  1. It was Senior Night at Page as Nicole Smith, Chelsea Rion, and April Ganser were honored before the Varsity match with gifts and flowers as their parents came to mid-court to hug their daughters. They will all be missed next season.

Page rolled to another district win over Lewis Co. 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-2). Page remains undefeated in District 12-AA with a record of 11-0 and has an overall record of 30-4. The Page JV also won 2-0 (25-19, 25-18) even though the team was down to 6 players due to injury, sickness, and an absence.

I'll put some Varsity team stats up later after I run my spreadsheets.

  2. Thanks, Hikerman for the correct overall record for Ravenwood. Sometimes the information in "The Tennessean" for weekend tournaments is missing and also on the schedules here on coacht.

Here are the team stats that I gathered for Ravenwood/Page:

    Ravenwood: 64 Pos Pts (42 Kills, 9 Blks, 13 Aces) - 41 Assts - 27 Neg Pts (14 AE, 7 SE, 3 BHE, 3 NV)

    Page: 46 Pos Pts (35 Kills, 4 Blks, 7 Aces) - 33 Assts- 61 Digs - 29 Neg Pts (17 AE, 5 SE, 2 BHE, 5 NV)

  3. Ravenwood continued their undefeated season with a win over Page in Rudderville 3-1 (18-25, 25-14, 25-23, 25-11). Page won the first game, but Ravenwood recovered to take game 2. It was a close fought game 3, but Ravenwood escaped with the win and went on to take game 4 fairly easily. Page's record is now 20-3 and I believe Ravenwood is now 17-0. The Ravenwood JV also won 2-0 (25-18, 25-14). I'll post some team stats later.

  4. At Page, we recently changed who keeps up with digs from the bench to our dedicated scorekeeper. We use the definition used by the NCAA stat manual. Digs are not given off opposing team blocks since they are not off an attack. Also, any ball from the opposing team that is deemed a desperation attack or "free ball" does not count as a dig. As play4keeps stated it can be a hard driven ball, but according to the stat maual, a dig can be awarded on a tipped ball since it is an attack. If the receiving player on an attack shanks the ball, there is no dig awarded. The pass from the digger to the next player must be "good" which relates to the passing grade that play4keeps stated. At Page we don't count a dig unless an acceptable pass is made. I'm sure that each team varies on how they determine a dig so some newspaper stats may not be accurate.

  5. Match Summary: Page 2, Brentwood 0

    Page: 35 Pos. Pts. (26 Kills, 4 Blks, 5 Aces) - 24 Assts - 45 Digs - 12 Neg. Pts. (7 AE, 4 SE, 1 NV)

    B'wood: 17 Pos. Pts. (13 Kills, 3 Blks, 1 Ace) - 13 Assts - Digs NA - 15 Neg. Pts. (9 AE, 5 SE, 1 NV)

Page had two players with double digit digs and one player with double digit kills and another with 9.

  6. In a match played at Battle Ground Academy, the Page Lady Patriots took a great win over the Brentwood Lady Bruins 2-0 (25-15, 25-14). If my memory serves me correctly, this is the first time Page has beaten Brentwood in a regular season match. Page made great digs all match and ended up with 45 digs. I'll run the numbers on the other stats and post an update later tonight.

  7. Here is the game-by-game stat summary. I will not give details on Negative Points or Players' Individual Stats - sorry.

    Indy: 46 Pos. Pts. (33 Kills, 3 Blks, 10 Aces) - 27 Assts - 23 Neg. Pts.

Even though Indy had fewer mistakes, Page's firepower proved the difference.

Page had 3 players with double digit kills, while Indy only had 2.

  8. The Page Lady Patriots defeated defending State AAA Champion Independence 3-1 (24-26, 25-14, 25-21, 25-23). Independence won a close first game, but Page came back in game 2. The remaining two games were very close, but Page took the game and match in game 4. Page's overall record is now 13-1. The Independence JV won 2-0 (25-18, 25-17). I'll some more commentary and team stats on a game-by-game basis when I total the stats.

  9. Here are the team totals:

    Page: 60 Pos. Pts (26 Kills, 2 Blks, 32 Aces) - 23 Assts - 29 Digs - 12 Neg. Pts (9 AE, 1 SE, 4 NV)

    E. Hickman: 14 Pos. Pts (12 Kills, 0 Blks, 2 Aces - 9 Assts - 15 Neg. Pts (7 AE, 5 SE, 1 DH, 2 NV)

Page had 9 Players with Aces and 3 had 6 each. The TSSAA record for aces by a team in a match is 42 by Houston against Wooddale last season.

I'll go back to Page's previous matches this season and show some more team totals for other interested.

  10. Page made the long ride to Hohenwald and came away victorious 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-12) as the heat in the gym affected their play to some extent. The Page JV also won 2-0 (25-20, 25-11). The Varsity record is now 10-1 overall and 5-0 in District 12-AA. The JV record is 6-0 overall and 5-0 in district play. I'll have some team varsity match stats later after I do my spreadsheets.
