  1. Enrollment is all that matters in classification, but I wish size of city somehow was considered. Take Union City, for example, who is a Class A school, but UC has a population of 10,000 ppl. It's not the only high school there, so I'm guessing kids choose where they enroll, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out if your kid excels in basketball to go to the school where that sport is successful. Most class A schools have a 3,000 or less city population. Not taking anything away from UC; they were very deserving champions this year. That's the problem with privates as well..most are in the larger cities such as Nash, Memphis, Knox, so when choosing a school, of course you're gonna choose the one that excels in your sport. And, if an undesirable student shows up at a public school to enroll, they have to enroll them. If an undesirable student shows up at a private school to enroll, they don't have to

    Enroll them.

  2. With the talent Clarkrange already has, I think I'd want my daughter going somewhere that she could get more playing time and be a part of helping turn a program around, or return them to their former days of glory. How are these parents going to feel if they live close to York and drive their child by the school every day to another school only to see their daughter get little playing time and possibly never make the starting lineup? It's not like it's fearing competition for a young lady to not go to Clarkrange, it's more common sense to me for them to attend the closest school and not have the expense and danger of being on the road so much (yes, I know the schools are relatively close). If they're good enough they'll be seen by colleges, I assure you. And though it wasn't mentioned, most AA schools have more to offer academically than an A school. To me, the academics should be the first thing a parent looks at before anything else.

I respect the coach you mentioned who doesn't recruit or solicit. In my opinion, a coach who does that is only concerned about padding his stats - possibly to jump ship at a better coaching opportunity or to be a coaching legend. No once can convince me that a coach who does that has the young lady's best interest in mind....merely what she can do for him.

It's a parent's business what they do with their daughter, and I'm not indicating they're in the wrong to take their daughter to another school just for basketball. I guess I'm just saying it would probably be the wrong thing for me if that was the only criteria.

I would rather be a sub on a good team than a star on a bad team any day.

  3. Loretto is a very good defensive team, more so than offense. Plus they like to hold the ball and be patient for a good shot when they get the lead so expect this game to be low scoring. I have not seen Dresden play, but know that Loretto needs this game to be in high 20s or low 30s if they wanna win. They have done well, especially since the Burden girl didn't play this year after making All-Dist as a freshman. Best of luck to them...represent D12 and R6 well!

  5. Teams from same region are separated. Obviously if teams are in same region they might possibly have been in same district as well. So teams in same district will b separated, but only bc they r in same region. Anybody understand that lol?? Also these teams being separated wont play on same days. First two Class A games are Wedn at 4:00 ad 5:30 while the last two are Thurs at 10:00 and 11:30.

  6. During the semi finals when Richland had a pretty big lead, one of their students that was one of the khaki-wearing preppies leading the student section started mimicking a certain sexual position and was laughing the whole time...wouldve been a total embarrassment to me if were my school...can't believe school administrators or their massive security staff don't keep a better eye on things.

And whose idea was it for RHS to host the region tourney?? Even their own students who were trapped in the entrance said they knew this was a bad idea. Seriously ppl pick a gym large enough to host!

  7. I think the 88-89 season was last Clifton victory over WC...the two teams split during reg season then WC defeated Clifton in OT during the 2-3 game of dist tourn that year at Cwood which was huge for reg tourn bc it put WC and a Mia Daniel-led #1 in state Cwood in opposite brackets...Cwood and WC faced off in reg finals and the Lady Cats upset Cwood, coached by Hal Clark, at Cully and made it to state tourn...Clifton was very good that yr and had Stephanie Warren, Alicia Bumphus, Cindy Kelley, Lori Simmons, Nicki Kelley and can't remember the rest...

  8. another problem is that private schools can say no to students wanting to enroll if their "test scores aren't high enough" or their "jumpshot or fastball isn't good enough"...public schools are forced to enroll ALL students who show up--even students behind on credits or students with handicaps who will go against the school's graduation rate (but that's a whole other story about how messed up our educational laws are) and even if it raises the school's enrollment in such a way that classification is affected...with Friendship still being Class A with a 1.8 multiplier, i wonder how many students they have turned down this year that wanted to enroll?? Maybe none. I don't know that much about them. I still don't know how Union City (pop. 10,000) can have a Class A school?? Open enrollment and they go to OC? IDK but most Class A towns have 3,000 max pop. i would think...well, that is my two cents worth haha

  9. in response to the number of free throws shot by PC opponents throughout the tournaments, i have come to the conclusion that they are just a very disciplined defensive team and with a roster full of seniors, they know they can't afford to get in foul trouble if they wanna win....in the district finals vs Wayne Co, WC shot 0 free throws....in the region semis vs Mt Pleasant, i believe MP also shot 0 free throws...today vs Lake Co, only 3 free throws shot...pretty dang good defense if you ask me and i'm not being sarcastic..i think they are very disciplined...good luck to the VIKINGS...make D12 proud!

