  1. Jessica Bobbit is a very good player don't get me wrong. However there is a girl from Clarkrange, by the name of Snow. Have ya heard of her? I have seen both of these players play and don't get me wrong Bobbit is an excellent post. But she doesn't demand the defensive attention that Snow does. Snow requires 2 sometimes 3 defenders to keep her at her normal 15 to 20 points a game. Bobbit doesn't quite have the moves to get by 2 defenders and still put it in like Snow does. Snow seems a little quicker and more versatile that Bobbit also. However, I'm sure any coach in the state of TN would love to have Bobbit on the court. Just my opinion. Would love to see these two square off in the Championship Saturday.

  2. I also predicted it to be a close game. But two things happened I didn't count on. Clarkrange knocked down the 3 ball better than they have all year. And Unaka seemed to give up when their big girl got 3 fouls and went to the bench in the first half. Those two teams don't match up well in Unaka's favor. Unaka doesn't seem to be as quick as a team needs to be to defend Clarkrange. A team has to have the ability to collapse on Snow and run at the shooters efficiently. Unaka didn't seem to have that quickness. Offensively Unaka has the ability to hang with Clarkrange they just didn't have the fire after that first quarter. But they're returning everyone next year, this experience may pay off next year. Good luck to the Buffaloes.

  3. htown hope this helps,

Clarkrange is a very good team. They are anchored by 6' Michelle Snow (Miss Basketball Finalist). She is where all their offense comes from. Teams have to double and even triple team her sometimes to keep her under control. She will still get her usual 15 to 20 despite these efforts. If you try to guard her straight up she will most likely go off for about 30 or so points. The only problem with Clarkrange is their inconsistent outside shooting. They were on yesterday tying a state tournament record connecting on 10 3-point attempts. But when they're cold they're cold. That's what the entire game hinges on. Upchurch, Ramsey, and the rest have to shoot well to win. If they shoot the 3 good they'll win, if they don't they won't. That's been the story all year. Yesterday they were the best team in the state. Some days (when the 3 doesn't go down) they're not.

  4. Don't know a whole lot about CPA. But from what I understand they're incredible. Rockwood has about 10 good basketball players. That's their strength the depth and spread talent. There isn't one player to stop. Don't know how many people CPA plays. But if Rockwood can press them and stay close till the 4th then maybe they can run them into the ground with their depth. But that's the key STAY CLOSE.

  5. Peabody was on cruise control against Cosby after the first 3 minutes. They'll be in overdrive against Perry Co. Peabody by 10. Clarkrange and Hundington should be a great game. The entire game depends on if Clarkrange's outside shooters can knock down the 3 like they did against Unaka. Snow will get her usual 15 to 20. Look for the Lady Buff's to knock down just enough triples. Clarkrange by 1.
  6. Yes you can take a player out, play with four, and then put them back in. Now as for what Big Reno is taking about I'm not sure. I have refereed for a while now but never been faced with that rule. I was under the impression that you can play with 1 as long as u started with 5. It is possible that the referees stopped the game in that situation for another reason. But as I said before I'm not sure.

  7. I don't know how anyone could think this is going to be a blowout. I'm not a fan of either team. I think it will be the best game of the first round. Possibly the most evenly matched game of the whole tournament. I do think tournament tradition will prevail tough. Both teams haven't been to the Boro recently. But the glare will last a little longer in Unaka's eyes. Clarkrange will win in a close one by the slimmest of margins.

  8. Cosby has 2 excellent players. Coggins is an excellent guard. She can drive to the hole and will hit some very deep threes. They also have one post player who has very smooth moves and works hard. Both of them are capable of 25 + points a night every night. However, after that their offensive firepower drops considerably. Haven't seen Peabody play so can't say for sure but I expect Peabody to win comfortably if they can keep Coggins in check. However, if they don't get out on her look for a close ballgame and a lot of long range 3's.
  9. I don't argue about referees. I don't always think they do a great job but I don't bash them. I personally thought she walked all 4 times. That call should be called about 30 times a game. People move their pivot foot all the time before they put the ball on the floor starting to drive. Oneida played well. I just thought Wartburg wanted it more. Didn't think the referees had anything to do with the game.

  10. Really if a team wants to hold the ball and you let them then your team is slowing the game down by not doing anything about it. Get out there and play a little defense if you want the ball back. And I don't think coaches nor players are interested in if the fans have a good time or not. It's about winning and advancing to the next round. And if I were a coach and holding the ball is what needed to be done I'd do it. The defense can change my mind by getting after it and hustling.

  11. Huh? Were you watching the same game I was?????? Yes Wartburgs big girls will bang. But come on Oneida's girls defensive game is bodying you. Their guards saddle you before pregame and ride you all the way down the floor all night long. And compliments to them and the coaching staff for doing it. It works for them they play 10 players so they can afford a few fouls and the refs usually get tired of calling it after 1 or 2 and let it go. Yes there were a few bad calls both ways but I can't see that Oneida got a bad deal. Oneida played their hearts out. Job well done they had a fine season. Anytime you win this district's title you had a good year. But I can't see how anyone could think the referees called in Wartburg's favor.

  12. It is the exact same way in Region 2. Rockwood hosted the District and Regional Tournaments this year. Some people may think it isn't fair. But the games still have to be played. The goals are still 10 ft. high. People put too much bearing on things that really don't matter. What matters is who scores more points. That means you win. Besides teams take turns hosting the regional and district tournaments every year. It was Hancock's turn.

  13. This should be a great game. These teams seem to be very similar. The major difference is Cosby is deep at the guard position and Wartburg has more depth at the post position. If Wartburg's terrific trio down low can get Cosby's big girl into foul trouble Wartburg will cruise. I'm also interested who will prevail in the Jeffers Coggins match-up. Wartburg expended a lot of energy and emotion last night against Oneida. Tends to be a let down after games like that. However, the Legend will find a way to keep the let down to a minimum. Wartburg by 5.

  14. Cosby has too much firepower for Oneida. Cosby by 8. Rockwood's depth, defense, and home court advantage will be difficult for Harriman to handle. Rockwood by 3. As for the girls championship it should be an awesome battle down low between Cosby's big girl and McGee, Howard, and Cook from Wartburg. Those 4 will be beating and banging all night down low. Also interested to see the Coggins and Jeffers matchup. If Wartburg's 3 big girls can take it at the post from Cosby and get her in foul trouble then Wartburg will cruise. However, Wartburg expended a lot of energy and emotion last night on Oneida. But the Legend will keep the let down to a minium. Wartburg by 5.
