  1. Krich, they made this decision as a group. It wasn't made by each individual. Did they talk about it with each other? Did they meet and discuss the situation? If so then yes it was a group. And if it is a group (they do talk about "us" doing this and "us" doing that in other posts") then there has to be a leader. I sure that not each individual feels as stongly about the decision as the other. I'm sure there is probably more than one that is not truly sure but are going a long with the others. This makes them followers. And until they do make the decision "to return. Or not." then their decision has been made not to be members of the program.

I'm also sure some of the Daniel Boone players feel at peace with their decision now. My question was would they feel this way 10 years from now. Again I'll refer to my prior post about most players that have quit regret it later on in life. I feel for this young ladies. I just find it hard to believe this is the best option for them to take.

Screen, again I like what your typing, the truth, but I don't think you will get through to this one.

  2. If you are going to post on here then you must be willing to have someone respond to your posts. If you want to keep it inhouse then you shouldn't put it on Coacht. I really don't think anyone is putting your skills as a player down. Some like myself are questioning the choices you have made, but again only you can make these choices and you will have to deal with the outcomes good or bad. You talk about how much you improved and how much you love playing the game and how good you all could be and then to let someone keep you from doing what you love. If you as a group wanted to make it a great year I truly believe you could inspite of coaching. Good players overcome bad coaching. Sure the coach might make some decisions that make it harder but you if truly wanted it bad enough you shouldn't let that get in the way. If you wanted it bad enough and loved it enough you could make comprimises to accomidate each side. But I really feel you all have made the decision to be your way or no way. I'm not taking up for Coach Wright, I'm sure he has a lot to learn as a coach and may not turn out to be a good one. But ask yourself and only answer it yourself truthfully: How much of a chance did you give him? You started your post by talking about things that had happened in the past. Please realize the past is gone and can't be changed no matter how bad you would like it. It's just not going to happen. I do realize you are a young lady and can understand and appreicate the fact you are standing up for something you believe and I hope you feel that way in the years to come. You say you want to be in camps playing then you should be in camps playing. Try not to back yourself into a corner where there is no way out. I am not telling you what to do in no manner. I am only telling you what I would tell my own daughter if she was in this position. Try to think what you will feel like 10 years from now. People won't remember why you quit, they will just know you quit. When someone asks you did you play basketball in high school and you answer "I quit because the coach....", they will just remember you quit. I'm sorry but this is how it will be, I do know. Again only my opinion and I don't know you, I don't know Coach Wright, I only know I hate to see young people make decisions that they might regret later in life.

    Nail on the head!

  3. Just another question which does go a long with this situation, I wonder what the girls at Daniel Boone that quit think now? Maybe Buc daddy will read this and give us some insight to their situation. I wonder how they will feel 10 years down the road. I have known a lot of kids that quit for some reason or another and about 90% of those now say it was a very big mistake for them to have quit and wish they never would have done it. I wonder if those girls (Boone) still feel like it was the right choice and did they accomplish what they wanted? The only thing to change in that situation was they didn't play and the team probably didn't win as many as games as they would have but the team still managed to go on without them. I hope these young ladies at Unaka sit back and really think about what they want. Their decision, and yes it is their decision, will only keep them from playing. The Unaka team will go on without them. I just hope they don't make a decision they will regret later on in life.

Best post I've read! That 90% is what the players, parents, and "friends of the program" better look at. Ten years from now those young ladies that are in that 90%, and there will be some, will be looking at why they quit. That"s when you wouldn't want to be one of the ones that made it seem "ok" to quit. THAT is what they will NEVER forget OR forgive. REMEMBER, they will NEVER get it back!

  4. Unaka has several things to work out and it's going to take them a year or so. Regarding the coaches........ they have a good one up there who's working with the Freshman, but the others ones are a joke, the head coach worries way too much about what he looks like and the other one..... no one likes him or respects him....

    Just my $0.02 worth

Seems to me you need to take Jr. to the house! WE LIKE ALL OF OUR COACHES AT UNAKA!

  5. Thats a bunch of horse crap. Its not the opponents choice. If we win tonight, then Hampton will be our home gym and somebody will be coming to Hampton.

When Cloudland decided (and it was THEIR choice) not to go by the TSSAA rules they lost their choice of where to play their Home Sub-State. Cloudland WILL play on the road, regardless of the outcome of the game. Poor decision making on someones part, and as usual, the kids pay the price for the next four years.

