  1. TDC I want to say I saw where the land acquisition has been approved and 2019 is the goal date.

I went out and did some googling around and checking the DNJ.  Seems the plan in Rockvale is to use land that they already have at the middle school.  Also saw that the plan for opening in 2019 was approved, however, no money to implement that plan has yet been approved.

The plan has been pretty fluid as they were deciding between Buchanan and Rockvale this time last year as the location.  Then they settled on Rockvale in 2020.  Now have moved that up a year to 2019.

Pretty sure that a Rockvale school will eventually put an end to Eagleville at the HS level.  There have been some with that goal for a long, long time.

We need a good list of potential candidates for the opening (any inside knowledge of applicants would be cool):

    Coach K

    Rector

Is White still at Oakland?  He should be ready.

Would McDaniel leave the private school world

    Carson

    Who else?

  2. Sounds like we need some links to establish the fastest growing places.   Regardless, the Riverdale zone is growing fast and has a lot of new development just kicking off.

The rezoning could be interesting as The Oakland side of town is also growing quickly.  If I were to make my best guess, some the areas that Oakland took from Riverdale a few years ago could come back to Riverdale as current Riverdale zone shrinks on the Rockvale side.

Have they even set a date and started land acquisition for Rockvale HS?  I remember when we all talked about the 'new' Christiana High School that never happened.

  3. Not trying to stir anything up but doesn't Coach K have some baggage from a couple years ago?  Staying in-house would be problematic.  Is there anyone that has any experience around a winning program that was headed in a positive direction?

I like Coach K's enthusiasm, he seemed like the only one that was ever fully awake, but not sure this would be the right move with his limited experience.

  4. Hope everyone realizes that it's going to take time and the new coach is going to have to have time (at last a couple years) to build.  Pretty much every aspect of the program from facilities to S&C has been allowed to sink to rock bottom.

What Riverdale has always had is great kids, great talent, and great passion.  Whoever the new guy is will have that foundation to build on.  Seems almost impossible to bring this program back to a competitive level but it can be done by the right man.  When Rankin left Riverdale was poised to step up to an even higher level.  Great opportunity for the right coach.

Hopefully Nolan will make a great hire.

  5. It's hard to see how the program could get much worse.  Think about what the last TWO years would have been like if a Sr QB hadn't transferred in. Relying on freshmen and transfers every year just isn't what a program is supposed to be.

Hopefully, Riverdale gets a new coach that will start the rebuilding of the program.  Hopefully, the fans realize that it will take a least a couple years to be competitive again.  This program is at absolutely rock bottom in pretty much every component.

Quite a few people could see where this was headed, even as Aydelott was winning big with Rankins players. It's all the little things, all the attention to detail, the focus, the intensity, the follow-up, the coaches lost, the coaches brought in.  It will take a while to start getting all the pieces back in place.

  6. Quarles is a great coach and has a great program.  He'll make adjustments and be right back on top.  It's up to everyone else to catch up to that level of sustained excellence.

This year was little different the way the playoffs were set up and having to maintain the level of performance for more than a week or two.  When Maryville stepped up to 6A they had to adjust to the speed/athleticism at this level...and they did.  They will adjust again because that's just what they do.

Congrats to Ravenwood.  Will they be there next year...very good chance Maryville will be there waiting for them.

  7. Definitely agree with the OP on this one.  All you have to do is look at Riverdale to see the difference between a program and just yearly football teams.

Programs breed expectations. Expectations bring great effort, participation, commitment and support.  It's a synergy that just feeds itself and gets stronger.  Throw in some talent and you have a state championship favorite.  Even in the down years you're in the hunt because of the program.

  8. Nolan probably hasn't committed any offense that should get him fired at this level. Just seems that he lacks any vision, any motivation, and real dedication to making Riverdale great again.  Anyone could see that the program was in the wrong hands by about Aydelott's 3rd year.  Nolan put his friendship with Aydelott before the best interest of the school.

Riverdale has had numerous issues...girls basketball on probation, football booster funds, football player abuse that reached the point of a student attacking the coach.  I'm sure there's more.  None of those, in itself, would get a principal fired but at some point you have to look at the pattern. The assault on Aydelott goes back to a lack of judgement everywhere...Aydelott should have been long gone several years ago.  Who knows what would have happened. That kid might have been an all state DL leading Riverdale to a state championship rather than having his life ruined.

So many kids have been so badly damaged by the Nolan/Aydelott team.  Really a sad situation.

  9. I'd expect that Aydelott will be gone but he'll inflict as much damage to the program as possible before leaving.

There was a time I thought Aydelott was a decent, honorable man that was just in waaaaay over his head at Riverdale. My opinion has done a 180 degree change over the last couple years. Seriously, how many kid's futures does one guy get to destroy before someone says enough is enough?

Nolan will probably just kick back in his office 'spacing out' while Aydelott does whatever he's going to do from here. At this point, I really wish they would both leave.

  10. I'd like to see the players and the coaches go out on a high note.  Nothing would be better than taking out Oakland and it's not an impossible task.

This was supposed to be the team that was built over the last two year and could play with anybody and they were picked to be right in the mix before the season started.  It's possible...go make it happen.

Let's worry about next year once the season is over.
