  1. After visiting other school's web sites and some of the competition, below is what I've come up with.  The only place I've seen that has the complete schedule is an opposing site that begins with H and ends in L.  Pretty sure this is the schedule:

    Aug 18   East Nashville   Home
    Aug 25   Franklin             Away
    Sep 1     Siegel*              Home
    Sep 8     Spring Hill         Home
    Sep 15   Oakland*           Away
    Sep 22   Centennial         Away
    Sep 29   Cookeville*         Home
    Oct 13    Coffee County*   Away
    Oct 20    Warren County*  Away
    Oct 27    Blackman*          Home

I would post the link to the other site but pretty sure that would  be a no-no.
  2. For those dinosaurs of us who are NOT on either facebook or twitter, what does it say?

Just listing some guys qualifying for weight clubs.   A few made 'Brave'  one up to 'Warrior'.  I forget what the 3d club is but nobody was listed.

Be cool if they started getting that kind of info out on the web site again.

  3. LOD, what year would this have been?  Yes, I've been cleaning up my computer.  Really miss the days when they published those spreadsheets so you could track progress.  Accountability was more than talk back then.

NAME Number Class   WT. WT. +/- SQUAT CLEAN BENCH  TOTAL Total +/-   LB / LB Lb/Lb+/

    Skidmore, R 68 Jr 252 0 455 255 285 995 10 3.95 0.04

  4. How long does the new guy get to deliver a state championship?  If there are growing pains will the fan base be patient?

I'm intrigued by what appears to be an extremely high risk, high reward type of hire.  I'm assuming GQ had a lot of input but does the guy that actually made the hire have a track record of coaching hires?

Was he a coordinator or position coach?  Since he was a QB assuming he coached on the offensive side of the ball.  Statistically, offensive assistants have better success moving to a HC position.

Will the older assistants stay after being passed over?

Has Hunt managed people before either in the business world or as a coach?

Does Hunt have aspirations to coach at the next level?

What happens the the AD position?

  5. I'm a little confused.  What role is GQ taking with Furman?  Saw someone else announced as offensive coordinator.  Will he be a position coach or special teams coordinator?

Guys like him are very, very hard to replace.  Hope he's super successful and moves up the college coaching ranks quickly.  What an amazing record he put together.

  6. Here are some numbers that should give you some food for thought for next year. 23 seniors will be lost to graduation and 22 juniors will be moving up. The younger players will dominate the majority of the roster with 36 sophomores moving up and 35 freshman stepping up into a possible varsity roll. They should have a good foundation with a returning starting QB and running back corps. The pressure will be on the staff to improve but more than that show that they are building a program.

It's encouraging to see the large numbers in the 2017 soph/junior classes.  Need to keep those guys in the program and try to get some of the older guys back out for football.

Most importantly the off-season program needs to be stellar, and Iron Warriors need to be everywhere.  Need to make sure that accountability is returned to every aspect of the program and that there is competition for every role.

Have to quit accepting excuses on defense and special teams.  Some of these things should begin to show substantial improvement in year two.  Hope everyone is dialed in and ready to make that happen.  Actually pretty excited to see what Coach can do.

  7. Riverdale loses some key guys but should also be returning a pretty good core group.  This year the coach gets a mulligan, even though it was hard not to be disappointed at times.

The team should be better conditioned and doing some of the little things better next year (like being able to consistently kick an extra point).  If they don't contend in this slightly watered down region then definitely cause for concern.

Do they have a 2017 schedule yet:?

  8. There were flashes this year but certainly the team/coaching staff did not exceed expectations.  Not really disappointing but also nothing to claim as a huge success.  Transitions are tough and sometimes just require addition by subtraction.  Hard to get guys to buy into new approaches if they've been doing the same wrong thing for years.

    A few quick observations:

    1.  If LOD is encouraged then you know some of those attention to detail items that always plagued the team are being addressed.

    2.  This team lacked the mental toughness and leadership that better teams have.  That kind of thing shows when you can't play well two weeks in a row and can't get ready to play after a bus ride.  I suspect this will be much improved next year. Senior team leadership has to demand mental and physical toughness from the team. Coaches coach but players lead.

    3.  There is no excuse for the state of the kicking game.  That falls squarely on the shoulders of Coach Kriesky.

    4.  A lot of close games lost this year that the team should win next year if everyone gets on board.

    5.  If there are coaching deficiencies as noted in the post above CWK needs to address them ASAP.

Year two is where really good coaching starts to show. Looking forward to it!

  9. Seems both teams have been inconsistent this year with Riverdale being really hard to predict.  Both teams have been tested and have played 5 teams each that are still alive in round 2.

Riverdale's record against those five is 1-4 and HVA has posted a 3-2 record against their five.

Both team's have losses that would be considered head scratchers.

Even with a terrible game at Maryville HVA is giving up only an average of 13.5 a game with two shutouts.  Riverdale's defense, which was expected to be a team strength, has given up almost 20 points per game.

Definitely looks like the edge to HVA in this one,

  10. HVA is favored, have the higher seed,  and get to play at home.  Home is a nice place to be in the playoffs.  Hopefully having to ride past Cookeville on the way over will wake them up and get them ready to play.

Everyone has this as a bout a 3-7 point game so just takes one extra play to pull it out.

What dos HVA do best...run, pass???
