, but they took care of business and are bringing home the hardware.

    Good work girls....

  11. Rhodes had 12-13 strike outs...

this game was in 9 innings. the Lady Cats did a great job getting the bat on the ball against probably the best high school softball pitcher in the south. Of course these two teams have played so many time this season they know each other inside and out.

Lipscomb now has to play in the loser's bracket finale to set up a district 8-aa finale!!!

Good win girls... Your making all of Greenbrier and everyone else that's followed this team proud.

Now let's bring it on home.

  12. What's going on with the tournament schedule because of all of the rain... Wouldn't mind heading up to see Greenbrier play if it has to play over the weekend.

    Thanks

  13. CONGRATULATIONS GREENBRIER on an excellent District 8-AA season.

Good luck in the district and don't lose focus because the fun has just begun.

Coach Head and her staff have done an excellent job with this team. Keep up the good work and maybe our paths will cross in the postseason.