  10. Not being cocky.....just telling the trueth. Everyone talks about this T T girl so we can talk about Amber Fair. Yes...T T is a finalist but would trade that to move on for sure. No one ever gives Union City credit and pushes people like me/us to get on forums and take up for our teams. We could care less who we play as long as we play, and we are. It would have been cool to have a Lake Co/Union City finals but ain't gonna happen. Either way for Union City tomorrow...we have had a GREAT YEAR and more to come at least for the next two years. We will be back again and again. T T is a point guard ONLY...AMBER FAIR is a 5 position player who can play anywhere on the floor and play for anyone in the state no matter classification. Good luck to Lake Co next year...we have another game. Let anyone overlook Union City and their team. Fixing to head down and meet up with other Union City and Obion Fans. Going to be a great day at the boro win or loose tomorrow because with both county teams play...that has never happened in a state tournament. GO TORNADOES>>>>>>>> and Rebels.

Do u mean that no two teams from the same county have ever played in state tourney in same year or what? I'm confused by what you mean.

  11. My mistake, I read online that the enrollment was 345.

That figure is probably just outdated and been there for a while...Cwood and WC enrollments have both been way down...WC has about 20-25 more students than Cwood for their lowest enrollment ever probably...

Heard Cwood was up 13-10 after one...

  12. McEwen only has 320 students in the school. Slightly smaller than Collinwood. People just have family coming from all around and wavo and dickson people are expected to come. 2 hour drive means little to McEwen. Basketball is our main thing. I'd say we had a few hundred at least at Summertown last year. McEwen students cheer big for the team. I see it rattling C-Wood big time.... But, I hope to see a great game tonight never the less.

Collinwood High School has less than 290 students, so McEwen would have more. By the way, does anyone know when reclassification is as I suspect D12 will be a 5-team district again....

  13. Since PC is averaging 55.6 points per game since the district tourney started, their coach likes to hold the ball a lot (for last shot of quarter which can eat up to a minute off the clock each time), and the fact that defenses should be tougher with each game played, I'm gonna go with:

    PC 59

    MTCS 45

And MTCS fans, it would have been a closer margin except it is TOUGH to win at PC, especially with all those front row "extra" coaches on the home side haha. Good luck to PC...love to see you in Murphy next week!

  14. that is awesome...wasnt aware of this change as I did relocate for a while-still used to the way it is done up north...since this is the case, I urge fans of Summertown and Loretto to sit together and support each other and if it happens that we all play the same day, then fans of all three do this

Well, looks like you got your wish! LC plays Science Hill at 11:30, followed by Summertown vs Lake Co at 1:00, and Loretto plays Jackson Co at 5:30 on Thursday....good luck to all LC teams!

  15. Games haven't been on Tuesday in a while...although schedule did change this year with AAA opening the tourney up on Wed and two AA games, the the other two AA games followed by the A games on Thursday...Fridays first two games will b AAA, then two AA games, then two A games...Saturdays finals will go AAA, AA, A if I'm not mistaken...

Was almost correct but AA opens tourney, then AAA, then A. Finals on Sat are AA at 2, AAA at 4, and A at 6.

  16. Actually, all three LC teams could play on Thursday. AA will open the tourney w 4 ganes Wed followed by two AAA games. If LC makes the bottom of the bracket opposite Riverdale, they would play at either 10 or 11:30 Thursday. Loretto and Stown will def play Thursday and will be on opposite sides of bracket but it could in fact b poss to see all 3 teams play with only one game in between that didn't matter...-

  17. Unfortunately, LCHS wont be playing the same day as Stown or Loretto and those 2 will play in seperate sessions since they are forced to be in opposite brackets, but I have no problem being a fan of all 3 next week.

There hasn't been sessions in some time... Pay one price, stay all day.. Games at 10, 11:30, 1:00, 2:30, 4:00, 5:30
