Apparantly the replacement is supposed to be better at defending pk's than the all-state keeper. And by the way, it wasnt the coaches decision, it was the keeper's.

I will agree that Kyle Franklin is good, but he isnt a keeper. Ryan Jenkins (Maryville, of course) would most likely be on the top of this list. The rest just don't matter.

South Doyle is the most overrated team in their region. Maryville totally manhandled them tonight, even with the refs against us. It's alright though, we dont need em'. I'm so glad Maryville proved to SD that they are no where as good as Maryville in basketball, now maybe this will put an end to all the South Doyle glorification.

Are you serious?? All the talk about Alcoa's student section, and I was highly dissapointed in their Marsh Pit . They had no students to support their substandard team, and no one could even hear them. They had the gayest chants, and they were some of the worst sports I've ever seen. It was quite pathetic. Duck and Brandon Warren had horrible games, they might as well just stick to football cause they have nothing going for them in bball. Alcoa's play was appalling, and Maryville definitely would have won if Coach Nelson wasnt sick. I cant wait till the next meeting of these two teams when Maryville shows Alcoa who is realy better. If I was a fan of Alcoa, I would be embarassed to have such a weak student section as the Marsh Pit . 14-1

Its hard to respect someone I've never heard of, and I live in Maryville, right outside of Knoxville.

Alcoa vs. Maryville is about as big as it gets when it comes to rivalries in TN. Im not sure on how far back it goes, but I know its long and I'm sure another fan could give you that info. As far as pranks go in football, one year Alcoa put a big A on our field with grass killer and Maryville did the same to them with an M. The Alcoa duck pond has had rebel flags stuck in the middle of it, and i've heard of their school getting paintballed but Im not sure. Those are just some of the pranks I can remember in recent years.

Every Alcoa vs. Maryville game I have been to, Alcoa has usually had a pretty lousy student section. The best I have seen in the county would probably be WB. They were standing up for the girls game...

To me it doesnt sound like Siegal would be the best place to play. They just seem to be a bunch of thugs and hooligans over there the way some of you talk about them getting thrown out of games. The Maryville players are more than ready for Alcoa. The Maryville team has shown they are ready to contend with anyone in the area. Alcoa wont be able to handle our determination, and that is why they will get stomped by the Rebels.
