  1. I am sorry for the things I said. I was just having a little fun. Coach Masters has yelled at me for this and has informed me that I will be in pushup position for an hour everyday at practice for a week. I am really sorry. I will never post again.

  2. Thanks.  Steve always looks for ways to do better, always has... and yes, after the dust settled he was fine.  I just know how he was doing on Friday morning 2/14/04.  Save this post....  We'll see how things shake out at the Cleveland duals and then in February.

Good luck guys and I really mean that.  You'll be fine, and yes, better than "most" around the state.

    Dave

Note:  Franklins finalists?  May I suggest... 119, 135, 140, 145, 160, & 189 (maybe 152).  They will also have another 3-4 medalists.  This will rival any point total on the books if they get five golds and things go well in the consolations.  We'll see?

Excuse me Mr. Sommers, but I have afew questions....

    1. Do you have a job or are you independently wealthy? If the latter, that would explain why you spend all of your time on this board.

    2. Why are you so eager to kiss Franklin's a#%? I thought you were from Smyrna.

    3. You need to shut up because your remarks on here are really getting stupider by the post.

    Amen!

  3. We get absolutely no help from the school board or our school.  Everything we do we have to pay for.  I think it is interesting that some coaches on here are saying that they lost their supplements for assistant coaches.  We have never had that and the supplement that is offered to head coaches is roughly 1/5th the supplement that a head football coach gets.  We are also required to pay for mileage(.10 a mile) and gasoline in our buses.  (Yes, I even went and got my CDL license for driving the bus myself to save the team money).  We have to run several fund raisers a year (around 5 or 6) just to make enough money for travel and state.  We have to make our wrestlers buy their own sweat shirts, t-shirts and warm-ups because we just don't have enough money.  However, I will never let a kid not wrestle because they don't have money.  I allow them to make payments or even work it off.  I usually drop $500-$700 of my own money into the account every year to make sure we break even at the end of the year.  It is hard, but if it wasn't, it wouldn't be worth it.  I think the important thing we need to ask ourselves is...what are we doing this for?  If it's for our wrestlers, then we will do everything we can to make it possible for any kid who wants to wrestle to do so.

We are starting our own tournament this year just to help raise money.  And no, the rumor is not true that we are starting our own tournament to avoid the Father Ryan tourney.  There are very few weekends available to run one, and that weekend seemed to be open except for the Ryan tourney.

To all the coaches who make it possible for anyone to wrestle, hats off to you.

"Coach" Do you need a towel to wipe those tears from whining and crying all the time or do you have one built into all of you shirts? Always whining. The dime a dozen Bulldogs. And yes, you did pick the Ryan weekend as a good excuse to keep your dime a dozen "wrestlers" from getting smoked and sent home to their mama's whining and crying like their coach always does. And while you're at it, why do'nt you take up some space on this board to pat yourself on the back for all you do.

  4. "Yeild or be broken." HA HA. Like I said, Dime - A - Dozen. What a convenient way to not come to the Ryan Invitational. Schedule your own "tournament." What a crock. Any team worth a dime will be at Ryan where the competition is. "Yeild or be broken." Please!!

  5. I am worried about Coach Gonyea. He never seems to be happy. If it is not the location of the state duals it is how many teams from each region get to go. If not that it is how many teams are in his Region. If not that it is about where the state tournament is held every year. Does anyone see a pattern here? We need to keep an eye on him. I do not want to see him go off the deep end because of some depression related illness.

  6. Sounds like the weekest tournament in history! Hopkinsville will not be there. They are having their own tournament. If Collierville is really going to that tournament then they are wasting a weekend. They will get no better wrestling those schools.

  7. But gentlemen I've got news for some of you Cookeville has another up-in-coming female that will possible be the state champion for both male and female her freshman year.

Obeyriver...What are you smokin? It must be strong if you think some girl from Cookeville is going to beat boys to win a state title. Make sure you don't share any of that stuff with your daughter. She'll be thinkin she can win the Men's pro boxing title.

  8. I think there is a difference between a kid have a normal anger outburst and Scooter kicking a scoreboard onto fans and then starting a scene straight out of COPS by making security chase him all over the stadium. That kid has a pattern of outbursts that have gotten worse over the years leading up to last year's incident. I say that if he even slips up a little bit any time this season, he should not be allowed to wrestle in TSSAA sanctioned events. I shouldn't have to worry about my safety everytime I go to a meet and sit near a collapsable scoreboard.

I do not agree with Scooter's actions, but I can feel his frustration. It was a bad call and it cost him a shot at his first state title. He was called for the exact same thing in 2002 by the exact same ref. I do believe the call was legit in 2002, but it was not even close to a slam in 2003. I can see where he would feel like he had been cheated. Same call, same ref. You would probably feel as though someone was out to make sure you did not win the gold. best of the west...you go work your tail off for years so that you can have a shot at the title and then let someone just snatch it all away in a single second. I believe that you would be a little frustrated also.

  9. They can't name them. The score was 6-1 and if they wrestled again today Kyle would win 10-1 if Cordell would actually wrestle. I have watched Cordell for 3 years now and he is a staller. He can not wrestle on his feet. That is why he is no longer in Kyle's league. Cordell has Logsdon in his corner so he gets the benefit of the doubt in Chattanooga and does not get called for stalling. He stalls more than any state champion I have ever seen, and he will continue to do it until someone breaks him of that habit. I guess if you can get away with it, then why not do it. It is just a testament of how good Kyle really is. It is one thing to beat a good wrestler, but you have to be awesome to beat a good staller.
