  1. Well, you are incorrect as usual. I don't know why you even post as you are NEVER correct about anything. Girls from Fentress County can play at either York or Clarkrange unlike other counties that have one high school, i.e., Jackson County which has nearly twice the enrollement as CR. CR has to compete with York for local players and vice versa which actually makes it tough for each school. There is no zoning. In reality the only county school in Fentress is CR. York is a state supported institute funded due to a promise the state made to Alvin C. York to always do so. You remember Alvin don't you? Maybe you think he transfered into Fentress Co. as well /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> York is a very unique school with regards to funding. Clarkrange has only had two out of county transfers in the last decade, Ashley Howard from Wartburg and Molly Heady from Monterey. That's it. All the rest of the hundreds of players are home grown Fentress County girls that grew up here and played here at one of the many elementary schools in the county and ended up at CR. So, as usual, you don't know the truth, not that you'd care as you and many others on here just cannot believe that Lamar Rogers can continually produce outstanding teams with players from a high school with less than 300 enrolled. Sorry to dissappoint you but he is really that good. Regarding Carly Pickens, it was assumed to be a foregone conclusion that she was coming to CR to play basketball. Her decision to go to York was a big surprise actually and I would not be surprised if she ended up coming to CR. As the crow flies she actually lives closer to CR than York. We will see what happens but she would be a welcome addition to the Lady Buffalo team.

I may be mistaken, but didn't Chelsea Brown move from Crossville to start highschool at Clarkrange then go back when Stone Memorial opened? She may not be considered a true transfer, but she did relocate to play for Clarkrange.

  2. The Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee will have its first annual all-star game this Saturday March 14th. The game will be in Murfreesboro at Middle Tennessee Christian School. Game time is 12 noon. There will be a roster posted later today on who will play on the East and West teams. The lineup will be loaded with some of the best players in the state.

    Admission is $3

Should be a great way to kick off State Championship Saturday!!

Why would you have this game during the state tournament? Do the teams that will play Saturday not have players that would be on this all-star roster?

I can't imagine any coach of a team still playing on saturday allowing a player to play in this so called all-star game.

Am I missing something? Maybe this group thinks that the states best players either have been or will be put out of the state tournament.

  3. White County rooting for Cookeville??? Right, and the Red Sox will be rooting for the Yankees this year. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Cookeville should win. How did Cumberland Co. make it this far? Got hot at the right time I guess.

    Good luck Blackman.

Man, are you bitter! Ya'll still mad about not getting the Interstate? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

I didn't grow up in this rivalry(been here 30 years), but from some of the stories I hear, from both sides, it's like the Hatfields and McCoys. There is some deep rooted hatred between these two counties and I think it goes much deeper than athletics.

  4. A few comments on last nights games:

    1. Two great wins last night! If you were able to poll everyone that has filled out a bracket, I would wager that at least 90% picked Shelbyville and Riverdale. If for no other reason than name recognition.

    2. Great atmoshpere at Blackman, but I found it odd that Cookeville was expected to sit in the Blackman student section across from our bench. Maybe it's because we don't have a large following. We actually sat behind our bench in the Blackman section.

    3. The officiating in both games was constistant, consistantly horrendous! It looked like I was watching summer AAU ball.

    4. I will give her the benefit of the doubt, but it sure didn't look good when Maxwell walked by Hibdon without shaking his hand. He extended it across the line and she either didn't see it or choose to ignore it.

    5. Barbee is going to be a great player and she has at least one VERY vocal fan. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  5. Cookeville

    2-2 against Riverdale

    2-1 against Lebanon

    2-0 against Blackman

    0-1 against Shelbyville

    Riverdale

    2-1 against Blackman

    2-0 against Lebanon

    2-1 against Shelbyville

    Lawrence County

    1-2 against Shelbyville

    2-0 against Lincoln Co.

    3-0 against Franklin Co.

    Shelbyville

    2-1 against Lawrence Co.

    3-0 against Lincoln Co.

    2-0 against Franklin co.

    1-0 against Cookeville

    1-2 against Riverdale

With wins and loses in general and those against common opponents, everybody better come ready to play.

