  1. so your saying that Alcoa doesnt recruit? right.... i really believe that one. They recruit, just differently from privates... "Here, pay $2000 dollars and come to our football powerhouse school.."

I'm willing to bet my life that Alcoa's not recruiting. I played on the 15-0 2000 Alcoa team I know for a fact all 40 players were from Blount Co.!! Sure there's kids that transfer in from other schools, but it's not like our coaches are going out and begging those players to come to Alcoa. Alcoa doesn't need to recruit! The talent has always been there we just needed the right coaches. Randall Cobb and Brandon Warren sure weren't recruited and look were they are now! Both will be starting in the SEC this weekend! So save that recruit bull for someone else??

  2. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Goodpasture and DL used to be private or don't they still recruit or pay students?? I'm not sure if they still do, but I know Alcoa owns GP and destroyed DL the last time they played!! and beat Brentwood in 89 for the gold ball!!

  3. If Alcoa and Maryville had $20,000 scholarships to give out then I bet they'd have a lot more gold balls! There wouldn't be a team on the east coast that could touch them!! Alcoa played McCallie in 05 and 06 and won both, so believe me private schools can be beat!!

  4. confidence is a great thing to have. it just stinks when year after year your team never comes through against its cross town rival. you try and enjoy your friday sir, i know ill enjoy mine.

Hope all you alcoa fans enjoy another 14-1 season...if you make it that far

If we make it that far?? I believe Alcoa's schedule favors them more than your Mighty Rebs. Alcoa will make it that far and be the first to 5!! Are the Rebs going to make it???

  5. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> this is me bowing down to you for the most amazing chant ever

You're the first person to ever give me credit for this and I appreciate it. There's something about that chant that got our team focused.

  6. What's up Rebel Ron and Skibo and everybody else!! it's that time of year again and I've got a weird feeling about this one. I don't know why and I'm still trying to figure it out but this one is gonna be closer than the 2000 game. Should come down to a last second field goal with Brodus kicking a 40 yarder to win 24-21! hahahahhaha Just a thought! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  7. " Alcoa are you motivated?

    heck yeah we motivated

    GET EM UP!

    GET EM UP!

    GET EM UP!GET EM UP!

    GET EM UP!GET EM UP!

    GET EM UP!

    GET EM UP!

    GET EM UP!GET EM UP!

    GET EM UP!GET EM UP!

    SHOWTIME!!!!!!!

I don't get enough credit for bringing this tradition to Alcoa! I started this chant back in 2000 and it's still going to this day! I should be getting paid for this!! hahaha! Alcoa must BELIEVE they can win this game! When we beat the Rebs in 2000, we knew we could win the game and there was nothing that could stop us! There was no doubt at all on that team and that's the attitude Alcoa must have on Friday. They must KNOW they can win and hit Maryville in the mouth for 4 quarters!

  8. It's about time you got back on here #5 /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I'm glad to be back. haha, I wasn't gonna say anything on this thread but I couldn't sit here and let Milan talk non sense about their athletes compared to Alcoa's! If Milan makes it to the boro I'm willing to bet Alcoa wins by at least 20!!

  9. LOL! I've said time and time again that Milan is capable of going to state. Both teams still have to win their games in order to get there! Alcoa CAN get beat (believe it or not) and upset as can Milan. I just hope both teams make it to get my wish because (no matter what anyone says, Milan or Alcoa fan), I know Milan can play with Alcoa this year. They may not win it but I'm still set on them be able to play with Alcoa. I saw Alcoa last year and I know what Milan has this year. Milan can match Alcoa athlete for athlete.

Milan may have good athletes, but they aint matching up athlete to athlete with alcoa. How many D1's has Milan ever produced?? Alcoa will have 3 starting in the SEC this year. 2 at UK and 1 at UT

  10. Im now a sophmore at alcoa highschool and i believe if this team makes 5 in a row then it will make the top of my list but until then i will have to go with the 89 team.

You're just too young my lad to understand how good some of Alcoa's opponents were in the past! The region wasn't as lopsided as it is now.

  11. I was a member of that 89 Loudon squad, and really remembering not having an answer for Williams. They beat us 20-14 in the first round of the playoffs at Alcoa. Loudon and Kingston were the only teams to touch Alcoa that year.

