  1. The Tiger's actually have 4 basketball players on the football team right now, QB and 2 receivers are seniors and another junior receiver who will compete for the final starting spot on the basketball team. Yes, Spencer was the only senior on last years team and the transfer to Camden probably would not have seen much playing time with this years team once the seniors get back on the court, which could likely be another 2-3 weeks away. From the looks of it, these football players could miss up to 3-7 games depending on the Friday's playoff game with Hickman Co. They will struggle without them, but it could work out nicely for the end of the season when the team will need some depth while trying to make a run to the state tourney.
  2. Yes, Dotson is who I am talking about, he should be a nice addition to an already pretty good team. It will be interesting to see if there will be enough shots to go around for everyone with this addition.
  3. I am very familar with the Creekwood basketball program, at some time or another, the Creekwood squad and Waverly squad have played together on the same travel teams. Like I said in an earlier post, the Waverly, Creekwood games will be very competitve, more than likely they will probably play 3 to 4 times this year, which will be great, because I enjoy watching good basketball. I will have to give the edge to Waverly at present, until Creekwood can get over the hump and win the big game, once that happens, Creekwood will be very dangerous and could go a long way, until then its still Waverly's district to win.
  4. Very compettive games between Waverly and Creekwood last season, other than the blowout at Creekwood. The transfer in question is actually closer to 6'5" and a very decent player. Look for this season to be more of the same, very competitive! Waverly did lose a starter from last years team, a shooting guard, hopefully they can replace his leadership and scoring ability. I look for Waverly to be a much more physical team this season, considering they have most of the senior starters playing football this season, all of them have added some strength, just may take a while to get into basketball shape once the football season is over. Can't wait for it all to start.
  5. Don't count out Waverly Central, 23-2, 14-0 in district play and ranked #6 in AP poll.
  6. Pretty sure I don't recall East beating them by 34, if I remember correctly it ended as a 17 point game. East jumped on Waverly early in that game and it was the 2nd half before Waverly got into a flow and actually had the lead down to 6 with the ball and had a very questionable call that changed the momentum and East ended up pulling away. East is a very long athletic team that can create problems for most teams, Waverly included. Hopefully if all goes well, they can meet again for a chance to go to the big show.
  7. Its really hard to compare last years teams and games between Waverly and Creekwood to what this years teams will be like. Both of these teams are very young, Waverly has one senior on the squad, not sure about Creekwood. These kids know each other and have competed against each other for several years. I would say that the matchups between these two teams will be even more competitive than last years games. IMO, the difference in the games will come down to whether the youth of Creekwood will be able to match the intensity of Waverly. I can't wait to see how things turn out. Best of luck to all of District 11-AA on the upcoming season.
  8. It should be an interesting season with the addition of Lewis Co., Fairview, Hickman Co. and East Hickman. I would think that the top spot should be a battle between Creekwood and Waverly, barring any injuries to either team. I look forward to the start of the season, should be some good basketball this season.
  9. Saw the game last night, good start and great finish to the game by Cheatham. I won't say that Cheatham is playing their best ball right now, but they are getting the job done. As they move forward, they are going to have to have more than 2 good quarters in a game. Saunders hit some big buckets last night along with Darden having a couple of impressive dunks, but in my opinion the Thatcher kid was the key to that win, he hit some key buckets early in the game and hit a huge 3 late in the 3rd quarter. Cheatham definitely has a chance to make it to the Boro. I hope they do for the sake that I am afraid some of these poster's may do something drastic if they don't. I just think that it is crazy that you all talk so much crap to people that you don't know, most of us just support our teams, you guys take it to another level, I guess when you have a run like you have had this year it gives you the right to disrespect anybody that is not on the Cheatham bandwagon, and really, nobody cares what your 2 year record is. Regardless of what happens from here on out, Cheatham has had a great season, I know that all of the Cubs fans hope the Cubs can keep it going, but if you fans don't start acting a little more civilized, regardless of what happens, you will get NO respect from anyone!
  10. Unfortunately we will not be able to see a 3rd match up between Cheatham and Waverly, but after watching the Giles Waverly game tonight, I really don't think that Giles can hang with Cheatham. Giles won't have the advantage of playing on the smaller court like they did tonight, they get to play on a big boy court. Waverly has had a great season, it ended a too soon but they made Waverly proud. The future is bright for Waverly, so now it depends on the amount of work everyone does in the offseason. Waverly is going to miss McKenzie Etheridge and Austin Mullinix, two great players and leaders. But, back on topic, Cheatham over Giles by 12.

