  1. Some observations, Clarence Mathis from Antioch will be at 126. Klingensmith of Ravenwood was around 150 at Antioch preseason. Avery Martin of MLK looked good, he defeated Richard at Antioch, was 1 min pds, but he looked pretty good. Ravenwood seems to have a logjam between 138-160, with several good wrestlers around the same weight. Season is here!!!!!

  2. That may be assuming Antioch doesn't win on Friday. If they do, they are district champs, which bumps their seed higher. From what I hear, it is a longshot for Henry Co. to win their district. But you are right, it is a BEAR of a quad.

  3. Who exactly has either team beat?? Or even played that are considered good teams? Not to mention the fact that the district they are in is terrible..

That is all well and good, but let's see; Antioch outside of the district has beaten Station Camp and Lavergne. Cane Ridge beat ravenwood and Pearl-Cohn. Like Milo said, both struggled against the same schedule from last season, so they must be doing something. Give credit where it is due. Would you say D-12 is as bad as say D6AAA with Cookeville, and the other bottom feeders?

  4. Once again Metro has been down, but it looks like the best football is being played off of Exit 62 on I-24. Defending District 12 AAA champ Antioch and the little brother down the street, Cane Ridge, both only have one loss on the season. If CR can survive Hillwood, they will make their 1st playoff apperance in school history. Antioch must navigate Hunters Lane, and then Overton, and what we are looking at is a showdown in Antioch for the district title. IMO, and it is my opinion, Cane Ridge is having a great season, but will not defeat Da Bears. I have seen both play, and Antioch will be a little to physical for the Ravens. CR is a finesse team, and no mistaken, what they are doing is working. But as we know in a rivalry game, emotions and bragging rights will be flying. I think Antioch comes into the "Nest" and wears down a pretty good CR team. Another difference in the game will also be the coaching. Parks is doing a good job, but who wouldn't with the talent that has been at CR. We just see that Mr. Abner was not that good of a coach(I said what a lot of you were scared to say). Woodward is one of the best game planners, and he will have one heck of a game plan in store for the Ravens. Looking forward to this showdown on October 26. Hopefully both will stay on the path to it.

  5. 106- Pelky

    120- Allen

126- Overton (think he missed state last year but has qualified before last year)

    145- Wilson

    160- Scara

195- Venuti missed qualifying last year but was ranked in the top 5 all year was up 13 when got caught and pinned by the Antioch 95 who made the semis.

So that's 5 returning qualifiers with 1 who didn't but was capable of placing.

  6. Milo, Antioch started pretty good in the mid 2000's when McPhail was coach and Coker and Brown were running around the backfield. Started 4-0 twice. My opinion on SC game. Antioch dominated the 2nd half. The same thing they did to Lavergne. Have to give Coach Woodward praise for making the adjustments and having his guys in the condition necessary o wear down opponents. The D line took it to SC in the 2nd half. AntiochKs QB is also a 10th grader, but manages the system.

  7. Mr. Grizzly. Can it be said that Antioch was just better than LaVergne on Friday. "If the zoned kids would stay instead of going to Ensworth and BA" crap is old. We have been dealing with that at Antioch for years. Take a look at BA's roster, and I will guarantee you about 30% of the team lives, has lived, or grew up in Antioch. You play with what you have. LaVergne has just not been that good recently. Then to talk about the school as being worst than the worst Metro school. Who do you think goes to the school, the kids there are not homegrown. When you can get in a house for $300, who do you believe is the student body?????
