  1. The defensive backs look like they need a lot of work.  The guys up front looked pretty good.

Expect Coach K to put a competitive team on the field this year...he's had enough time to get to that level.

Watched some of the other scrimmage clips elsewhere and was surprised that the QB play doesn't seem to  be up to par, especially with a guy in his 3rd year as a starter. Really only seemed to be one play, to one side, that he executed well.  Part of that was receivers being too timid going for the ball. Everyone in the passing game needs to step up.

  2. This thread seems to have lost it's way.  Back to the original question; what will the Warriors do this year.  When is spring practice? Scrimmages?

I know the previous coach left a mess but Coack K is entering year four, soooo..., is this the year he should be expected to put a competitive team on the field?  I thought year two was a step forward but last year was a pretty significant step backward.

I would post the schedule, it's on their web site but so small and poorly done i can't read it.

Some of us are still here.  I have not commented because I did not see the game.  I am not going in any part of Nashville unless I can take care of my personal protection.  I am too old and weak for that fighting 'stuff' anymore.  What I would have to use is the old special forces fighting stuff and that injures PERMANENTLY!

Unless I can see and offer some POSITIVE suggestions, I will remain quiet.  Or like the old days, "Put up or shut up!".

This is a rebuilding year for R'dale after we lost 22 Seniors last year.  Think though of the future with us playing mostly sophmores.  RA you have destroyed a once proud machine.  I hope you are happy skippy!

Coach K, you are building from the ground up.  Weight room work HARD even now!  After that ask about the 'snake' from Coach Fields, and run them HARD!  You will not be popular, but you will wind up with a machine again.

LOD, you've become a very mellow person.  I retired and moved to Florida  but did catch a couple games last year while in town.

Losing to E. Nashville and getting beat 35-0 in one half at the jamboree is just pretty terrible.

A healthy program should lose 20-25 seniors every year.  MidtENN, how many seniors did Oakland lose last year?

The thing that stood out in the games I watched last year (WC,CC, Blackman) was how weak the players were.  They were in position, got to the right spot, but just too weak to make the tackle. I suspect the lack of emphasis on conditioning is showing it's full effect right now.  Hopefully I'm wrong and Coach K gets this thing turned around.

I remember 2003 when CGR had a sophomore dominated team that got it all turned around by November.

Rockvale is supposed to pull from Riverdale, Blackman, and Eagleville. So Oakland could possibly have a near stranglehold on this region going forward

When Siegel opened the zones shifted and Oakland picked up a talent rich area of town from Riverdale.  At the time the discussion was whether that would shift the balance of power to Oakland.  The opening of Rockvale could shift that area of town back to Riverdale.  I'm sure the fight over zoning boundaries is pretyy intense right now.

At the end of the day all the schools will still have 1800+ students.

So if Cookeville, riverdale, and blackman all had 2 region losses with Cookeville beating blackman and loosing to riverdale . Riverdale beating cookevile but lost to blackman, would that go and if they all have the same overall record , would it go to the team who played more people with above .500 opponents ?

More interestingly, Cookeville beats Oakland and Riverdale beats Blackman.  That would (pending the outcome of other games) leave Oakland, Riverdale, and Cookeville all tied at 9-1.  Not sure how the tie-breakers would shake out but would be a cool scenario to see.

  6. Got to see Riverdale against CC last week and hope to see this game as well.  Riverdale needs to bring the defense this week as they seemed to have missed the bus against CC.  Offense was sharp and WC isn't having the year they had hoped for.  I'll say 49-21 Warriors.

  7. LOD, glad you didn't attend the game.  For sure doesn't sound like a good place to be with a bad heart. :D

Congrats to the Warriors but they need to start playing defense,  Giving up 35 points per game over the last four games and winning by pulling a horseshoe out of somewhere isn't a winning formula long term.  The horseshoe only lasts so long...ask Butch Jones and Les Miles.

Are these guys practicing over the break?

It's not too late to get better on offense, improve on defense, and just become a better team.  Team is blessed to have put together a nice record but there is a LOT of work left to do.

Who is Riverdale's DC? Coach K isn't trying to do both is he?

  8. So, is this the latest playoff pairings based on where we are right now?

    1.  Mt Juliet vs 4. Siegel/Cookeville winner.

    2.  Hendersonville vs 3. Blackman/Riverdale loser (interesting rematch)

    1. Oakland vs 4. Rossview/Lebanon loser

    2.  Riverdale/Blackman winner vs 3. Rossview/Lebanon winner

In bold are the teams I would guess right now.

Barring upsets is this basically how it should shake out? Maybe it's more complicated than that.

  9. I'd expect a low scoring game and those are often decided by special teams, turnovers,  or just one or two big plays.  Score probably 20-14, 17-10 or something similar.  Expect Riverdale to play well but losing Litaker for the year makes it less likely they can hang for 48 minutes.  Edge to Oakland but Riverdale definitely has a shot in this game if the offense can sustain a few drives and keep the defense off the field some.

Seigal will win this by  10-14 points,,, If Riverdale can't dominate right out the gates.....I think people are relating Seigal to there past.  this is a different team, Will keep you on your hills. They have D-1 talent as well that the opposition seem to forget.. They've came into the season as underdogs they have nothing to lose.,,,  REMEMBER RIVERDALE  STRUGGLED AGAINST STEWART CREEK TWICE. Played against a small East High, and caught Franklin High in a down year, This will be your first test,

    GO Warriors

The Stars sound pretty unbeatable.  Guess 10-0 is pretty much guaranteed?

  11. Good test to see how far Riverdale has come under Coach K.  If you run your QB a lot it makes sense that you have a backup plan that you have confidence in.  The rest of the guys, especially the defense, just have to take it up another level and give the young guy some time to get in his groove.

In all likelihood the offense will need to be reorganized a bit to align with the strengths of the young QB.  That may take a  couple games to get in sync.

Should be a great game.  I'll say Riverdale wins 28-21.

  12. Congrats to the Warriors for taking a tough game at a tough place to play.  Especially good to hear the team pulled together and showed some real mental toughness after Souffront went down.  Next man up...

Any confirmation on the injury?  Sounded bad.

What's the review on the backup QB...how did he do?

Riverdale has still got some building to do before they catch up to other teams in the region. Coach Kriesky has done an exemplary job, but there is only so much you can do in the time he has been HC

Hope this was just a bad outing but getting blown out by CR at home isn't a good start for year two.  I was expecting/hoping to see a lot of improvement this year.

How did Rankin do years one and two of his tenure?

  14. Saw on twitter that the weight club rankings right now were:

    Braves - 24

    Warriors - 5

    Chief - 1

That's less than half the teams and seems a little low.  Not really sure but thinking back to the Rankin years always seemed like more in the top clubs.  I could be mistaken.

LOD, does this look about right or should we be a wee bit concerned.
