2. This is gonna be a great game. I hope that I can come to it. Milan being at home should help the Bulldogs.

I hope to be there also and I will be pulling for the Bulldogs. Represent Region 8AA well and end their streak. I know that people here in Trenton , Huntingdon as well as Milan remember the last three semi-final games. Goldentide79 is behind you.

4. Outstanding game on both sides. Both teams gave it their all and laid it on the line. It was a wonderful game to watch and I thank you for that. The true losers are the fans by the TSSAA by making these two good teams play in the first round as well as some others in the 2A playoffs. The Westview kids have a lot of class and are very well coached as are the Peabody Kids. Good luck to the Westview seniors and to the Golden Tide through out the remainder of the playoffs.

5. They have three guys that did that this year. A snare drummer, trumpet player and one other one. Those guys never got a break!

Kids should be able to participate in as many school activities as they want. At Peabody they have a faculity and staff that works really well together and not act like one program is more important than the other. They are for the kids doing something positive and the more the better. At what point in a persons life can one do so much? It is now while they are in high school. Peabody has a great school and the support from the town shows it in all activities. This is a great town and our kids give something back every time they perform either in football, band or any other activity. No loser can do this type stuff. The city of Trenton is very proud of what our kids have done to this point of the school year. The football team had a good year, the band is always great, and the girls soccer team played well. Keep it up young people. We love watching you doing good things for our community.

6. I know for a fact that Coach Scott from Peabody is concerned when a player goes down on anyones team. I was with him when he called one of the coaches on Saturday about the Sellers kid from Huntingdon and saw him at the emergency room Monday night after a JV game with another Huntingdon kid that got hurt. He is not just about X's and O's he cares about the kids that represent their school in a positive way. Good luck this week against Dresden.

7. I haven't been to an away game for the Mustangs since I was in HS, back in the 80's but I am so very proud of the team, it's coaching staff; especially Jimmy Pritchard, and most of all the area I will always call home, HUNTINGDON! I will be making a nearly 300 mile trek to witness this team for myself, and I also want to extend my thanks to all the other west TN folks that have offered these good young men, and coaches their heartfelt best wishes. Let us just all make it to Madison and back to our homes in good order, and may the best team win.

Good luck from the Peabody Golden Tide. You are a class act and will represent Region 7AA well. Wish I could be there.

8. Alright gcounty5 I got your info (I think) This is put together by looking at the media guide and trying to recollect BUT is not 100% guaranteed for accuracy.

2004 Region 6 2a Champs-Lost to Alcoa in State Championship game

2003 Region 6 2a Champs- STATE CHAMPIONS

2002 Region 6 2a Champs- Lost in 1st round to Fairview

2001 Runner-up -Lost in 1st round to Harpeth

2000 Region runner-up to Union City- Lost 4th round to UC

1999 3rd Region- Lost to Goodpasture in State Championship game

1998 Region 7 2a Champs- Lost 3rd round to Milan

1997 4th Region- Lost 4th round to UC

1996 Region runner-up to Westview- Lost 4th round to Goodpasture

1995 4th Region- Lost in 2nd round to Lewis County

1994 Region runner-up- Lost in 2nd round to David Lipscomb

1993 4th Region- Lost in 1st round to Memphis Briarcrest

Huntingdon won the region in 1996. Huntingdon, Peabody and Westview all had 6-1 region records that year. Huntingdon was first because of the tiebreaker. Westview only played 9 games that year. Huntingdon beat Peabody 14-12 in week 2 in one of the best high school games I had ever seen.

9. I heard the field was in terrible shape....that it has alot of dirt and rough spots....I dont believe the field is located at the school, if I remember correctly.

The game is at Whitehaven. The field isn't in as bad of shape as it has been in the past. The field has good grass outside the hashes but some dirt spots in the middle. The stadium is in good shape with plenty seats for everyone that wants to go. Carver's quarterback is the real deal and must be a great student because some Ivy League schools are interested in him. They are a very classy group with the coaches showing the leadership. Good luck to Huntingdon and region 7AA. Donald, Snyder, Weathers and the defense will do a great job under the instruction of Mike Mansfield, Jimmy Pritchard and company.

