  1. Is there a limit to the number of yellow cards you can receive in consecutive matches?

If a player recieves a yellow every match? ok

Also, does receiving a red card counts towards future games' suspension, etc? Is the set at the district level or broader?

    Thanks

  2. Went to the AAA games today, and I wasn't impressed by anyone. It was bad basketball. Missed ft, poor shooting, poor shot selection, sloppy ball handling were evident everywhere. The A and AA games were much better to watch.

Riverdale has the most weapons, but 34 did not finish. Could be big..

Science Hill survived Clarksville's mental checkout for 30 minutes...Graves should have taken over especially after SH's center fouled out.

Overton versus Wilson Central was painful.

Memphis Central has great quickness and are tenacious defensively. They should win. Their coaches' T was a joke.

Prediction: Riverdale v Central, repeat for RHS

  3. Eighth Grade Participation

Section 8. An eighth grade student is eligible to participate for a member school if he/she is enrolled at the

school. Students below the eighth grade are not eligible. Any student repeating the eighth grade shall not be

eligible for high school participation during the year that the student is repeating the eighth grade.

I copied this from TSSAA web site.

I've always been told that there are "rules" that determine which 8th graders can play on high school teams.

Can anyone shed more light on this subject?

    Thanks

It has been my understanding that a student enrolled for example in Ezell-Harding, a school that is K-12, may advance an eighth grader to the varsity. The athlete will not be eligiblle for anymore middle school or jr. high participation once the move is made.

The repeating rules are fairly clear...this should only affect those privates and smaller A community schools.

  4. Ok I am going to give you my position as a coach on pitch calling. The two girls I currently have pitching and catching have been together as pitcher and catcher since they were old enough to start. My catcher knows my pitcher better than any one. When I first took the team, a pitching coach called pitches for them. However as sophomores I began to give them control of pitch selection. Now as Seniors, they are in total control. I think it is important that we as coaches give guidance, encouragement, and feedback. A wonderful tool is the video of the game. Using the video, you can say to them, "Okay why should have called a different pitch? Why do you think that pitch was so effective at that point?" Anyway, back to what I was saying. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Allowing the catcher, in this case, to call in pitches is a good thing. She knows much than I do what is working and what is not. These two have played against most the girls they face either school or during travel ball. They know where they hit, what they hit, and what they cannot hit. It really situational call for coaches.

This reply made me question something I thought about for years. Video is used in many other sports, so how would it be best implemented in softball?

If you currently use video of games, how do you do it/use it?

    Thanks

  5. Waverly v. Harpeth at 6 p.m.

    Sycamore v. Cheatham at 7:30 p.m.

    How do they turn out?

Higher seeds win semi's. Look for Cheatham-Harpeth Championship

and Waverly-Sycamore consolation. Don't see any upsets Friday night.

Do these four play against 12AA in region?

Yep..........Bolivar, McNairy, Southside and Lexington......I will assume by record.
