  1. anyone you guys know who made all region? I was wondering if anybody from central made it. hey was that guy from JC who wears some junior ROTC or some kind other kind of uniform there? that guy was more laughs than a barrel of drunk monkeys. good luck in the sub state to both teams
  2. i don't know...how tall is he now? The varsity at Science Hill is so young there might not be room for him. Also, how did that kid named 'Omar' and the kid who plays point guard and wears glasses do this year? Indian Trail middle had a big left handed kid who I bet will be real good next year.
  3. ArtVandalay, I don't think you have to worry about people not cheering for DB. I have been able to see alot of middle school players from East TN the last couple of years and I can give you my picks for high schools with the most young talent. 1. Sullivan South - South has some inside players who are going to be giants and these are not uncoordinated players either. They also have alot of shooters. Whether these kids keep playing or don't transfer to DB remains to be seen. 2. Science Hill - This group should be good. Willis Reed's boy is a man child inside. Also have some a good ball handler and alot of kids who can shoot. 3. Dobyns-Bennett - I haven't seen any of there middle schools play but they beat the science hill middle school team both times they played them. I saw the Sensabaugh kid play a couple of years ago and he was pretty good then but I hear he is real tough now. 4. Sullivan Central - The 2 middle schools that feed into central have the best middle school coaches in the area. Ever since those two started coaching central has gotten better every year.
  4. yeah...John is a great player...that guy worked harder than any player i have ever seen at central....i hate that to be his last game, he did everything he could to try and pull out that victory. Good luck to Betsy and JC in your sub state games.
  5. autkfan....hey thanks for that post...i think that both betsy and central will go to the substate again this year...i hate it for betsy's players that Brown got hurt at central that day...i do love the chairbacks on all the seats but i would have to say that either Buck Van Huss Dome or Viking Hall are the best in East TN....they refinish the floor about every other year at Van Huss Dome.
  6. hey..jrock20lr is only 13 i doubt he could post up redd but i gurantee he could shoot you out of the gym. i love this "class" all you betsy fans have been talking about.
  7. b4etown...jrock20lr is my little brother and what he is talking about is after the game vince kinda decided to pull his shorts down when they went to get their trophy at the end..dont know if he did it to the fans or not, even if he did no big deal cause he had to take alot of crap from all of us yelling over the back the whole night treadwaycrazy...i don't think science hill played in freedom hall this year...they used to play in it alot back when jovan and bailey played cause the crowds were so big. relax man, i apologized for the comment about the reading. the thing is though we are complaining but the players for central and elizabethton seem to get along well...vaughn and hardin really seem to be pretty good friends...whoever the guy is on here who is hardin's son..please let me in on how he plays that matchup zone..hehe...that has to be the toughest defense to play againist...seems like he hardin has went to more man to man this year though [Edited by brock20 on 3-2-03 12:50A]
  8. anyone seen Gatlinburg Pittman or Claiborne County play? wondering how good these teams were. also, b4etown and jrmyhdge, no hard feelings guys. the reading comment i made was uncalled for. i just like to sit with the people i know. I think i am just jealous because everytime your cheerleaders did a "defense" cheer you guys were in sync and when us central fans tried it was all screwed up...hehe. Good luck to all the D1 teams next week. [Edited by brock20 on 3-1-03 11:47P]
  9. ok...central seats about 3000, so what are you talking about having enough seats?....and i am not worrying about getting beat up by the betsy fans (volunteer fans maybe...hehe..just kidding)...i was just getting mad cause some guy from betsy would not shutup...anytime LeSeur would make a steal he would say he was fouling and kept yelling at him...also the guy above him saved like 3 seats which nobody ever showed up in....when i go to a game i like to seat with the people i know and people I played ball with, not someone cheering for the other team, whether they are polite or not. P.S. I am not making excuses for Central. They had the game and just make a couple of bad decisions down the stretch and Betsy capitalized on them.
