  1. The pre-season coaches poll last year also had TN High over Central. How did that turn out for the vikes?
  2. Maybe they didn't handle the pressure from Greeneville when Central had their 3rd or 4th string in there and Greeneville still had their starters. Central rotated 5 in and 5 out while Greeneville played 7 guys the whole scrimmage. If Greeneville is the best district 2 has then it will be a complete sweep this year in the regional for district 1.
  3. I agree with one of your earlier post about not making the same mistake with Clark like they did with Shipley. At the time DB got rid of Shipley their b-ball program was very strong and when they let him go it took longer than it should have to bring it back where it is now. Clark is a good man and 10-1 seasons are pretty dang good. I have personally seen Coach Clark at the YMCA talk to every kid there and ask how they are doing and joke around with them. I don't think people realize how hard it is to win a state. I also don't think people realize how much pressure is on Coach Clark and the kids there because they know if they don't win the state their season is viewed as a failure. That is hard to live up to.
  4. I agree with you. Just being an observer I think that DB does not give a lot of attention to its ground game. And I can kinda see how it gets ignored. When you have athletes like Coty and others who can just blow by the defenders in this area so easily why not just throw it up there every other play and get a touchdown. It seems like to me that the teams that win the state in football are the teams with a strong running game. Playoff games in any sport seem to be more conservative than in the regular season. Coaches become hesitant to call that flea flicker or other trick play because they know if it goes wrong it could change the outcome of the game and could end the season. Thus putting the blame squarely on the coaches shoulder, whereas if you call conserative plays the coach can always say we didn't execute. There really is no easy solution for this. If DB stays with its current offense then they will continue to destroy everyone in the NET area but will become vulnerable during playoff time. If they change schemes they will be more ready for the playoffs but may stumble a couple of times during the regular season because the games will be closer.
  5. I would imagine when they put "No one is going to get my Mo west" they meant to put "No one is going to get by Mo west". Doesn't that seem to make more sense? CalmCalm downdown fanfan.
  6. Compared to the rest of the Big 9 conference.
  7. You all probably don't have a big man like Mann this year but you all do have one of the better guard combos with Browder and Cradic, the only combo better is Throp and Sensabaugh.
  8. I think he is more like the village idiot of Bristol...
  9. Honestly I didn't know until now that he went to high school in TN. So yeah, he should be there.
  10. Tony Delk Vincent Yarborough Ron Mercer Penny Hardaway David Harrison Honorable Mention: Tony Harris
  11. Too bad nobody did that when TN High got beat in the DISTRICTS. Nobody really cared whether they got beat or not because they weren't that good. I guess you joined in on the key rattling because like the old saying goes "If you can't beat them, join them." 0 - Cap1 2 - Central
  12. Matching wits with you would be like going up againist a one-legged man in a butt kicking contest.
  13. If you followed this team very closely you would know that they do have a 6'5 post player coming back who played well at the end of last year and played well all summer. Plus a few players from the JV last year who have waited their turn. Maybe we could go back to the old slow down ball that Central used to play before Vaughn started coaching. That sure was fun to be a part of.
  14. How again are DB's post players green? They all played varsity last year because like I said THEY ONLY LOST ONE PLAYER FROM LAST YEAR! And for who is going to stop Omar for DB...Well Throp and Sensabaugh did it last year so why can't they do it this year? I probably bash DB more than anyone on this board but I can admit that they are far and above the favorite for this year. What is it about Central that always makes you think they are going to be terrible every year when you consistently get proven wrong? Is it because they are not usually big? Is it because they might not have some of the athleticism of some of the other schools? Am I getting warmer? You don't have to say they are going to win the conference but give them some respect for how they have played the last few years. I will agree with you on one thing, Gabe chances for a scholarship were hurt because he played post so much. Gabe was a good ball handler and shooter but it was never really seen because for us to be real successful last year he had to play post to cause matchup problems.
  15. I wish I would have seen this post sooner because this may be your best yet... So you are saying that this years DB team cannot compete with South and SH because they lack size?!? If you didn't know DB lost ONE player from last year and he was the point guard and they did pretty well. How will they not be able to compete this year with almost the same exact team from last year?!?!? And if you didn't know DB has some of the best post players in the area. How do you think it will be the "Year of the Hill" when they lost 3 starters and DB lost one? And I think Morgan has plenty of SENESCE as you call it considering he took a team that was supposed to be garbage and made it farther than any of us. If he thinks Sylvester is ready to play he will, but I don't see him being anything more than the 8th or 9th guy this year.
  16. And why wouldn't you. Your predictions have been so good in the past. To put Central and Volunteer so low it is obvious you have no idea what these teams have coming back.
  17. Before Wiggins got hurt this summer he was the only area player to be listed on the Rivals150. Wiggins is also still ranked higher than Omar on there too. Wiggins is a 3 star while Omar is a 2 star. Doesn't look too obvious to me.
  18. There is no "15 year domination". The last 5 or 6 teams at SH have been no where near dominating. The dominating teams at SH were from about '91 to '01, during the Pitts era. Those days are long gone. With Pitts gone, the conference seems to be wide open about every year.
  19. Yeah, it is pretty hard to not say he is not the best from this area. Skip Brown - Wake Forest Legend Article
  20. I don't think you get the question. I was asking for an all-star like team of past players from our area. I agree, they were probably the best all around team in this area ever.
  21. Those are all great teams.... Ignorant response though. Don't be a troll.
  22. Ok I found out I am thinking of Shane Carnes from DB.
  23. How did that quote you posted of mine contradict anything I have said?
  24. I think he actually transferred to Oak Hill for his senior year...I am right or wrong about that? For some reason I think he may have even been in a Sports Illustrated article one time when they were talking about Oak Hill. Can anyone confirm this or I am just dreaming this up?
  25. What do you mean eat crow? I knew Omar was getting recruited by those schools...anyone can look at Unapproved Website and see what is going on. My point was the hype around him has gotten to ridiculous proportions. I just wonder if the scouts see him play school ball or AAU ball because I would find it hard to believe they would like his antics during some of the Central games. Usually if a player is good enough to go D1 he is good enough to will his team to that state even if they have to do it by themselves. I hate to tell you but SH had a better chance last year of going to the state than this year. No way they get by DB or Greeneville so they will be lucky to make it past regionals. All the rumors I had heard was saying he was going to UTC though, so I guess I was definately wrong there. Whether or not he plays much at Georgetown doesn't really matter, as long as he gets his degree from there it was a good decision for him.
