  1. Having a once NFL coach have the opportunity to coach him might make him commit early. I think Tim Mcadoo is a Mid-Major talent but will get some looks from High-Major schools bc of what he's done this season. Does smith play specifically DL? Or does he play a little TE also?

Plays TE as well, not the whole game though, at least the games I've seen. Don't know how regularly he does for sure.

  2. Whoever it was(wasn't me)was wrong. Smith is a true talent and will be a heck of a college player. Do u think he will sign to Tennessee now that Lane Kiffin will be the new coach?

It sure would be nice if he did. It's always too early too tell with recruiting, especially at this time for juniors, because he'll be hearing it from every end of the spectrum, it will be interesting to see how the negative recruiting of TN pans out now. All indications before was that he was leaning that way, but theres over a year til LOI day 2010

  3. Which Oakland fan was it that doubted that Jacques Smith was the best junior in the state and/or wasn't hearing anything from big time schools. Well that's false, he's got interest from Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Wake Forest, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Oregon, UCLA, along with a host of others. Hardly a scrub.

  4. Learn to spell before you take issue with my Patriot brethren.

Minus the slang internet terms (which you can't really say whether those are spelled right/wrong) there isn't anything misspelled in her post. It is grammatically incorrect, because when isn't a verb, but it is spelled correct.

  5. Imaowl has been on ever thread around spreading his garbage. What goes around comes around.

Besides that I think you are a cocky bunch and have been lucky that there is not really

    any good teams in 5AAA this year.I guess you could say I am an OWL hater. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

Ooltewah doesn't play in Regoin 5-3A, they play in Region 2-5a, get it right.

  6. Friday is and always will be the time High School football is played in Tennessee, it's a tradition.

Nothing against girls soccer but high school football brings in just alittle more money than girls soccer so play the game at a time where most people will attend (Friday, Saturday)

Soccer is played 7 different days a week, along with basketball, baseball, volleyball, golf, cross country, track, wrestling, bowling, lacrosse, hockey etc.

Wait a minute, I thought this was about the families? Now it's about money? Make up your mind.

  7. smartest thing ive seen on here. if Farragut lines up in the I and plays power football likes we've seen at times this year they can (with the best) then they should be on the field longer and keep their defense off of it. control the clock, keep Ooltewah's RB off the field and you have a chance to win. and if you dont think Farragut can win this game at all, you're stupid. montre is back for Farragut so now we have 3 strong running backs to pound Ooltewah's defense with. this game will rest on the legs on D' Andre Purty, Montre Hudson, and Chris Bass. Also, Farragut's Austin Bolen and Alex Encarnacion will have a big impact on this game. With that said if they play like they know how i like Farragut close.

    Farragut- 13

    Ooltewah- 10

You don't want to "pound" Ooltewah's D, that is playing to their strength on D. To beat them you have to toss it all over the field and try to spread everything out. Pounding it up the middle is just asking for Ooltewah to stuff you.

  8. Well I guess since you and I am a Owl think so I guess he can always go to Chatt. State. You answered the half the question like a figured you would since you have a problem with this subject, if he is the best in the region then what does that say for the rest of them ??????????????

What do you mean what does that say for the rest of them? He may very well be the best in the region, but who's to say that this region is supposed to send all of their qb's to college every year, I can't think of too many that actually have gone in recent years, and that's at every position. Yes there have been a few, but not as many as you seem to think should be produced. I'm not a huge fan of either elite region 2 qb's as college prospects (I like Parrot a lot more than Farragut's QB) even though the general consensus by a lot of people that Farragut's qb is one of the best in the state, I just didn't see it. That is MY opinion, I'm sorry if it doesn't line up exactly with yours.

  9. Sound like you think region 2 5a football is down this year with in your opinion the best QB in that region not college material. Better yet I do not know if you played college football or not maybe you did but i think you should reveiw the tape or ask for a second opinion some of the throws were the long outs thrown from the opposite hashmarks. In my opinion either you don't like Soddy , your jealous , or you do not like the kid in question cause you do not throw for that many yards & td's in the largest region in this state and have a weak arm.

Haha ImaOwl definitely knows what he's talking about, and he played college ball as well so I'd trust him. Just because you get a ton of yards and td's doesn't mean you are a college quarterback. He has the size that's for sure, but I agree with Ima, he doesn't have the zip you see in most college quarterbacks. Also depends on where you seeing him play in college, yes there are some schools he could easily go to, but not the ones Soddy fans seem to think. That being said, kid still had a great year.

  10. I have destroyed this argument so many times that it has grown boring, but you are walking into it, so learn.

Bottom line, who was the best football team in January? Nebraska went up 42-7 at the half on Baylor and pulled the dogs off...whatever. Michigan played Colorado at home and got after them good. No rivalry, just an early season home game. Colorado played Nebraska in Boulder on the last Friday of the season in the biggest rivalry game they had in front of a frenzied crowd....quite a difference. Michigan needed some rallies of their own to get by perennial juggernaut Iowa in a come-from-behind thriller. Iowa?