  6. Time will only tell if they will be able to compete in a couple of years. Alot of hard work will have to be put in... Unaka had a TON of luck to win the state championship that year. Don't get me wrong, they were a good team. But it just seemed like they got every break imaginable. They beat Cloudland for the district title on a controversial foul call on the Landers with no time left on the clock. In the sub-state they hit a buzzer-beater from about 8 feet behind the 3 point line while falling out of bounds to beat Cosby. In the 1st round of the state they hit a buzzer beater to beat Franklin Road Academy. Also in the 1st round CPA and Greenfield, who most people thought were the 2 best teams in 1A, were defeated in huge upsets. And it is true about the Rangers not missing a single shot in the 2nd half. That came against Temple with Caleb and Seth Skogen. Even though they didn't miss a shot, Unaka still only won by 4. But those teams in 2004, even CPA, are not nearly as good or as athletic as the teams that will be at the 1A state tourney this year. Unaka hit it perfect in the 1 year that they could win it...

Was you at the State Tournament in 2004? I think they won by 6.

  7. Hey good friend. Good to finally hear from some of you eagle fans. How's the winter been treatin' ya! I'll be glad when football finally makes its way back around. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> You have to ignore the Ranger posters on here. Unaka wins a few games and they get on here and brag about how they are going to win the tournament. Unaka is a joke. They had a streak of good luck and home cooking on their home floor. Trust me, Unaka is not a good measuring stick to how good district 1 is. Cloudland and Hampton are the measuring sticks of all athletics and acedemics around here. The Creekers just have a Pabst problem. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    Not what I've been reading.

  8. Most of us who graduated Jr. High know how to spell "alley" there partner. If you really want me to get involved I will. You folks from up in Carter County, or wherever it is you come from tend to want to live and dwell in the past. I'm sure I'm not the only one bothered by the constant rhetoric of you all telling everybody how good you "used" to be. Cosby did beat Unaka TWICE this year. Sure North Greene beat Cosby. Old24 was simply stating that Cosby had beaten Unaka TWICE and all of a sudden the talk turns to how good your district is and how bad theirs is. If you couldn't take a little good fun in jest, I apologize. God, you people kill me! /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

Jump on in, it might be fun. Who knows we just might learn something. No need to apologize. I think old24, and LordIhatebeingaJrHighCoachvader were the ones that dragged the thread back out of the archives, well old24 just commented on the thread. Just like you and I. Oh yea, thanks for the spell check, and I'm not your partner.

  9. And my dad can still beat up your dad...WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

There is a board on CoachT just for you, it's called the Jr. High Board. Try it, I think it'll be right up your ally. No thanks necessary. Enjoy!

  10. Cosby has 1 runner up in 7 appearances (that I know of) I cant go back to 1960 like you can to find those hampton glory days. We went 3 years in a row in 98 ,99, 2000.

Let me help you out, 1960 Hampton State Champions, 1974 Happy Vally State Champions, 2004 Unaka State Champions!

  11. WOW! dunked on em .....How many points did he get for that? We had a 5' 9" sophomore shut your superstar hopson down in the second half. You beat us by 7 cause it was the first game of the year and we are a very young team. Beating Clinch isn't saying much , did I mention we beat Unaka twice!

Who knows, you just might get your chance to make it three with Unaka, you never know.

  12. Who will be the next coach at Hampton? Will they handle things in the same manner as they do now? I heard that Ned Smith might be the coach. When will this be anounced?

It won't be Ned. Carp maybe. NO, things will be handled their way. IF and a BIG IF there is a change, it won't be anounced until the tournaments are over. Hill and Jr. High mom(DrEnuf) will know befor school is out. Cloudland and Elizabethton will just have to wait.

  13. Where can we start? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> Let's start with the Taliban. The whole Middle East is good at one thing: destroying each other. You see the Taliban and the Creekers have a lot in common. You guys don't have to worry about the Alliance because a house divided will never stand. Give it time and you guys will run your saviour Minton out of town and once again the creekers at the bottom of the food chain. What worries me is that Minton reminds me a lot of Ensor. The discipline and his players giving 100 percent on the court. While this is going on, Hampton and Cloudland will have to counter with extreme aggression to keep the creekers out of heart. This tournament is going to spell out a lot of things. This will go down as one of the most extreme tournaments in Carter Co. history. The talent levels at these three schools are going to boom and I feel like another state champion may emerge out of this county in the next three years unless Iran bombs Israel in 2012. Then we all might be standing together with M-16's. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

You are correct, a house divided will never stand(so called alliance), Cloudland don't like Hampton either. Was Friday a gift from Hampton to poor, poor little Cloudland? We don't worry about the so called alliance. His players give 100 percent and he has dicipline. The tournament will be a good one. If Iran bombs Isreal in 2012, that will be the only time we stand together. You are wrong, we like ALL of our Coaches, so Minton and company will be there much longer than Cloudland, Hampton, University High, and North Green will care for.