    Good Luck and be safe!

  6. What did I say hateful about Cookeville??? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

I was just stating the truth that Riverdale is in the opposite bracket of the 2 best teams and is in good shape. IMO.

It was in jest, but your comment "I LOVE THAT" could be interpreted as your delight in the fact that Cookeville may have a tougher road through the region.

White County has a much more storied history in women's basketball than Cookeville, and I realize that there is a fierce rivalry, but to apparently hope for Cookeville to be eliminated by a team from another district is petty.

Again, my post was in jest, it would be nice to see support from White County.

On second thought, maybe you meant that Shelbyville might have a tough time getting through Cookeville, if so, I apologize for the misinterpretation.

  7. I think your team is in great shape "riverdaleman".Shelbyville lost and they are now in the same bracket as Cookeville. I LOVE THAT!!! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

I don't know about the LC game tonight, but I think it improved your position being opposite Cookeville and Shelbyville. Only once in a blue moon is it actually good to lose a game. I think it was Riverdales blue moon tonight. Time will tell. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

  9. Folks,

I'm wondering if anyone has had a bad experience with this company. The representative was a super guy and I can't find anything but praise and I'm wondering if they are that good? Not trying to hurt or endorse them. We're just considering using them.

    Using them for what?

  10. Well I can tell you what problems Blackman is having, Campbell is a ball hog at the request of the Coach. Everything seem to be design around her. Dorsett is useless when it comes to defense and 1 three pointer a game is no help either. Sometimes I wander if Campbell and Dorsett are playing volleyball. And about Nowlin she should be shooting the three, but only Campbell and Dorsett have been given the go ahead. Things with Nowlin are up and down and I??™m sure this has to do with her legs. Which bring me to disjoint why is she defending the best player on the floor and trapping. And why is the some of the best players Overton and Bailey are on the bench, they can really help out. Coach Hildon also need to leave things along when people are getting the job done. Now about the post, they can't perform because they are to busy wasting time posting up with no chance of getting the ball. The post are poor at rebounding because they are busy trying to find someone to block out. Question? Do Campbell or Dorsett ever get tired? They seem to never the game. Other players are benched for making one mistake. How to improve on defense stop trying to trap, this will never work when only one person is doing all the work pressuring the ball and others are to slow to trap. Coach Hildon could help this team if it would shut up and let the girls play the game and stop coaching their every move. And this pointer is most important: STOP TRYING TO FREEZE THE BALL. Every time this is done they lose. I do think Blackman has a good team, but wrong lineup and no TEAM ball. I all almost finish with my pointers. Last two pointer. Try this offensive move: Put Nowlin, Overton, Campbell, Norris and Cox or Smith and see what happens.. Help from the bench: Bailey and Hall. Defense: man to man, 2/3 no trapping it doesn't work.

Your points may be valid, but the post is hard to follow. Try and re-read before you post.

  11. I would say that Faith Dupree and Kamiko Williams will be on the team just by both being future Lady Vols.

  13. Come on now swami. Yes WC has lost their share of games lately to Cookeville, but we did beat them twice in 2005 and I don't know all the numbers, but I'm not sure Cookeville beat White co. even once from the late 80's til the late 90's when WC DOMINATED this district winning the district 8 years in a row and made the state tourney 7 of those years. Annual win? Come on.

There is certainly a large gap in wins between the two programs, but what bothers me more than who's dominating who is the HUGH differance in support between the two programs.

    It was a great atmosphere.

  14. The allegations, if true, indicate a high degree of arrogance of ALL involved.

I find it hard to believe that anyone associated with such a high profile program, or any program for that matter, would risk penalizing an entire program(i.e. innocent players) with this kind of behavior.

I know it goes on, but to try and skirt the rules in the name of athletics is serioulsy misguided in my opinion.

I certainly hope Haislip(sp) plays tonight, I don't think Maxwell would risk it if she didn't feel that everything is above board.

  15. Helton sick and still won the game. Cookeville has a strong team.

    Just proves the adage: one player a team does not make. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

The girls played great defense that didn't allow open looks from long range.