10. Not to be nit-picky or anything, but I think there will be several teams surprised by this "very down Halls team" this year.  Their 1-3 record doesn't do them justice.  They opened with road games at two vastly improved teams:  Jo Byrns (3-0) and Gibson County (3-1).  Halls demolished Middleton by 40 and played a great defensive game against Peabody.  The Tigers play one of the harder non-region schedules for a Class A team:  Jo Byrns, GC, Peabody, Lake County and Dyer County.  I actually think Halls has a very good chance at hosting a playoff game this year.  But first things first:  TCA on Friday.

Good luck to Peabody!!!  Fields is a stud when he gets out in the open!!!  And the FB, Holt, was pretty fun to watch the other night.  He isn't your prototypical FB because he isn't as big, but he makes up for that with his speed.

I agree, Halls has a very good football team. Good luck to you.

11. Which games are you most exicited to see this approaching season?

Any game in Region 7AA.  It is a very tough region and all games should be exciting.

Mine personally, being a WH fan, is WH-Pearl-Cohn, mostly because the winner of that game will more than likely face Fulton.

What are some others?

12. I just want to thank the Peabody Lady Tide and Tidemen for a great run during the post season. This was a dream year for basketball. We all have less money in our pockets, gasoline, hotel rooms, meals, etc.., but it was worth it. For you seniors, J. Bobbit, D. Barnett, J Simpson, C. Cox, N. Doaks, and J. Champion, good luck in what life has for you in the future. For the returners, keep working hard and lets make another run next year.

13. Hats of to Coach Tere Lumley and the Peabody Lady Tide Basketball team. We all knew that you had talent but it takes a special person to guide them in the right direction. You did a great job. JCM, your loss is our gain. We got a double bonus though, we also got her husband, Todd, as a Freshman football and Varsity baseball coach. Thank you JCM.

14. "In soccer all you have to do is chase a ball around and kick it." Even though the the wall's statement was blatently a stereotype, goldentide79's statement was as well. If you were to play the sport which seems obviously so easy in your mind, you'd find out differently. Sure, you can go out there and go "chase the ball." But this "bubble bee" soccer, played mostly by ages 4-10, is outclassed by the idea of shape or formation. With this formation, space is more efficiently used and the team begins to let the "ball do the work" instead of absent mindingly "chasing the ball." While football allows time in between plays, soccer is always changing, always moving, and that is why I believe so many people find the sport to be eloquent and beautiful. Now don't believe me to be overally bias. I myself have played both. Football is also a game of beauty. Instead of flowing movement, it takes "hours in the trenchs", "blood, sweat, and tears", and a considerable amount of preperation. It truelly is a sort of physicall chess game, each team trying to out manuever the other on each play. However, I strongly disagree with the notion that soccer is a mere sport of "kicking the ball around." The intellect needed to be able to quickly process information as a ball is coming to you is an aquired skill. Just as pass catching/throwing is in football. Each sport has its respective skills. Each sport has its respective beauties. Instead of essentially trying to "out do" each side of the arguement, I think people can appreciate both games for the amount of time neccessary to become profiecient in both. Trust me, alot else happens in soccer other than people just "chasing the ball around and kicking it." If it were that simple, I'd have alot more success to my name. Likewise, football is simply not a game of dumb guys running into each other. Anyone whos played football would know otherwise. Its a game of speed, technique, and just simply outworking the other player and their team. Instead of argueing and expressing strong bias, people should look at both sports as completly seperate...and beautiful as well.

Very well said. I will take back that statement. I know that I don't understand soccer as well as I do football. Like I said before, "It is something positive in our young peoples lives."
15. Oh man- don't get me started. Ok well for now lets just agree to disagree. But I do like your comment that any sport is better than idle hands (as the saying goes- they are the devils workshop…)

825606499

I'm not trying to get you started. I have played both and that was just my opinion. I remember most of the guys I played football with, soccer is another story. If you played both you would understand that there is a different respect for who you played football with than soccer.
16. i like soccer more than football because star football players are probably the most arrogant people on the planet and almost all football players are dumb as rocks and just as pretty

825606206

Nothing checks you out like football. It takes all 11 players to make the offense, defense, or special teams work. As for your comment about football players being dumb, you have no idea. In soccer all you have to do is chase a ball around and kick it. In football you must know what the play is and know how to run it. I know it takes good foot skill and agility to be good but it takes a mentally and physically tough person to put on the pads. Its is the closest thing to boot camp that any other sport. The good thing with both sport and any other sport is that it is a positive thing for kids to do with all the negative things that go on in the world today.
