  1. no way it will be by 3 td's! this team is totally different from the team that started the year.

I'm not real big in making predictions but I will on this one. If McKenzie comes out and plays like they did against TCA on offense and defense and keep the Mustangs contained, then I believe the Rebels won't have a problem beating Huntingdon - it's not like Huntingdon is going to surprise the Rebels with some never before seen offensive scheme; real question is, can the Mustangs stop McKenzie? They haven't been able to do it the last 4 years, so we'll have to wait and see what happens.

  2. I find it much more likely that with the defeat of Riverside by Dresden, McKenzie will remain in Quadrant 4 as the #1 seed. Because Dresden beat Riverside and McKenzie beat Dresden, Riverside shouldn't be seeded above McKenzie. I believe that when it's all said and done, if it comes down to it, which I'm sure it will, McKenzie would probably win the tie-breaker, if things go as they should.

With that said, if McKenzie does in fact win a tie-breaker with Riverside to be the #1 seed, I believe it would be highly unfair of TSSAA to place McKenzie in with Trousdale as a lower seed when it ought be Riverside.

  3. Check the new Quads that came out today looks like the Dreden Riverside game helps keep the the Rebels at home.

Yep! It would be nice if the quadrants basically remained that way, too. If I'm not mistaken, Quad 3 and Quad 4 finalists will meet in the Semis, though I really don't want to jump the gun, I'm really liking a possible McKenzie/Riverside matchup in the Semi-Final round, assuming we're all able to beat the teams we need to get there.

However, I do think Quad 4 will get a shake up when it comes time for the playoffs because there's apparently 2 Memphis teams that are very likely to make it in that the current projections aren't including.

  4. You dominated the game and you whine about the officiating? PLEASE. McKenzie came in with a great game plan and they executed it to a T. There is no need to complain about the refs. There is nothing wrong with hitting another player hard. McKenzie was penalized for that hit being a head shot. There should have been another of those called on McKenzie to be honest with you.

Don't take away from the fine performance of McKenzie by complaining about the officiating. The officiating did not hurt the Rebels nor did it help TCA.

Good luck in the rest of the season to McKenzie.

To my knowledge, there is no rule against head-to-head contact in high school when making a tackle, making the call a bogus call. Don't confuse this with the head-to-head contact rule when the player is already on the ground which is prohibited, and obviously that didn't happen.

Also, from the game footage I saw, it plainly shows that no real, if any at all, head-to-head contact is made in either tackle.

If I'm wrong, please enlighten me and refer me to where it is in the TSSAA rulebook.

I'm not complaining, well, maybe I am...but there were a few questionable calls and no calls that I saw, especially after rewatching the film. Regardless, at least it wasn't the kind of officiating that costs a team the game.

  5. I think Humboldt's defense had alot to with Mckenzie O. Giving the Vikes a little credit! If i were Mckenzie i would not want Peabody or Humboldt again your got lucky on both times as u did did against WV. Meaning no disrespect against the Rebels or WV or Camden but Camden or WV isn't on the same playing field with Milan or HC!

Rebels fan look back at your schedule you are 13 points from being 3-3. You are not near as good as u think! If the Rebels fans think they could beat Milan or HC you are nuts! U watch what Milan does to WV in the playoffs bombs away. The next time they play 2td'd maybe 3 it is acording to how Mr. Morris feels!

Humboldt is 3-3 because they have played the tougher schedule that's a no brainer like i stated WV and Camden is no Milan or HC! If Humboldt played Camden or WV and played like they suppose to the Vikings would beat either one! I meant no disrespect but Humboldt has played the tougher schedule by far! I am sure alot of people will agree with me on this! Good luck the rest of the year!

I'm not going to get the stuff over what teams are good and what teams are bad or how many points a team has won or lost by. I know who Humboldt has played and I know who McKenzie has played and I know fairly enough about these teams to make a fair judgment that each teams records are reasonably accurate.

McKenzie may not be quite as good as it was last year, but they're good enough to beat the teams they've beaten, otherwise they wouldn't have won.

It don't matter how close you get to the endzone. If your fastest player can't out run the defense, or if your running back can't burst through the line to cross to the goal line, or your receiver can't make the catch in the endzone, or if special teams can't make the field goal, you don't win. That's not luck, that's our defense stepping up and making the play when your offense didn't.

How about giving a little credit to the Rebel D.

To be quite honest, Humboldt and McKenzie are rather equal in their own respects. The game could have easily gone either way and I look forward to the possibility of meeting Humboldt again in the playoffs.

  6. Look at the scores against our competion so far. The Rebels can play some serious D friend. They will bend but, don't break very much at all. It's a ping pong match to compare last years players agains this years replacements but, the big picture is that the Rebels still play DANG good D. Can't say that we have another Oz on the team but, his replacement is none the less someone to be reckoned with if you go his way!!!

Guess I'd suggest that the Viking D worry about how to deal with our O more than worry about our D. They got to stop us to beat us............. Good luck.

AND PLEASE let this be a safe and injury free game this week!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, the Rebels do play good defense. I would dare to say that maybe our defense is as good as it was last year, too...maybe, just maybe...perhaps just a tad bit better than last years defense? That's statistically speaking of course.

In the first 5 ball games last year, McKenzie gave up 1142 yards on defense...and this year, having played the same teams as last year so far...we've given up 1069 yards on defense.