As for Michigan's schedule....THEY PLAYED IN THE BIG TEN!!! Think that's just hype? Try the Big 10 being 2 and 5 in Bowl games that year! Try Michigan rushing for all of 43 yards against mighty Ohio State (at Michigan mind you!) and winning by 6 points shortly before Florida State trashed them in the Sugar Bowl. Try Michigan rallying by a mediocre Washington State (Washington State?) team by 5 points in the Rose Bowl. WSU was led by NFL superstar and future Hall of Famer Ryan Leaf. Meanwhile, Nebraska broke open a close game at the half and blasted a loaded Tennessee team 42-17. They ran the ball for 340 yards in the 2nd half alone! Tennessee had Peyton Manning, Jamal Lewis, Al Wilson, Peerless Price, and Al Wilson just to name a few. Michigan never saw an offensive attack like that of the ferocious Cornhuskers. They were there before Michigan, and they were there after. They left bodies on stretchers. The Vegas odds makers had it right when they immediately installed Nebraska as 7.5 favorites if they were to play Michigan. That's why the coaches voted as they did, and that's why the Sears trophy went to Lincoln for the 3rd time in 4 years.

You are so hypocritical with all of your arguments it is just dumb. You talk about a rivalry game for Nebraska with Colorado (which that shouldn't even matter b/c it's Colorado) and then you dog on Michigan b/c they only had 43 yards rushing against Ohio State which is a much, much (add however many much's you need b/c it is the biggest rivalry in sports) bigger rivalry game than that. Then you go on to say it is no big deal playing WSU with Leaf because he was crap in the NFL, and you list Peerless Price for UT's "loaded" team who also didn't do crap in the NFL, why the double standard? Personally it doesn't matter to me what a player has done in the NFL, a great college player is a great college player, and they both were. Michigan may have squeaked a couple games, as did Nebraska, but at least they did win one of those squeakers on a play that shouldn't have counted.

  11. Ok, I'll say this and if anyone still disagrees with me, then you obviously just want argue and don't want logic.

In 2002 there was a player very similar to the '97 Charles Woodson. Chris Gamble from Ohio State.

Gamble, like Woodson, started at Cornerback and returned punts. Gamble started 5 games at WR as well, and worked frequently in OSU's offensive sets. Gamble was a legitmate offensive player, unlike Woodson who was a speciality guy. Gamble and Woodson were both effective return men. Gamble had 4 picks and 1 TD. Woodson had 8. Woodson was probably a notch above Gamble as a defender, which would make up for the fact that Gamble was a consistant offensive player.

The difference? Woodson won the Heisman and Gamble didn't. Both teams were Nat'l Champs, so that aspect is a tie. Gamble was a big playmaker for OSU, and ESPN loved to talk about his versitility. He was properly recognized for his achievments in 2002. He was 1st team Big 10 All-American and 3rd team National All-American and was co-team MVP. Gamble was a first round pick in the draft, as well. My point is, Gamble was a premiere, versatile player back in 2002, but no one ever mentioned anything about the Heisman. That's the way it should have been for Woodson. Woodson deserved high praise, and All-American honors but should have never been seriously considered for the Heisman. Remember how good Gamble was? The guy would play almost every snap for OSU, which is amazing. That's more versatility than even Woodson could brag about.

Woodson's '97 season and Gamble's '02 season are remarkably similar. Woodson had an edge as a defender but Gamble had the edge as an offensive player. All things considered, their seasons nearly mirrored each other, right down to each team's success. What made Woodson a Heisman winner and Gamble simply an All-American? Unless you have a bias towards Michigan or something, I highly doubt you can argue with anything I said. If Gamble's season wasn't just like Woodson's, then I don't know what was. Woodson, as great as he was, should have ended up more like Gamble. High praises and plenty of accolades, but just not the Heisman trophy.

Comparing Woodson and Gamble is absolutely ridiculous, besides the fact that the played offense, defense, and special teams, there aren't many similarities because Woodson had a much more profound impact on his team and was THE difference maker in them winning a NC or being a mediocre team. Woodson was UM's Peyton Manning that year (he even pulled his best Manning impression on a 30 yard pass, that was stopped a half yard shy of him adding a passing TD to his stats that year), as in he was who carried the team. Here's his reel from his heisman season, it shows everything he did and why it had an such an impact:

Most fans down here argue until they are numb in the face about Peyton vs. Woodson, yet most of them when it comes down to it, didn't even actually watch a game that he played in his college career (outside of sportscenter highlights). This play right here singlehandedly would win the heisman for anyone, and comparing Gamble to Woodson is an insult to Charles.