  14. I was next to the dogs lockerroom after the game last night and I've got to tell you all, I'm sad at how the Hampton fans just devoured and belittled their team after the game. With this kind of support, it really makes the players ask themselves, is it really worth suiting up? Wake up!! you all. Do you want to be Stoney Creek made over? Cloudland is a good ball club and its next to impossible to beat them on their home floor. Just look at their record since 2001. Hampton is an outstanding team with legendary coaches. Get behind them instead of all this complaining. After all, they are conference champions for the first time since 1994 and they have the most talent in this region. No player should quit over losing a meaningless game. It was just for pride and it was the Landers senior night. Ned Smith has turned Cloudland into a contender year in and year out and they have the support of all their fans. Get it together dogs!! You don't want the creekers to sneak in the back door and take our titles and laugh at our self destruction do you? Don't let it happen!!

    They won't sneak.

  15. This may be easier said than done. They have alot of talent in the sophmore class, but I can't ever really see them being better than Hampton before they graduate. When Unaka is going to be the toughest is when these 8th graders now at Hunter and Unaka come together in high school. They are going to be loaded, but so is Cloudland. Hopefully the Dawgs can keep the Rangers down for the next 2 years and the Landers can take over after that...

You are correct, it will be much easier said than done. Only time will tell if the young Rangers will be better than Hamton. The District Tournament should be a good one.

  16. I can't help but notice something that we all have dreaded to see. Could it be that the creekers have returned like the Taliban in Pakistan? After we played them at Cloudland, I was real confident that Unaka athletics had been destroyed forever. Now, the creeker boys are starting to pick up steam. I want to challenge Cloudland and Hampton to snuff out this threat and continue our domination in athletics in Carter Co.

Challenge all you want! I think that I stated in another thread that we like our Coaches, ALL of them.

  17. Good for Mike, it must be something special to get to coach with his son and long time friend Coach Brewer, especially in the County where they both grew up. Avery just made their staff really strong. Good luck to Big Mike and Little Mike. Avery rules the roost in two years, maybe right out of the gate. Pujo keep us informed.

No disrespect to Mike, but this is like a broken record. It seems like every year he's going some where new. I hope all of this is not to get the people from Hampton to beg.

  18. (2and2) 3and3 their all the same /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> But since you want to air out dirty laundry about false information on here since u seem to be the ring leader of controversy on this board. I believe you have a whole lot more scarier skeletons in your closet (TheLastWord) then you would want to be revealed.

You are what we like to call a coward in this society. You are just like every other joefan on this message board thinking you know every answer to every problem that has occured in this county from an athletic point of view.

For 1. Was you actually on the field the night that this took place against Hampton? Did you see this coach so call push an oppsing player to the ground?

    2. You keep bashing one of the "top coaches" in Kenneth Chambers and for what reason? You and the rest of your garbage men must be as dumb as I thought if you think that he wont coach at the High School level again. You just received a PHD in stupidity.

Your lack of knowledge must be the reason you got out of the ranks along time ago or should we reveal the real reason. I guess we can just take it to another board now cant we /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

So will you be making the trip to good ol North Greene tonight? /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

I don't think I ever typed that a coach "pushed a player to the ground", but you just did. I don't remember "bashing" coach Chambers, just asking questions, that you must have answered to your self. I didn't know that I was ever in "the ranks", so reveal away. Take it where ever you like. Maybe, Maybe not. "Answers", I'm free to think as I like, just like you. Who's we?(the one's calling and revealing)I know, Iknow your going to type for every poster on that one.

  19. I just think TheLastWord enjoys this as much as anyone else. Obviously he has quite some free time on his hands just like the rest of us fellow poster's on the message board. However I love how most of the topics he responds to on here is either about

A.Unaka athletics getting bashed. B. The firing/resignation of Kenneth Chambers And C. Hampton basketball.

Put two in two together and it seems like to me that you have tie's within the likes of both these schools. And you have probably coached a little bit of girls basketball and middle school football back in your day... If you catch my drift /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Ok, I'll take it back to the top for you. You did get one thing correct, "responds to" not starts. A(1),B(2), and C(3), it should be "put three and three together". Where are you drifting to? I might want to go. I heard or read something to the likes of, "typing was like a signature".(no username can cover it)
