  1. I believe you mean "definitely" and "ignorance." Just thought I'd enlighten you once more, zoza. You apparently need all the help you can get. Go Lady Bears!
  2. How can you say that Paige McFarlin is Mt. Juliet's second best player? Have you seen (not watched, but seen) her play? I do not know who Mt. Juliet's second best player is, but it is definitely not Paige McFarlin. Christian Gibson, Holly Hudson, Casey Pigue, and Miaka (don't know her last name) are each better than McFarlin. But anyhow, go Lady Bears!!!
  3. For the people who say that Keith Dearing is a good coach and should have been at MJ for more than the one year he was allotted, you are correct. For the people who agree that Ken Cutlip is a good coach, you are correct. For you people who say Tim Bell should coach the Bears once again, you are incorrect. In fact, Tim Bell is the reason that Keith Dearing is no longer at MJ. Not to take anything away from Coach Cutlip, but Dearing should still be at MJ, and had it not been for Athletic Director Bell, he would still be there. Fence riding seems to always cause problems, especially in high school athletics. Coach Cutlip is doing a good job with the players he has on that team--with their talents and personalities. GO BEARS!
  4. I was extremely shocked at the outcome of this year's game. I thought MJ would win but I had no idea they would win 27-0. This game is not the rivarly it should be, nor will it ever be the rivarly it was the very first year when MJ topped WC 21-18. The main reason that first ever meeting between the schools was such a great game was because Dan Winfree was still in the hearts and minds of each MJ junior and senior player. I am not going to say anything at all about the current coaching situation at MJ, but I would love to say that I completely agree with fballfan4lifemj2344 when he talks about how bad the administration is at MJ. That administration (meaning athletic director and principals) is absolutely horrible. No matter how I feel about certain people at MJ, I will continue to cheer them on.
  5. I didn't get to see the finals against Beech so I can't speak on that game, but I'm suprised that Casey Pique received All-District over Christian Gibson. Ultimately the only thing that matters though is what your team did and not what you did as an individual. As a MJ basketball fan I hope that I'll be able to see more of senior Lauren Hudson in the regional games. Lauren is a good ball player who hustles and I wish her the best of luck when she plays.
  6. Redtwin sounds like he knows what he's talking about and y'all are taking everything he says and playing with it...lol. But yea David should have gone to Vandy. Actually to be honest with you I wish we (Vandy) had Okafor (spelling?) from UCONN. Kevin Stallings heavily recruited both David and Okafor. Okafor always said it would either be Vandy or UCONN and David never really leaned toward any particular school. He had Duke, UNC, Colorado, and Vandy narrowed down but no one knew what he would do. I just wish my Dores would have gotten one of them! And to whoever said he would be a first round pick someday...he's good but not that good.
  7. I play basketball and I unfortunately wear ankle braces. I have never worn them until this year. I hate wearing ANYTHING when I play ball. I hate wristbands, knee braces, mouth pieces (although I do wear a mouth piece b/c of a past jaw surgery), headbands, necklaces, etc. I just do not like wearing anything, including ankle braces. But after I sprained my ankle for the first time, if I don't wear a brace now I am almost certain to reinjure one or both of my ankles during a game. Sprained ankles take FOREVER to heal so I believe most people wear braces or tape for protection and strength from reinjuries.
  8. The title of this thread is "COACHES NOT SERIOUS ENOUGH" and I simply stated why many coaches are not very serious. Perhaps the person who started this thread intended on something different, but I saw the title and went with it. Ricky Gulley is a man who has coached baseball and softball in the Nashville area for several years, but has not coached softball in the last couple of years. However, he is very disciplined and he is not a coach that is "not serious enough."

Good luck in Florida girls. I hope y'all come back with the first place trophy.
  10. This is a topic that I feel strongly about and I˜m glad to see that someone started a thread about this. I believe there are two types of coaches. The first is the coach who coaches his/her team on the basis that they˜re only out there to have fun and nothing else matters. Yes, they do enjoy winning games over losing them; however, winning is not nearly as important as just simply knowing that the girls are having fun. The second type of coach is the one who coaches his/her team on the basis that winning is the ultimate goal. This type of coach is the coach who is ˜serious˜ (enough) about the game. He/she coaches because: they love the game for what it is, love the competitiveness, love being a teacher of the game, love discipline, love winning, hate losing, and yes, also love having fun. The second type of coach is strong with his/her discipline and compassionate about the game and about having the respect from the players (through that discipline) that it takes to be a winner on and off the field. I truly believe that many of the first type of coaches don˜t even know that they are that type of coach. I would bet that only a small percentage would admit to being the type of coaches that coach for fun and for fun almost entirely. I have seen very few ˜real coaches˜ out there today. Many of you reading this may know of a man named Mel Brown. Coach Brown has won more Tennessee High School Baseball State Championships that any other coach in history˜Mr. Brown is a ˜real coach.˜ I˜m sure there are more, but the only coaches that come to my mind in the Nashville area that are true ˜second type˜ coaches are Don Lockridge, Ricky Gulley, and Sam Camp. These men are ˜serious enough˜ about the game of softball, they model after Coach Mel Brown (whether they realize it or not), and they play to win.
  11. I don't think that Tnthrow was comparing Allison Tyree to Sara Meek, but that he was just saying that he had heard people doing that. I would agree that doing so is "nuts" and I believe (judging by what Tnthrow said) that he would consider it "nuts" as well. I do not see anywhere on this thread where someone is "bashing" someone else. You're right Allison, this is a team sport. However, unfortunatly some pitchers are so dominant and the team they play for is so weak that this game is often looked at as not being the team sport that it really is. Good luck Brentwood.

Hey girls how are all of y'all doing? I was j/w if you had any open spots?? I'm trying to help a 17 year old find a team and I thought I'd ask y'all. She says she can play anywhere on the field. If you have any open spots and Sam wants to see her then let me know and I'll talk to her about it. Thanks.

Alright well that's cool then. My name's Craig Gulley, so obviously the post on here from Gulleyball was me too. When you only have one class for your whole last semester of high school you have lots of free time to be on the internet I guess.

Haha yea I'm "the lil guy from Mt. Juliet." I doubt there's too many old people umpires that get on CoachT. Well that's good to hear that your rehab is going good so far. Hopefully your knee makes a full recovery b/c you're a good ball player.

Sorry about the knee Cutter. Good luck with the rehab. Yea well since you wanna know who I am, I umpire y'all quite a bit...at Cane Ridge mostly. Good luck next year, I always enjoy umpiring teams that hussel and are well coached.