I still own those two playoff games on tape and you guys were pretty good. It seemed like all teams in the area were good and athletic. Even seymour looked good on tape.

  12. Maryville whipped Alcoa at the beginning of the year and now people think that ALcoa is better than MBA, BA, Smyrna, and a lot of other elite 5a teams. I am confused, that does not make much sense.

When will people learn? Just because you're a 5a school doesn't mean you have the better athletes or team, just more students! Maryville did whip Alcoa, but don't think that the game wasn't close for most of the game. GQ and Co. just pulled away, there's not many teams in the state that can whip Alcoa and that's in any classiification!!

  13. Next time you see him , just said CObb and Bigg , then he will know who i am , i promise

I will do. I talked to him tonight and he said that he talked to Indiana coaches today. I don't know what that means but it could add another school to the mix.

  14. Considering neither one of us know who each other are , we really cant judge who knows who more , right?

I know for a fact that I know him more. In case you're his mother, father, or brother then I got you there. He doesn't even know who you are cause I asked him and told him what you said and he said that he didn't know who you were. So I'm sure I'm right about this one.

  15. Many people have pointed out that 2000 and 1989 were the only two teams to beat Maryville but you must take this into consideration Maryvile was not as dominant those years as they have been in more recent years. In 1989 maryville was 5-5 so that point is null, and in 2000 Maryvile lost its first four games including a 28 point loss to heritage it is pretty obvious to me that that was not a typical maryvile team at that point in the season. Yes Meschendorf was a great player and was probaly the overall MVP of the title game until he left late injured but he was no more talented than Kyrus. The secondary in 2000 played no one that could throw in any half way decent maner. I would also like you to answer me what team threw for more than 100 yds on the 2005 first other than Maryville. Mr.Rainer you should know better than anyone that the speed and agility of the 2000 team would run by the 2005 team but they would not throw on them. This is largely because the wing T prevents the use of drop back passing due to the motion and decption involved in offense. Most all pass plays involve a one step drop or the quaterback to boot out to one side of the field effectivley limiting the play to work to only one side of the field. This is how the offense was intended to work since its inception in bay city michigan.

First off, that 2000 heritage team was probably their best team ever! Did you even come to any games in 2000? If you did then you'd know that we just didn't run the wing t. We went 4 and 5 wide when we threw the ball also, and how dare you say that lanxter was as good as meschendorf! Kyrus made great plays, but he wasn't physical at all. Messy seemed to be in the right place all the time and he was as smart as they come on the field. He did make all-state at safety! 7 from 00 make all-state, now that's hard to do on any team! the 05 team was bigger up front and had play makers, but their db's weren't that great! Good, but not great!

  16. Come on Alcoachamps5 are you serious when you say the secondary on the 2005 team was subpar. Three of the four starters will end up at DI institutions Lanxter@ Kentucky, Sommers @ Kentucky (that is what i've heard anyway), Love @ Tennessee (invited walk on), not to mention Alex Green who was an incredible corner and was largely responsible for all of those Intercptions Brian had because Green always had his man covered so tightly that no QB would even think of throwing his way, forcing the pass to go else where.

Now as for who is better, talent along with training and development has advance so much since 1989 that I don't believe that you could say that if you lined up 05 and 89 that 89 would win. But I do believe that the ridiculous speed and athletisism on the 2000 team might be able to confuse the 05 team with Meadows Wing T offense, so in that matchup I would give the nod to the 2000 team. But without a doubt the best, in comparison to the other teams of their day, is the 1989 team they were nationaly ranked after all. So depending on which barometer you choose to judge the teams are those are my answers.

If you haven't noticed the recruiting ways have changed somewhat since the early days. I'm not taking anything away from these players, but there were plenty of players in the 90's and early 00 that were better than these you have listed and most never went on to play college ball. I know for a fact that the 05 secondary wouldn't last a quarter with the team speed of the 00 or 89 team. now the 00 team had probably the best safety Alcoa's ever had in Meschendorf and I do believe that secondary only gave up 100 yrds. one time that year and that was Marvyille. This is just my opinion though.
