  1. bigymca, what magic are you talking about. Clarksville magic have a couple of teams this year. Clarksville should be pretty strong in a couple of age divisions. I know 12u are suppose to be strong, as well as a couple of other young teams. I don't know about most of the older teams. Most of the older athletes in clarksville go to nashville AAU teams. I don't really know why though. if they stuck around Clarksville would be a strong competator at all ages. Just my opinion though.
  2. who are some of the expected to be top teams in the 14u age group around the nashville and memphis area?
  3. eaglefan, the press is designed to get a lead or to catch up to an opponent by pressuring the ball. honestly let me ask you what is the point in putting pressure on the ball with a 37 point lead. the press has already served it's purpose. Also i'm glad you said he only dressed 10 players, but if my memory serves me correctly 15 is the max. number you can have on your bench. why not dress some of the underclassmen to get some varsity experience. If you ask why that's rediculous, he knew they were down this year esspecially being as they are in the same district. Obviously his team was not playing sloppy or they wouldn't have been up 37-0, so why would you worry about it carrying over to the next game. In my honest opinion, people can try to defend what he did as much as they want to, i don't know the coach he may be the nicest guy in the world i couldn't tell you, however i can tell you that what he did that night was classless
  4. I'm sorry this is a little bit off topic, but i'm getting frusterated. This is the second or third post i've read tonight like the one Jimmy Chitwood posted about to stop talking about the certain subject. Well, first of all that's what these forums are for to talk about things. the subject is basketball related so i don't see the problem. if the question was should eighth grade football players be able to come up i could understand the complaint. However, you knew the topic the fist time you came in here and if you didn't you surely knew it the second time around. My advice to anyone who thinks that a thread is not needed, well stop reading it, and let these people talk about what they want. But back to the TOPIC at hand. I don't think it is a good idea to bring 8th graders up early. There are some very gifted atheletes out there who could play with upperclassmen, yet their mentality and maturity is not there yet. There is alot of learning that a kid will do going through middle school. That is why you see teams that do not have a very good feeder program not to be good on a consistant basis.
  5. Whether he took them out at the end of the first quarter or the end of the game, it sounds like he should have taken them out at the end of the third min. No offense to Carter, but come on 37-0. still pressing, that's uncalled for. i am going to have to agree with devil fanatic that's classless. sweetee i understand your defending your coach, but honestly turn the tables and what would you think about the other coach if you were on the losing end. Coach moore would have to have known that carter was down this year. and i'm sure he knew it wouldnt' be much of a contest. so he should have taken this chance to dress some of his underclassmen and let them work on some things, and get the feel for a varsity games intensity after a comfortable lead was made. build for the future not for the moment. that wouldn't even be fun to coach a game where i was winning by 75. though i don't know coach moore, it's pretty obvious that he was trying to do nothing more than humiliate the opposing coach. There's my 2 cents, A.g
  6. orella fuller from rossview high school can dunk. she is not consistant about it, but she has done it before. she is one of the best athletes in clarksville. if not the best, and she can do it all. shoot, pass, dribble, and has awesome def.
  7. hotboii, you say orella fuller has a bad attitude, true it's not the greatest, but she can flat out play the game. but what i don't understand is you talk about orella and not say a word about patrice wade, or keasha brown. both of them have the potential to be one of the top players but those two have horrible attitudes as well. patrice wade is one of the most uncoachable kids in clarksville. and i really don't think that nickleson should be on that list. she's quick and a decent defesive player but she really doesn't have very much scoring potential. as far as orella goes, she is probably one of the least fundamentally sound players in clarksville, but as far as athleticism goes.. by far the best in clarksville. she has the potential to score 20+ with out even thinking about it. the district will be between rossview and north east. Just my two cents...
  8. Northeast is going to be pretty competative this year. their biggest wepon is the pressure they put on you. when you play them make sure your pressbreaker is down. Coach Martin loves to get after you quick. Watch out for their big girl, April Thomas, she's their scorer, and well used. they do not have any real threats from the outside. Not a very strong offensive team in my opinion, however an excellent defensive team. if you can shut down thomas and break their press you'll be fine.
  9. Splains, I am from Clarksville. The tournament will be held on the campus of Austin Peay. I sent an e-mail to you that should explain it all. If it didn't let me know and i will be happy to tell you whatever else it is you might want to know.. A.g

  11. I need to know a way to get in contact with some coaches for 11-13u boys for a tournament that is coming up. If anyone may know of a coach that might be interested, please let me know or put them in contact with me at coachag_1137@hotmail.com. The tournament is the last weekend in June. So if we could get this taken care of as soon as possible it would be great.. Thanks, Coach A.g
  12. AERoadrunners, to answer the first question, anyone is welcome to come and compete in our tournament. We are not going to limit it to one impaticular league. Secondly, the deadline is going to be June 23rd. So we will be able to get the schedule made and sent out in time so everyone will know when their first game is. We have a few 13's showing interest, so remember this year there is going to be a limit on how many teams can compete. We are only allowing 8 teams, and you will be guaranteed 3 games of pool, plus championship games if your team advances. If you choose to pay when you show up, that is not a problem. But what we will ask of you is that you send a check in the mail just to reserve/guarantee your spot in the tournament, and when you arrive you can pay cash and get your check back... Coach A.g

  15. i am going to have to agree with what devil fanatic said about what can you do, when everyone around knows that a team is playing with older players except for the people who really can do anything about it. i guess you just have to roll with the punches and do you best, but as a coach it is very frusterating to know you team is out there playing there best against guys 2 and 3 years older than they are. i mean really what are we teaching these kids anyway, it's ok to cheat as long as you get away with it, and if not then hey don't worry about it "we'll do better job next year." i know this league is for experience and and all but any real coach will tell you there is alot more about coaching than teaching your kids how to put a ball through the hoop, and not cross your feet on def. and i know nothing can really be done about it. but it is also taking place in the 13u. one of the best so called teams, but i have a question, what does that say about your coaching abilities if you have you bring your kids down 2 or 3 age levels in order to compete.
  16. Does anyone know of any 13u tourney coming up in the near future? if so could you let me know. thanks
