  1. Boy, you guys aren't going to cut me any slack are you? We've done okay so far, but we'll get a real test on Saturday. Look forward to meeting some of you. Good Luck! Ross Copeland (RMC)
  2. Sky, I can understand the seeding because we aren't as strong as we have been in past years; so I'm sure that was taken into consideration. We only have 5 returning starters, and one of those is out because of knee surgery. Heck our 103 pounder doesn't even have any arms or legs! On the good side, we are guaranteed of wrestling Bradley which is always the yardstick for us to be measured by. The goal is to get better by wrestling the best and our bracket looks pretty tough. We'll just have to see what happens. I can't wait to come up. It's always nice to be back near home and around the outstanding wrestling the Chattanooga area offers.
  3. Thanks Bleacherbutt, yes...Waller. I don't know about you, but I think the officiating yesterday was terrible.
  4. Karelin I think you might be mistaken. The match lasted less than 30 seconds and was 0 - 0 before Manley was taken down to his back. Yes, Spencer made a mistake, got caught and pinned quickly, but Nick was expecting the the front headlock and basically countered it and put him on his back. I and about everyone else expected a great match, and was surprised it ended so quickly. Please don't slight Nick. Nick has only lost one match since Spencer beat him in the McCallie tournament last year. That includes beating John Lane 13 - 5 and winning the NHSCA Nationals this year. His lone loss was in the finals of the summer nationals this summer. Nick Lukacs is an outstanding wrestler and maybe the best 145 in the Southeast. At least that's what the recruiters think. I also in no way mean to slight Spencer; he is a stud.
  5. I'll tell you who I know about: Cleveland, Bradley, Collins Hill (Ga.), Christian Brothers, Franklin, Ringgold, Lassiter (Ga.) and Dobbyns Bennett. I hope everyone will come out and cheer for and watch Kyle Maynard. He is an outstanding wrestler and kid. There are some posts about him already on this board, but Kyle is the 103 pounder that was born without arms or legs. So far this year he is 7 and 1. I've seen allot of wrestlers in my time, but everytime Kyle wrestles I get a lump in my throat. He is amazing. Please, come see Kyle and bring your kids because Kyle proves that no matter what the odds are if you want something enough all obstacles can be overcome.
  6. Manley lost to Nick Lukacs, Collins Hill. I'm not 100% certain on this, but I think Cleveland lost Olson from Walton.
  7. Round 1 Pool A McEachern 49, Pope 21 Collins Hill 39, Centennial 24 Pool B Walton 68, Lee County 9 Starr's Mill 33, McCallie 31 Round 2 Pool A McEachern 48, Centennial 20 Collins Hill 60, Pope 7 Pool B Walton 41, Starr's Mill 19 McCallie 48, Lee County 30 Round 3 Pool A Collins Hill 32, McEachern 32 (Collins Hill wins on criteria) Centennial 43, Pope 26 Pool B McCallie 46, Walton 30 Starr's Mills vs. Lee County Collins Hill wins pool A 3-0 McCallie wins pool B 2-1 (three-way tie, McCallie advances on criteria) Round 4 1st place match - Collins Hill 44, McCallie 34 3rd place match - McEachern 39, Walton 26 5th place match - Centennial 44(?), Starrs Mill 25(?) 7th place match - Lee County vs. Pope
  8. I saw Ryan Scott yesterday at the Walton Duals and he looked outstanding.
  9. Will Franklin be at the Cleveland Duals next weekend (12/13)?
  10. Hope this link works. It was sort of hard to find since it's listed under '04 tournaments. http://www.okwrestle.com/cgi-bin/viewtourn...&yr=04&type=reg

    UTC quad?

I too was impressed at how improved the UTC team is. I think Brands has them headed in the right direction.
  12. Doesn't McCallie wrestle Ringgold on 12/2 also?
  13. FYI....I checked the results of the Oklahoma Open and don't see his name in the first 4 places (all they show) for any weight class.
  14. Leen wasn't there. From what I heard, he was in the midwest at a tourney.
  15. Xander Zone..I ask because my son is a 6th grader, and I'm trying to decide if I should put him in there or not. He would probably be in the 127 pound class and I figured that might be full of 8th graders. He's a good 6th grader, not an outstanding one. For some of you that may sound funny, but we don't have middle school wrestling down here (Ga.). He wrestles the USAW Novice class kids and was 3rd in the state last year as a midget. I may put him in there, the worst that can happen is he would get experience....rather quickly!

So that should make for a pretty good Cleveland Duals with Cordell, Talley, and Warfield there.
  17. Is there usually a large middle school turn out for the Southern Open?
  18. Nice article about a great kid. He's the kind of person you want the kids in the youth programs to look up to.
  19. Looking for something to do after Thanksgiving? Come on down for wrestling on Friday!
  20. Could you post the article? I can't read the online artice without subscribing to their on-line service.
  21. Just wanted to add an FYI - The Thanksgiving Parkview Tournament at Parkview High School in Lilburn, Ga will have girls brackets available. Friday 11/28 will be for high school ages and have varsity and JV brackets. Saturday will be for girls ages 4 - 14. Information for this and all Georgia tournaments can be found at: http://www.teamgeorgiawrestling.com

    Top Duals

More Cleveland Duals info. Lassiter from Ga. will be there also. One of the kids they are bringing is Runnels at 189; he finished 51 - 0 last year and may make for a great match if he gets the chance to wrestle Marabel from Christian Brothers. Side note, from what I understand Runnels is the son of Dusty Rhodes the professional wrestler. You guys know about all the Tennessee wrestlers that will be there so I'll try to provide as much info as I can about the Georgia wrestlers that are coming.
  23. Coach Ramos does a great job getting the your wrestlers matches. We try to get all the guys matches and it usually works out to at least 8 or 10 matches for the guys not on varsity. Some get many more than that. They are on JV-1, JV-2 and 9th grade teams. Last year the JV-1 and JV-2 teams were entered into a Varsity tournament when the varsity was out out of town and placed 1st and 3rd. Collins Hill also has a "King of the Hill" tournament that is the equivalent of a state championship for JV wrestlers. You can check out www.collinshillwrestling.com to take a look how the schedules work out.
  24. Voleagle....my apologies, you are correct. Must be why they want Drew to go to 174!
