I figured that would be the response.  But they still seem less scared than what is being portrayed on here by Bump11.  They do bring in duals teams from other states for their tournament, but why would we consider that?  It seems to me that other Tennessee teams would want a shot at wrestling against Cleveland and getting better.

I get it.....scheduling is tough and usually takes a few years.  I've been here since 1996 and only seen Camden County at traditional state. The way things go down here, teams don't seem to string decades of greatness.  So you could schedule and they not be good anymore.

Out of curiosity who and where is the 135 consecutive found?  What I do know is  while my son was there we lost to Wyoming Sem at Lake Norman duals his freshman year and we lost to Baylor at the Cleveland duals his sophomore year. As for Jefferson Co Ga I know we wrestled them two years in a row and beat them both years at the Smoky Mountain duals.
As for Camden…it was either last year or the year before that Cleveland traveled to  Ga to wrestle them but I am unsure the outcome of that as my son had already graduated. I guess the point I’m making is that they do travel to big tournaments to wrestle…just not a full team which I agree with. Some kids are just not ready for that level of competition. Just my opinion on that tho.

We're only talking duals.  And they have been in tournaments with Camden and if my memory is still intact they finished behind Camden.

they were supposed to face Lake Highland Prep but somehow that fell through! I do wish they would have Camden county or Buford up to the Cleveland duals, I also think Jefferson GA was supposed to be at the Cleveland Duals this year but didnt make it.

Wow, I didnt know Jefferson isnt as good as they usually are, finished 4th in their division in state duals

You know they could go to Camden County.....stop and visit in Dublin, Ga on the way......I believe a certain Cleveland coach is from there......remember watching him in High School....stud. You know they're even getting a new Buc-ee's in Brunswick.

Jefferson's Coach Thurmond retried after many years at the helm. New coaches are ex Collins Hill and Parkview wrestlers.

  4. "The Cleveland High School boys wrestling team has won 135 consecutive dual matches".........sounds like someone needs to go look for a little competition.....like maybe The Clash.....Powerade Final Four Duals.....invite Buford or Camden County up from Georgia.

I remember going to that and it was great. Not sure rules allow stuff like that anymore but it would be nice if they could.

I'd pay to see Buford and Camden County against Tennessee's best......

As for scheduling I worked with Jim Morgan over a couple years to find a date Collins Hill and Baylor could wrestle.  So it does take time, often years.  We finally worked out wrestling the night before the Cleveland Duals and we did that for a few years.  If I remember correctly us wrestling the night before gave everyone an extra pound. (Let me know if I'm wrong)

We, CH,  finally wrestled the night Worsham Wrestling Arena was dedicated.......I was talking with one of my Baylor buddies......I'll just use initials....JW....and someone walked up and asked if Collins Hill was the team brought in for the slaughter.......I think JW spit his drink out...he knew.

They were already scheduled for the RMC duals!!! Where they faced teams like Blair and other top 25 teams in country. Rex is done dealing with Cleveland after not signing a very fair contract that had been discussed extensively. I don’t blame him.

    I feel special now.....

But what cobrakid8 said has happened.......I don't remember the year....but before one of UTC's home matches Bradley Central and Parkview squared off.  Be cool if every year the TN and GA State Duals champs could meet before a UTC match.

  7. If anyone is interested......posting because info in Georgia is hard to find....

Yeah, they most likely go 3-2 this year which is still good, you don’t get better if you don’t wrestle better competition! It’s one reason I would laugh at anyone that said that Baylor was ducking Cleveland and not wrestling a dual when they don’t shy away from any competition. Just couldn’t be worked out it seems.

Never know......we took a scrappy team up to an event like that......won all except a loss to Blair by 3.

Cleveland looks to be in a good spot to possibly win this with all 15 weights entered. They are going toe to toe with South Dade. Buford only has 9 and missing their 144 Pope from last week. Finished 4th at stampede.

I could be wrong, but I think Buford only took 10 to KC Stampede....not sure where the rest of them are.

Is there a place to view Georgia rankings that doesn't charge? I'd like to be able to do a team by team breakdown for Saturday.

I'm as frustrated as you about the lack of info for Georgia.  Ga Grappler does have some free articles you can look at and I know I did see one that was an overview of 7A and other classifications.  I also hate having 7 classifications......

In Gwinnett County, home of Buford, Mill Creek, Mountain, Brookwood, Parkview and others, there is a newspaper site that does a fair job of covering wrestling....The Gwinnett Daily Post.   It's not free, but it's pretty cheap.

  12. Found this:

In her semifinals, Fowler opened up her offense in the second period to dominate Alikaksandra Kazlova, an Individual Neutral Athlete, 10-2. The bout was tied at 2-2 at the break, but Fowler came right out and scored a big four-point takedown to start the second period. She added two more takedowns to finish off the win. Kazlova, a silver medalist at the 2023 U17 European Championships, resides in Belarus.

Fowler shut out her first two opponents on Wednesday morning by a combined 19-0 margin. She will battle 2022 U17 World bronze medalist Lotta Englich of Germany in the championship finals.
