  1. I would rather see D1 vs D2 matches hosted by USA/TN wrestling after the finals have concluded. I understand that some kids may play other sports but I would take the choice out of the hands of the schools to participate and place it in the hands of the kids.
  2. father ryan wrestled most of their matches on the same mat. It is their tournament.

    CBHS INV

Who will be at the CBHS INV this weekend? Last year I stopped by and watched some great wrestling. Will this year be the same?
  4. What will the fomat be for the D2 state duals?
  5. I second this. This has been helpful for the wrestling fans! Thanks [Edited by donnymo on 1-8-03 12:56A]
  6. I think ROBINSON (CBHS) beat MONDELLI (FR RYAN) at the cbhs duals a few weeks ago at 119
  7. Colliville does look good but Houston also has some good kids 145 and 189. Westside's boys (140, 189 and 215) looked good, too! all three teams (Houston, Coll and WS) have big holes making this regoin a BIG toss up. [Edited by donnymo on 1-5-03 12:16A]
  8. the 171 final at Father ryan was great. it will be a great final at state.
  9. Davis did look good this weekend. He must have decided to get into shape this year. He was very physical and intimidating to his opponents. He will do well if he stays in shape. I would like to see him wrestle Greenwood. I was very impressed with Greenwood's recovery this weekend. He lost to the Houston kid and was on his back against the CBHS kid. He fought back very well. I hope Ryan sees Westside again. Quick note Good looked good, also. D2 state will be a good one to watch.
  10. Greenwood is a good wrestler but he slows down his matches and waits for mistakes. He is not like the other Ryan kids who take it to you. The kid from MBA will catch him, when he is in shape.
  11. I agree, the Ryan kid is tough! So is the westside kid.

    Why?

The first point to make is West TN does have good coaches. Both with considerable experience beyond high school wrestling and others who are very good coaches with little or no wrestling experience. West TN also has some very talented kids. If you have seen the top teams in both DI and DII they are solid from top to bottom. Memphis is not at that point in its history. The teams in West TN are struggling to be good in the Memphis area. When they leave West TN they face teams with great traditions. Second point--Most importantly West TN is still very developmental. There has been one major wrestling club in West TN, which is MIDSOUTH Wrestling. It has tried very hard to provide the area with off season options. It has been my experience with this program that the area coaches are working together to improve the state of wrestling in the west. Bradley, Holmes, Cottrell, Marable and some of the CBHS coaches to name a few. WEST TN coaches know that they can have kids become champs despite a lack of team success. If you look at West TN's history there have been schools that have done very well having a few solid wrestlers. This is not the case, anymore. Our coaches here in West TN are trying to develop their programs. The way it should be done by developing individuals to be successful. Third point-- To build a successful program you have to take very small steps. You can not compete with a sprinter when you are still trying to walk. Give these guys in West TN some time. CHEER ON THE KIDS! There is a great opportunity for a West TN wrestler to bring his team some success. Good luck WEST TN!
  13. I agree CBHS should do well in WEST TN. Coach Marable has done a great job with the program.