  10. first off i have been going to games since i was 5. the other side was not full at the time...i got there 30 minutes before the JC/Volunteer game and the other side was not even full, but those people felt the need to save about 3 or 4 rows on the wrong side. i am not going to even talk about it anymore because if those people cannot even read the sign outside that tells you where to sit, Lord knows they can't read this entire paragraph. P.S. Elizabethton is not supposed to have "home court advantage". Betsy is just hosting the tournament. But it doesn't matter, cause if they sit on the wrong side during the regionals i will just stand up in front of them the whole game. [Edited by brock20 on 3-1-03 8:51P]
  11. no, you all were on the right side. the side across from the benches was for volunteer and betsy and the side behind the benches was for central and johnson county. i hate to make a big deal about it but i hate when the person setting next to you is going for the other team. But on another note. Both Central and Betsy are really good teams. I think that they both could play with science hill or dobyns bennett. hopefully both teams will make it to the state so when can cheer each other on.
  12. no there are no rules about were to sit...i guess it is just rude to sit on the wrong side. another thing is it would not bother me as much if they just got there own seats but they get one guy or woman there early and save an entire row. i guess if we had the district or regional at a gym that could seat more than 1200 it wouldn't be such a problem. anyone know how good the teams in region 2 AA are? i know central scrimmaged pigeon forge before the season started and did pretty well.
  13. getting there early does not have anything to do with it...one side is for elizabethton fans and one is for central fans...it doesn't get any simpler than that...the only thing sitting on the wrong side does is cause trouble that could easily be avoided. stokomo: what happened on that play where lindholm got his 5th foul? there was so much going on i didn't see what happened. unless he just pushed someone in the back or something i think they should have just let it go because everyone was going after the ball on that play.
  14. the only thing I remember Dunford doing againist Volunteer at Central was scoring about 20 some points. What a game againist central and elizabethton. i really thought the cougars had it. one good thing is we are not in the same bracket as volunteer, they are so streaky you don't know what to expect from them. hopefully ehs and chs will meet again in the regional finals. P.S. One question for everyone from elizabethton who sat on the wrong side. Did you guys not see the sign in the hall that pointed to the other side. they don't just put that out there for no reason. central student's couldn't even sit at the bottom because of those people.
  15. seems like this matchup could eventually lead to a nice rivalry..but from what i have heard in 2 years central will be back up to 3A. Can't wait til the game Friday. Hope the Cougars will be on there game. P.S. Is Lester Bailey a jr or sr?
  16. ok this will be my last response...i agree with you that Lindholm had a great year, but with all the good seniors in the conference this year how could you give player of the year to a sophmore? I guess the thing is this conference is loaded with talented this year. P.S. Too bad you guys didn't have the coach you have now 4 years ago when Ryan Moore, Morelock and Richmond and those guys where there. That coach never let them push the ball. I remember everytime we played them if they got a 2 point lead with 7 minutes to go in the fourth quarter he would get them into a four corner set and hold the ball. That team could have went to the state that year. Good luck in the regionals.
  17. I have seen at least 8 teams this year play Leseur man to man and the rest of the team play zone, and I have seen teams play BJ Miller with a man always on him, and Lord knows Vince Redd gets everyone's attention when he walks off the bus...And about big games...When Volunteer came to the Cougar Cage this year and it was a game for 2nd place in the conference, what kinda stats did Lindholm have that game? I definitely think Lindholm is a good player but he is not on the level of those other guys yet. P.S. No a dunk is not a hustle play...but taking a charge on one is...that is what i was trying to say. [Edited by brock20 on 2-27-03 12:09A]
  18. who cares about stats? when a game is over i do not have to go look at a stat book to see who had a good game. they also don't keep stats for hustle...like tonight when Redd came in for one of his dunks, Lindholm just gets out of the way when he could have easily taken a charge and at that time could have changed the momentum of the game. i saw Leseur last week at Unaka dive for a ball from like the foul line that was about an inch away from going out of bounds and tipped it to his teammate for a layup and a foul, he nailed the wall with his shoulder in the process...also things like big shots...it seems like everytime a team starts to make a run on Elizabethon to get back in the game or something, BJ Miller seems to hit a 3 that breaks the others teams spirits....things like that do not get in the stat book
  19. District 1-AA has alot of good players in it...but anyone who has seen Vince Redd play knows that when he gets pumped up to play he is pretty hard to stop...Lindholm is a good player, but not the best in that conference...he is probably 4th behind Redd, John Leseur, and BJ Miller.