Have to hand it to Cheatham tonight, they showed why they are one of the better teams in the mid-state. Not exactly the " hammer " job that was predicted, but a win is a win. One thing that caught me by surprise though was the storming of the court after the win, just a little strange. I know it was a big game and a big win, but I can honestly say I have never seen that take place in a high school basketball game before, let alone a regular season game. This game just proved that these two teams are very evenly matched. Now both teams need to take care of business on Friday then hopefully we will get to see another matchup in the tourney, thats where it will matter the most. Can't say that I am disappointed to have made my last trip to Cheatham Co. tonight, hate the drive!

@BasketballNutty, this game has had so much hype since December when Waverly beat Dickson on their home court. There had been a lot of trash talking going on between student sections for the better part of two months. The gym was packed with both Dickson and Waverly fans so emotions on the court were running high. Waverly had just had a run of 20-2 or something like that. Then on the play your refering to our point guard and another player from Dickson were going up for a rebound and Waverly got called for an over the back call, which it was, but when they were getting separated the Dickson player threw an elbow that hit our point guard on the chin and leveled him. Well it kind of got a little crazy from there with some of the Waverly players coming in to stand up for their teammate who was still laying on the floor in front of our bench. So one of our players got T'd up for unsportsmanlike conduct. I was under the impression that if someone throws an elbow and hits them above the shoulders that it should be a flagrant foul and automatic ejection, but that is not what happened. Hopefully that gives you a little insight of what took place. Not that it really matters, but the refs lost complete control of this game very early on so it was just a matter of time before something was going to happen. After the play Jequan came over to help our point guard up, they happen to be pretty good friends off the court so not a big surprise.

The gas station gang, very catchy. It only took a month for you to come up with that one. Just curious, were you there when this incident took place? So unless you were there, I would venture to say that what really took place is different than what actually occured, not saying that something didn't take place, but you should know there is always two sides to every story. Now back to what this thread is actually supposed to be about, 11-AA basketball. Couldn't be a better last week of ball to be played next week, that is the way is should be. I know the game Tuesday night will be intense and very entertaining. It will be very important for Waverly to keep the big guys from dominating like they did in the first match up, in my opinion, if we can control them we should have a shot at pulling the upset. I say upset just because according to most of the posts on here from the Cubs fans have predicted nothing but a beat down. It's a huge game for the kids, if there is any trash talking to be done, let them do it, but I doubt there will be much because unlike you and your buddies, they respect their opponents. May the best team win and do it will class. Now onto more important things, Waverly has Dickson tonight and for the Tigers, this is the most important game of the season, just because they are next on the schedule!

Our fans, most of which are parents, grandparents, relatives and just regular people from our community will travel, regardless of the game being on a Tuesday night. As far as Chuck is concerned, from what I here he will be there. As far as the reffing in the 1st game, I think we can argue that it was pretty bad on both sides, but in a game when both teams are athletic and getting up and down the court, unless you are one of the best refs around, the refs will probably struggle. Looking forward to tonight first, it is our seniors last district home game, and they will tell you that they take one game at a time.

From the way it sounds, you have a problem with anybody and everybody that is not from CCCHS, either that or you are just mad at the world. Unfortunately you have painted yourself as an angry fan, and for what reason, your team is having a great season. As far as the so called brawl, your version of the incident is a little different from what I have heard, but who knows. This season is not about you, me or any other fan. Supporting ones school is cool, but when you start threatening people you are crossing the line. All I know is that when Waverly comes to your gym on Tuesday it should be a great atmosphere and a great basketball game. You can be rest assured that the Waverly fan base will be there in full force to support the Tigers!