  7. We Don't Want A Dynasty. Have Never Desired One. And I'm Sure We Will Lose To Huntingdon Again. But We're Enjoying Kicking Your Butt Recently. But You See You Thought It Would Be So Funny The Rebels Playing Milan.....You Didn't Say In What Type Of Game. You Said You Wondered If The Rebels Had Ever Played Milan. And Now Your Quandry Has Been Answered. But You Should Be Wondering If Ya Lil Colts Will Beat Mckenzie Or Union City This Season. Cause Here's A News Flash For Ya......Ya Aint As Good As Ya Think Ya Was. And Ya Aint The Leader In Ya Region. Wasn't it Funny How Huntingdon Thought Dropping Down To 1A Was An Easy Ticket To The Championship.....LOL. Union City Put It To Ya Didn't They? Your Players Fighting With Each Other On The Field. What A Bloody Shambles That Was? Have You Gotten Over That Loss Yet? I Think That Stink Will Haunt Ya For Years.

Actually that (stink) was dismissed from the team immediatly, a step mckenzie probably would not have taken with their best running back. some teams regard character as important as winning. character and respect does not exist in mckenzie. yall picked up one of our rejects back in 2004. howd that go. you can have this one if you want him. he would fit right in. as far as getting beat by union city, that is one of the many semifinal games we have lost. how many semi finals has mckenzie been in. as far as dropping down to small ball, no one in huntingdon wanted to. it is more satisfying playing milan a good game and getting beat than to beat mckenzie.

I believe you highly under estimate Coach Comers integrity, and especially that of the entire coaching staff. He won't hesitate to dismiss his top player if they don't show up to workouts, and he certainly won't hesitate to dismiss a player who behaves in a manner that is disrespectful and negative towards the football program, because he's done it before. You have no business spouting your mouth off about McKenzie not having character and respect when you don't have the slightest clue. If you're going to run that mouth about McKenzie, back it up with something.

How many Semi's has McKenzie been in? 5 times in the last 10 years, but it doesn't matter, to be honest.

As for Huntingdon dropping down, nobody forced Huntingdon to drop down. Huntingdon could have easily sent in a request to the TSSAA reuqesting to stay in 2A football.

  8. Well, Well, htown5? It Seems Milan Was As Big A Wash As Your Games With Union City And Us. It Won't Be Long And Greenfield Will Be Talking Smack To Ya....LOL. And You Thought The Idea Of The Rebels Playing Them Was Funny, LOL. Look Who's Laughing Now Loser! :thumb: Huntingdon :thumb: Milan

I love these experts on here that take spring scrimmages serious. Camden has beat Milan in the spring for the last few years every year. Ask them what happens when season gets here. I also love it when a team has 3 or 4 good years and all a sudden think they have a dynasty going on. Evidently Butchie is not a young man cause all his bitterness must come from the many years he has had to watch Huntingdon kick their butts. And yes, if you played Milan in regular season they would kick your butts. But i am proud for Mckenzie cause im sure all the folks over there are not like this guy and after many dissappointing years its good to see the kids have some success. Enjoy it while it last cause you prolly wont live long enough to see the 20 or 30 years it will take to catch up with Milan and Huntingdon. I guess 4 years is a pretty good start. And by the way, anyone that would call Milan a wash is just showing ignorance. Play them in the fall then talk, but doesnt look like that will prolly happen. :thumb:

4 good years? Try 10 years.

Milan would kick our butts? Hmm. Maybe, maybe not. Considering Milan narrowly escaped a defeat by Huntingdon last year, and we shut out Huntingdon, I'd be interested to see what happened in a real game. Too bad we probably won't get to find out for at least one more year.

  9. Wait a minute boys. You HC guys are just a little arrogant, thinking that every coach in the region would like to jump up and move over there. HCHS is a school that is too big to have decent local rivalries, landlocked from the interstate system with an enormous amount of travel time to your games, the proud flagship of a school system that is known for administrative in-fighting and politics of the worst kind, and not exactly a traditional football power year in and year out. I know this is going to make some of you mad, and I apologize for that, but you know it is true. Don't think a coach from Camden, Huntingdon, or McKenzie would jump at getting to move to Paris. Most high school coaches from some of the smaller towns would consider it a lateral move.

So McKenzie & Camden are traditional powers year in and year out? If so that is news to me and every other person in West TN. This might be one the dumbest posts I have ever seen on CoachT and that is saying alot!

Now I wouldn't say McKenzie is a "traditional football power" but for the last 10 years, yeah, McKenzie has been a football power considering their 100-30 record since 2000 under Coach Comer. You might find a handful of teams in West Tennessee that have that kind of record since 2000.

For those 10 years, McKenzie was one of the teams opponents had to seriously contend with if they planned on advancing in playoffs.

  10. Butchie... who is mckenzie's starting qb gonna be next year. is it gonna be between the arnold kid and the kid that moved in from westview???

Max Arnold is our starting running back. He didn't get to play in any of the scrimmages because of an injury.

As for the quarterback position, that's between Zeick Hicks and Luke Robertson, and both of them were looking like they should in the Spring, pretty equal. Only this summer will the coaches be able to decide who they think is ready to play under the Friday night lights.

  11. I left before the scrimmage was over but I was told that McKenzie won against Milan, 5-2. First team won 3-1 and the second team won 2-1.

McKenzie made some good plays, several good pass plays that helped contribute to two touchdowns (that I saw personally) and the running game is looking good, but obviously they've got work to do. Defense did a really good job, too. Despite one busted running play, they kept Milan fairly contained. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens this summer when everybody has recovered from injuries.

  12. Who do you think will be the running backs? Colin Vinson looked good. What about Devin Wagner?

    THE REBEL ROWDY CROWD

Max Arnold will more than likely be the starting running back. Devin Wagner, as far as I know, he's no longer with the team but he might return this summer. However, they've got Colin Vinson, Richie Clark, and Jace Hargrove, all of whom could could see some playing time as the ball carrier in the varsity contests. Just have to wait and see what happens. Long time till HS Kickoff 2010.