  12. First of all, Charles Woodson isn't even the best CB of the 1998 class let alone the best player overall. Patrick Surtain, Samari Rolle, and Duane Starks were all drafted AFTER Charles Woodson that year. I would expect the CB who wins the Heisman to be....I don't know.....perhaps the BEST CB THAT HAS EVER PLAYED or something, but that honor goes to Deion Sanders in my opinion.

Now, as for the postion argument: the Heisman trophy is supposed to go to the "Most outstanding college football player" in the country. However, the day you see a lineman or punter win the award is the day you can honestly make such a claim. Until Tim Tebow's sophomore campaign last year, the Heisman was awarded to the most outstanding Senior or Junior QB or RB (exceptions being Tim Brown & Desmond Howard at WR). I use the prime example of Adrian Peterson's freshman campaign as the ultimate show of bias against young players. In my eyes, the Heisman trophy is slighty more of an honor than a team winning the BCS national TITLE.

For argument sake in this particular matter:

    Charles Woodson (1997)- offense: 11 recs 231 yds 2 TD; 3 carries (2 of 3 =-18 yards) 15 yards 1 TD

    - defense: 42 tackles (4 for loss) 1 sack, 7 INT

    Peyton Manning (1997)- 287-477 60.4% 3819 yds 37 TD 11 INT

I think Woodson won the 1997 Heisman largely on a single game against Ohio State where he returned a punt 78 yards for a TD and intercepted a pass in the endzone to prevent a TD. Basically, it would appear that Woodson's versatility won the trophy for him, at least that is my perspective.

Again ignorance with regards to Woodson. His rookie year he was the Defensive Rookie of the Year (with the likes of your 3 that are "better" than him) and then went on to three straight All-Pro seasons (Surtain only has 2, Rolle one) and then battled injuries for the next few years and hardly saw the field for any consistent amount of time. Then 2006 he finally gets healthy again, and guess what, he leads the NFL in interceptions. He is easily the best of the 3 other cb's you mentioned in that draft.

  13. I 'think' he was referring to the University of Miami, Hurricanes and last time I looked at a map they were about as far South as you can get and still be on mainland Fla. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

Also you might want to look at Penn States record against the Tn Volunteers under the Great Pumpkin! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

I know, that is what I was referring to, it is located in the south on the map, but it is not a "southern" area. The accents coming out of Miami are completely that of the north. All those people going down that way to retire and what not.

  14. I won't respond to the blather about jobs, etc., because you've done a good enough job on your own expressing ignorance. However, since this IS a football board, while you're slamming the South, digest this. The National Championship of college football LIVES in the South. For the last 30 years we have dominated the National Title landscape. 2/3 of the time we win it, and when we don't win it, we almost always at least play for it. Rubbing Ohio State's nose in the manure is a way of life down here (try 9 and 0 all time!). We play for titles, the Big 10 plays in the Capital One Bowl. When the rare opportunity comes for the Big 10 to appear in the title game, they get embarrassed. You won 1/2 a title with Michigan (when Nebraska was clearly better), and you "won" a title with Ohio State when an official threw a flag 4 seconds after the game had ended and the Miami celebration was in full force.

So, please, take the nasal twang, take the cynical outlook, take the big 10 stinks and I know it frustration, take the language that routinely drops G#@ D$%n's and F bombs, and drag it back up to whatever yankee h#ll hole you crawled out of. Oh, by the way, M.B.A 24 Cincinnati Moeller 6!!

You are clearly ignorant on the part of Michigan and their 1/2 championship in saying Nebraska was clearly better. That couldn't be further from the truth. They needed an illegal play to beat Missouri as the clock ran out, and common opponents, they beat Baylor by the about same score while Michigan beat Colorado by 35 instead of just 3 for Nebraska. Michigan played 5 ranked teams while Nebraska played 6, however Michigan played 4 teams ranked in the top 10 at the time they played them, and overall Michigan's schedule was much tougher since their schedule didn't include Akron or Iowa State, Baylor was the easiest team on Michigan's schedule but that is a wash since Nebraska played as well. And who really cares what Ohio States record against the SEC is (0-9, ok I admit seeing that) but Michigan is 20-5-1 against the SEC so your point proves your point. And Miami can hardly be considered in the south besides location of the city/school, that is more northern than Ohio State or Michigan (which are actually in the Midwest, not the North)

  15. Bradley Central 32 William Blount 18

told you the Bears were for real this year. Oh yeah we are somewhat fast on offense ...wait did i already say that LOL.

anyways yes bring on Mcminn Co!!!! I promise you win or lose Da Bears will be ready for some football.

As for William blount their biggest weakness is being to slow of Defense.

How does beating a team with no wins make you for real? That is all.
