  1. Portland won't be much of a problem...thanks for the bulletin board material buddy...speaking of "When was the last time"...when was the last time Macon beat Portland. Yes, Portland is young, yes Macon is vastly improved, but "they won't be much of a problem", may be a little too confident a little too early. I'd put full concentration on Smith County for now...they'll be ready to play I assure you. :)

  2. Fan: Imallin hit the nail on the head, although I think the magic number on turnovers may have been seven. In week one, turnovers played a major factor on that setback as well. One particular turnover was a player trying to make a play by returning an interception out of the endzone, only to fumble and have FSHS recover the ball for a touchdown. This came at a time right before half when Portland was leading and I think it was demorilizing, but they continued to fight. Portland was the better team Friday night, but the better team can't win with turnovers. Also correct would be the statement about Trousdale being a better team than Franklin, KY...much more complete. However, Portland continues to fight hard in every game and that is something I, for one, am extremely proud of. If this squad can discipline themselves to do those intangibles, such as getting into the plus side of the turnover ratio, they can be competitive this week. I wish them the best...

  3. I wouldn't call people by their first names if you have no idea what kind of character they posess. Anyone that knows the coaching staff at Portland knows that they have done a great job in the past with regulating the score. I mean, are you suggesting that they throw the ball in the second half. They rarely do it in the first half, they run the wing T. As for starters, it is much more important to the coaching staff to prevent injuries, than to pile on points. Your statement is ridiculous, and your misuse of the word coach instead of first names adds to your absurdity.

  4. Fanman: Thanks for the sentiment...I need it...but we have a ten game season that starts Saturday at home against UTC. As far as I was concerned, I played decent...didn't do anything really bad or good...almost a claim to fame with a sack on Seneca, but as Heisman Hopefuls go, he was still able to get the pass off...they were REALLY good...but it was good for us, too. Best of luck to the Owls Friday in the "Humanitarian Bowl"! ;)

  5. Portland not even mentioned in the top ten...how quickly the table turns. Austin East falls to a 3a team and Portland falls to a top ten team in 4a...coach t, you must have seen something you didn't like in week one. They have an opportunity to pull some major upsets as it stands with a game in week 4 against #1 Trousdale County followed by #9 Ridgeway at home. This week its 2-0 Franklin Simpson, KY who can throw until the cows come home. Can't fault them for their schedule!

On a side note...you do not have to defend yourself on choosing not to rank D11 for whatever reason, whether it is politically correct or not, although your response to "itzme" was more than formidable, which he should agree to...i'm sure he would have something to say if you ranked BA 7th in their region (or whatever) without having proper knowledge of the teams represented. ;)

  6. Smith County avenges last year's setback and beats a solid Oliver Springs team by two scores. By the way, fanman looks as if he may have been going to my school of posting. Congratulations to both teams for the pregame sportsmanship award... ;)

  7. Next question, why would you predict a score against your own team on this board? I can think of better ways to motivate young men. Be careful about throwing out scores in either direction with a rivalry. Trousdale County is the team to beat in region 4-3A but I will never predict a score against the Panthers, not even to motivate...just a suggestion for the future. ;)

  8. Don't get too hasty with that last comment. Did Portland also not have a touchdown called back as well as a dropped touchdown pass. The call on the goaline was simply a judgement call. If you are a referee, then you know that. Portland definitely played a much improved York football team. If they stay healthy, they should do well in region play. Portland has a huge test at Franklin, KY this week.

  9. And who taught ethics? Those statistics mean nothing to me. I could care less about where they live right now, I know the zoning rules, but wonder if they all really "hail" from Williamson County...or if mysteriously, some of the top athletes in the southeast picked the Franklin area as their most desired living environment in the last coulpe years. Don't give me that crap...I know the syatem..ayou can do your sales pitch elswhere. Frankly, I'm not going to respond anymore because I know that you know you are just kidding yourself trying to rationalize and find some mjust value to the situation b/ce it does not exist. :o

  10. It's really hard to say...they are all injuries that are of the nagging nature that will depend on the individual. I think it's safe to say that these people won't miss an entire season, but the hard part is determining when they can play, and if they do, are they jepordizing missing more playing time by aggravating the injury. I realize this is vague at best, but obviously I don't want to pinpoint the people or the injury on the board, but as far as the extent, ANY injury hurts the Panthers as they are thin at all positions right now. :)

  11. Honestly, Portland cannot even think about Trousdale at this point, because York is a formidable opponent coming off a win last week and an 8-2 season a year ago. What presses the issue even more is that Franklin, KY, who was supposed to be young this year, opened the season with a 57-23 win over Greenwood High School in Bowling Green, KY. Portland has to travel to play them. The only thing I can predict about the game is that Portland will assuredly be battle tested. I hope they can stay healthy. As for Trousdale, they should have no problem in weeks two and three with Cannon and Westmoreland. Although Westmoreland will play hard, I think they are just outmanned in this one. Trust me, Portland cannot afford to even think about a week four matchup, Trousdale, on the other hand, can plan all they want, and obviously that is an advantage.
